in The Working Group January Call on Oracle AppsLabThis sounds interesting, what puts me off is the need to register and sign in to ning to follow some of the links. IS this something you are going to promote generally or do you need to join to see / hear (in the case of the recorded call), or is this a good oppertunity to post a podcast or even transcribed text?
cheers

in I am a Spammer and so Are You if You Played The Tag Game on Eddie Awad’s BlogI am with Howard on this, although not as strongly put as Howard so eliquently does it! - way to go Howard!
Also I think its bonkers to shut down your website in protest; if its left down long enough all the Google PR will be lost.
I have been pinged by people to join in but i have little time enough for blogging as it is at the moment and when i do post it will be on topic.
In some senses this is a version of a chain letter or more likely an attempt to emulate viral marketing in the hope that enough people link back to the originator of the process?
If this catches on, I suspect google will pick up on it anway and add checks for this sort of behaviour to remove the link juice value from these posts.
At the end of the day you cannot stop anyone from posting what they want on their own blog but this is too much like a scam for me - thats the suspicious security mind at work.

in A Can of Worms on Oracle AppsLabI also got an invite from Oracle to attend Open World as a blogger. Whilst i would love to come over to Open World as i have never been, my time that week is already sold to a client so in order to come i would need to have the income that would be lost repaid and also in reallity i could not let the client down anyway.
That is a specific issue for me, if Oracle had invited me further in advance I would have come over as that time would have been blocked out to open world and I simply would not have sold it to anyone else for consulting. Personally i would not mind funding the trip myself as its a great oppertunity to attend and as far as blogging is concerned i agree that each blogger needs to simply be up front and state that Oracle paid their pass in.
In terms of if Oracle really wanted a blogger to attend and they were busy then they probably would need to fund it and the blogger would need to be up front about it as it is in that case paid marketing.
just my two penneth.

in Oracle Technology Network Stats and a Tweet on Eddie Awad’s BlogHi Eddie,
Perhaps the diagram and description in the link are not brilliant but from the diagram connect looks suspiciously like linked-in. why re-invent the wheel why not use a hugely successful solcial network that already exists to connect people interested in Oracle, there are of course many others as well already out there.

in Oracle Blogs Ranked by Technorati Authority - July 07 Edition on Eddie Awad’s BlogNice list Eddie, you said you are going to update and post it regularly, is it possible to have it update on demand or would that cause issues with technorati thinking you are spamming them?

the link how to become a hacker is not security but about the old meaning of the word hacker, i.e. a skilled programmer.

in About The BUILTIN, FIPSFLAG and INTERFACE Pragmas in Oracle on Eddie Awad’s BlogHi Eddie,
Nice post!!
A couple of comments. Normally FIPS stands for Federal Information Processing Standards, I don't know but maybe its related?
Also on the Pragma interface C, if you read further in my first big Oracle paper (Expoliting and protecting Oracle) you will see that i tried to use the syntax myself but if fails with an ORA-6509 - ICD vector Processing error. I assumed at the time that Oracle implements a function call table. Like a table of structs that includes details for each function implemented as a pragma interface C call. This table or linked list would include function pointers for each C function, hence you cannot simply call your own C directly from PL/SQL unless you can update this table to add the address of the function you add. This is a great interface for calling C directly without the extproc overheads if only we coluld find a way to make it work..:-)

in Hit every minute on Eddie Awad’s BlogYou can check with http://www.completewhois.com to see who the guy is. Although it is annoying, one hit per minute is nothing. I was hit 20,000 times per day recently for a few days from different IP addresses and also a couple of weeks ago 30,000 hits in one day from another.
It seems odd that your guy has no referrer URL which is the normal method for referral spammers. They tend to spam sites that do not publish referrers such as mine because they don't check, they use a scatter gun approach. The fact that your guy has no referrer URL makes me think it might be a technical issue his end?
good luck Eddie, hope you don't get too much of this.
