Thanks Joe. The blur in the photo of the dancers was done part of the same way of the market photo a while back. In the market photo i just opened the shutter for longer than normal (a lot longer because people walking slowing takes a while to get some motion). In this shot I just opened the shutter slightly longer and used flash to make the subjects sharp. With out flash, the subjects would be completely blurry.

Good point Derek. In this context the seed is the good news, that the Kingdom of God is near (Mark 1:14-15). I truly do believe though, that praying before the game is a statement that the Kingdom of God is near. Its acknowledging that God is real, that God is here, and that our prayers matter.

What I mean by saying that sowing the seed might be different for individuals is that the manifestation / realization of the Kingdom of God will be different for people, but you are right, in the end the original seed grows into the same thing, the Kingdom of God, through grace, saved by Jesus' death on the cross.

Thanks for your comment though Derek. I'm really thankful that we can finally have some discourse on what I'm writing.

The cliche answer for one of the words on one of my lines is prayer, especially in terms of seeing the Kingdom of God come into Jenn's Dad's life. I desperately want to see healing and restoration in his life, and yet I do not pray for it enough. I've started the habit of writing him letters to try and include in our life, since otherwise there is a physical and mental disconnect. Often I find myself too tired to write, but I know that I must write, consistently sharing with him the daily happenings of my life.

The distinction of active and passive really isn't helpful for me. I think that having a perspective of openness to the leading of the Holy Spirit into both of what you term lifestyle / street corner evangelism is most important. Sharing the Kingdom of God is active. It's never passive. Back to openness. Being open allows you to be sensitive to meet people where they are at, whether that be a random person on the street or a close friend who you've known for years.

I think by the fact that you are praying before the game is sowing the vision of dependence on prayer. What about asking people if they have anything they need prayer for as well? I think also engaging the person who abstains can help too, like specifically asking them if they have anything in their life they'd like you to pray for. I think sowing seeds is often asking the right questions or giving opportunity for people to discover and grow in the Kingdom of God.

RE: First paragraph. I'm not so sure its so straight forward as "to not condemn a behavior, is to accept it" Like ... God doesn't go around condemning each of our sins as we commit them, yet he certainly does not accept them. He's condemned them in other places, if we take the time to look and we find his forgiveness too if we look. So this goes back to my question of How we are suppose to take a hard stance against sin.

I believe that maybe one example would be associating the sin with the sinner and in turn hating the sinner along with the sin...but you ask a good question and I should come up with some more concrete examples.

Willard asked the reader to consider, do we even want a god to exist and what kind of god do we want to exist? Often times we can desire a god with certain characteristics and who acts a certain way. We then have a tendency to want to prove the correctness of that particular god, with the characteristics and actions that our desires have played a large role in dictating.

You bring up the point of thought and prayer. My example of drawing the line here is to consider your openness and ability to listen to God's answer to your heartfelt desires. Handing your desires over to God like people do at the airport screening stations and seeing if God gives them back to you is what prayer is all about. I think thats what it means to keep your "healthy desire in check by trust in God." I do not think that it means trusting in God for all your desires. Maybe I should start a new post.

Motion blur on the last one was achieved by keeping the shutter open for longer than normal and shooting at a small aperture (letting only a little bit of light in). If the shutter was open for the longer period of time but with the normal aperture size, the photo would come out overexposed. I compensated a little in LR, but what I really needed was a ND filter to allow me to increase time that the shutter was open even more, because it reduces the amount of light that enters the aperture even further.

I would suggest a few other new years financial resolutions. Focus on using you financial capital to invest more and consume less. What I mean is, spend your money on stuff that will have lasting results or create, lead, catalyze lasting results. I guess a few examples of what I mean might be: choosing to cook a some new dishes with a friend, instead of going out to dinner; buying a board game and playing it with friends instead of going out to watch a movie. There is a communal aspect of investing in each other that has lasting effect, beyond our tendency to just consume together.

It is super important to invest early because the difference of 200$ being compounded 29 versus 30 years can be more than you might think.
