"Let’s be honest though folks, to borrow a phrase from the NBA, this week is just garbage time. Nothing really matters".... ha... except for the future of the united states, Iraq war, the un/poorly insured, the national debt (10 trillion), the global environment, having more money in your pocket, abortions, gay rights, oil drilling and the chance of having the first black dude or the cryptkeeper in the white house... lol

Robert Seidman Tom, nope, you're still in the mainstream really with ~60% of people over the age of two not seeing any either. For now, it's the people who have watched any of them that are in the minority. Still, all things considered incredible numbers

i ask this a lot... hopefully someone will know one day :-) how is futurama doing? when it was on adult swim is got great numbers and had a lot of attention. i get the impression it's a bit lost on comedy but i really don't know how well it does.

leave the mole alone you big bully :-) seriously... it's a good show in a bad slot with an incompatible leadin. bachelorette aficionados are not gonna stroll with the mole. you see... i can rhyme too.

password could be such a good show... but if you seriously add up the time that regis takes to explain the rules over and over again, the time he banters with the celebrity and contestants, the time it takes for the audience to applaud every word, the time it takes for the contestants to pretend they are having a hard to deciding on weather or not to go to the second round. the show is only about 20 minutes long. and that's being generous.

plus they don't have any contestant run over to the next show so you know at the end of the hour they are going to lose or quit.

plus it's really unbelievably annoying how regis yells out stuff as the person is playing.

AND no one will ever go for a million dollars. it's too tough and not worth it. i would be shocked if anyone goes for 250,000. the game is set up so that once you hit 100,000 you have to stop. they might as well call it 1 billion dollar password because no one will risk losing 100,000.

why can't abc get people to watch them on fri or sat (camp rock repeat) but disney channel can get 9 million for camp rock on fri? i'm wondering if the first run camp rock was on abc instead of disney if it would have tanked.

Robert Seidman's picture
Robert Seidman Tom, that's a really interesting question, but it may not be a fair comparison. If the first-run Camp Rock was aired on ABC and the airing was promoted as heavily on the Disney Channel as it would have been if it were airing on the Disney Channel itself, it would surely do OK, but still perhaps not as well as on Disney itself.

Disney Channel doesn't run commercials, so if I'm living in one of the three out of four homes or so that doesn't yet have a DVR, I'd definitely prefer to watch the airing on the Disney Channel.

what's wrong with the mole? if you answer... please give specifics and not general put downs. what makes the mole worse than survivor or great race or any of the other ones? i don't understand the complaints.

in Nielsen Ratings for June 7, 2008: Saturday was Worse than Friday on TVbytheNumbers
sybil got a great review from the hollywood reporter. cbs should have just sold it to lifetime or something. they would have promoted it. gotten 5 million viewers and emmy nominations.

was it smart to put the mole on at 10? i didn't think about it until last night when i set my tivo. then i thought "it's a summer survivor game show" why is it on so late. should have been an 8pm show.

i'm sure you'll like BL from last night once you find it somewhere. was really good. more balanced than usual. BL has had such a weird season. they went from best (dancing) to worst (carpoolers and lost finale and supernanny) when it comes to lead-ins all year.

it's interesting too that you can't find BL on abc.com or hulu. Since they are a fox show on abc... they are stuck in the :twilight zone" so to speak when it comes to being rebroadcast on the internet.

it still makes no sense to me why they didn't just shelve WMC once they axed it and put legal back on tuesdays. they could have secured 10 million last week. seems like abc just wasted everything they had with those shows.

in Nielsen Ratings May 19, 2008: FOX’s ‘House’ Still Tops With ‘Youth’ on TVbytheNumbers
variety wrote that dancing will end up with 19.4 million and a 4.4. the numbers compared to last year are fairly even... and probably higher when dvr comes in... but the demo is much lower. 5.1 last year to 4.4 this year. again... dvr might add a little but they seem to be losing some of the younger audience. they need to have a 30 and under season. that would be fun and bring in some younger viewers.

in Nielsen Ratings May 14: FOX Wins, Idol Set for David vs. David Battle on TVbytheNumbers
with till death going into a third season... there's no way fox will let it die. they will keep it on to hit syndication. and it makes sense. look at george lopez and other middle of the road sitcoms. they hit syndication and do pretty well. that's why according to jim won't die.

in Nielsen Ratings May 14: FOX Wins, Idol Set for David vs. David Battle on TVbytheNumbers
i keep defending BL.. and i'm not gonna stop LOL i acknowledge if these were regular numbers then it's not good... but am i crazy? they replaced men in trees. compared to the last MIT... this is 2.5 million MORE viewers and .8 more in the demo. that's a really big improvement especially when you consider the shift in timeslot, then being off last week... then coming back... and literally NO promotion. people search this show out.

you compare WMC a bit with BL.
Dancing did 17 million - WMC did 7.5 million.
Supernanny 6 million - BL 7.6

In the Tuersday 10 slot, BL would have had 3 million more and half a point int demo more.

i think they are doing a good job for where they are. not blockbuster show like housewives or a csi spinoff would do but solid with a loyal following.

i know it dropped .1 in the demo after Supernanny but it's definitely not the same audience. it's like the network shifts from woman mode to BL mode.

i think that's the main reason ABC doesn't want it... BL doesn't fit the female thing abc has going for it. but i'm still in denial it's the last year. :-)

in ABC 2008 Fall Schedule vs. 2007 Fall Schedule on TVbytheNumbers
as a BL fan in a bit of denial... LOL is it possible the show could do well in that slot and get picked up for nine more to complete the season?

i actually like the slot... a scripted show as a lead in and competing with a new nbc show that has the heroes fickle audience as a lead in. csi is tough but they've been fading a bit. BL i think is a lot more interesting than Bachelor again. i see it doing a strong number 2.

it'll be interesting to see how eli does after dancing... it's not an easy slot. i think reality as a lead in is tough for scripted shows.
