What do you mean? Hmmm... Are you asking me if it is possible to block only a part of your post, and not the whole? If that is the case, I don't think it is possible. But I am not sure. It IS predominately a female problem except for JamEs.
I don't like that the doctors ignore our pleas for relief or help. They say there's nothing wrong but they don't know how disruptive and frustrating it is. I usually only have one or two at a time like everyone of you, but when I do get "real" hiccups, they are painful and last a long time and I cannot function while they are happening.

Here is a trick to relax your diaphragm. You can do this during a long stint of hiccups or just if your aware enough to feel as though your diaphragm might spasm.
Hold your breath for as long as you can then let it all the way out and hold that until you have to breathe in again. Should work. Good luck!

HOLY TOLEDO! Almost 11 pounds! OUCH. I loved your story - I LURVES me some birthing stories. Yours sounds very similar to my 1st in lots of ways... water broke (on the table as my dr. was checking me at my last appt!), no contractions, stuck little one, vacuum, etc. But I ended up with a c section, and a baby who spent a week in the NICU - all is well now - nothing lingering, except a hole in her heart, but it's inconsequential now. Thanks for sharing :)

¿Y qué entiende usted tratar a las personas como animales? Porque si yo les trato por igual es con respeto y amor si se lo merecen. Alguien que es capaz de torturar a un animal indefenso que lo único que pide de las personas es un poco de cariño y alimentos es que no merece existir.

Y ante esto:

Lo que es una aberracion es atribuir cualidades humanas a los humanos. La fidelidad, el amor incondicional y el altruismo, que tanto nos gusta ensalzar y presumir, somos incapaces de manifestarlos como un simple perrillo puede hacerlo.

No es atribuir caracteristicas humanas a los animales, sino que nosotros seamos lo que decimos que somos: humanos. Y martirizar a un ser vivo (sea o no sea de nuestras especie) no creo que sea aceptable ya a principios del siglo XXI como estamos (¿acaso no nos parecen atroces las matanzas de cristianos en el circo romano?). ¿Dónde hemos llegado para que alguien siga diciendo que somos superiores al resto de animales? (Nosotros seguimos perteneciendo a ese grupo, no lo olvidemos).

Insisto, no es lo mismo matar para alimentarse (eso es natural) que matar para el disfrute de un energúmeno (llámale cazador, torero, soldado en Irak o en la conchinchina), que no hay ningún otro animal en la naturaleza que lo haga. Quizá es eso lo que nos hace "especiales" respecto a los otros animales : la crueldad.

Se rie de quien le da la gana y encima le pagan por ello.
Lo que pasa es que todavía hay mucha gente que cree que porque insulte, difame, grite, amenace, y se meta con ZP o quien sea en ese momento, es porque sabe de lo que habla.
¿Realmente piensa FJL que el hecho de haber recibido un tiro en la pierna le da derecho a pasarse el sentido común y la educación por el forro?
Realmente este señor debería dedicarse más a la novela de ficción, porque tiene cada artículo circulando por ahí que ni "El código Da Vinci".

Por cierto: con la de mentiras e insultos que vomita este señor por la radio que pagamos todos, ¿cómo es que no recibe una denuncia como la que ha recibido Pepe Rubianes? ¿Tan graves son los insultos de Rubianes y tan poco los de "Don Federico"?

¿De verdad piensan que la bandera franquista es una anécdota en este tipo de manifestaciones? Lo curioso de esta foto son las dos banderas que se encuentran casi juntas. Pero había banderas franquistas por doquier (sólo hace falta ver el resto de fotos que se pueden encontrar en varios blogs y periódicos), y los insultos que gritaron muchas de las personas corroboran el tipo de pensamiento de una inmensa cantidad de gente que fue a esa manifestación.
Lo que es una pena es que para juntar esas, pongamos, 200.000 personas, por lo que parece, es que tengan que ponerles autocares y trenes. Una vergüenza.
Lo que no aceptan los nostálgicos de franco es que son ellos mismos una anécdota, y que tienen que engañar, manipular y embaucar para poder reunir a una gente que se supone iban a manifestarse contra un modelo de negociaciones y lo que fueron fue a insultar a un gobierno que intenta que no haya más muertos.
¿Será que hay alguien a quien le conviene que los siga habiendo?

No desligitmo ni digo que sea ilegal la manifestación. Cada uno es libre de hacer lo que quiera.
El problema es que en esa manifestación se utilizaron símbolos de un régimen dictatorial (¿a alguien le parecería razonable ver la cruz gamada en una manifestación antiterrorista en Berlín?), impuesto a golpe de guerra civil, que debería ser definitivamente condenado y aparcado por algunos sectores de este país que parece que no lo quieran. Y eso es algo que la gente no debería ser libre de hacer, mientras haya muertos enterrados en las cunetas.

Aparte de eso, lo que son hechos es que parece es que el PP y la AVT (que no es la única asociación de víctimas del terrorismo) no tienen capacidad de hacer salir a la gente a la calle como pretenden hacernos ver.
Y lo del clamor popular, perdona que lo diga, pero yo no lo oigo.
Clamor popular eran los millones de personas saliendo a la calle, sin autocares ni bocadillos, manifestándose en contra de una guerra.
A mí, esto, me sigue pareciendo una anécdota.

Parece mentira que dga usted que vive en Cataluña y diga estas barbaridades.
Por supuesto que el catalán es de obligado conocimiento. ¿No lo es el español? ¿No le parece normal, si va o vive en un sitio, conocer la lengua de allí? ¿No tengo derecho yo, como catalana, a que si voy a una institución pública, quien me atienda lo haga en mi lengua? ¿No le parece eso más lógico que tener funcionarios con inglés o francés, por ejemplo, que no son población de aquí?

Yo nací en Cataluña y siento decirle que el 80% de mi día lo vivo en castellano, a pesar de convivir con mucha gente también nacida aquí.
Dígame también, cuántas veces en un comercio, o en una conversación en la calle se ha encontrado hablando en castellano y haber tenido que hablar en catalán por encontrarse en minoría. Vaya donde vaya, encontrará que, en un grupo con mayoría catalanoparlante, si hay un solo castellanoparlante, la lengua del grupo cambia a la suya, a pesar de que éste último entienda la primera lengua. Eso es a lo que nos han acostumbrado. Y eso que según usted todos somos unos nazis.
Y no diga mentiras, aquí no se impone nada. Hay dos lenguas y cualquier ciudadano tiene que tener el derecho a usar las dos, pero el la obligación de conocerlas, también, las dos. Es de cajón.

P.D. Por cierto, hablando del valenciano y el catalán como se ha comentado. ¿Alguien pone en duda que el argentino y el español son la misma lengua, pero dos variedades distintas? ¿De verdad alguien cree que el valenciano y el catalán, y llámelos como quiera a cualquiera de los dos, no son la misma lengua?

Me gustaría saber qué le hace pensar a esta señora que tiene que perdonar a alguien.
Si quiere perdonar a alguien que perdone si quiere a quienes mutilaron a ella y a su hija, pero que deje de aparecer en los medios para meter cizaña.
Lo único que están haciendo es meterse en un pozo que cavan ellos solitos (los de la AVT).
Miedo tendrán probablemente de que el "proceso de paz" llegue a buen puerto y tengan que agradecer al "temible" Zapatero que haya conseguido que lo que les pasó a ellos no vuelva a ocurrir (aunque no sé si esto llegará a pasar algún día, ojalá).
Es una pena que piensen que por ser víctimas del terrorismo tienen derecho a decir lo que les plazca y que no se les pueda discutir. Perdonen señores pero no están locos ni enfermos.
Y es una pena que piensen que tienen esa disculpa. Yo también perdí a alguien muy cercano, asesinado a cuchillazos por un inmigrante ilegal que además se dio a la fuga y no creo que eso me dé derecho a hablar con la arrogancia con la que habla esta señora (tanto ahora como en otras ocasiones).
Por favor, que se quiten por una vez la etiqueta de "ser víctima me lo disculpa todo", porque van a perder gran parte de la solidaridad que inspiraban. Por lo menos la mía y la de mucha gente ya la han perdido.

Lo que ha ocurrido con este documental es tan sencillo de entender como esto. Y pondré un ejemplo.
Imaginemos que una televisión por ejemplo afgana hace un documental en el que cuenta las dificultades que tienen sus emigrantes en nuestro país para poder ejercer sus costumbres como ellos están acostumbrados, a que sus mujeres lleven la burka por la calle, por ejemplo, o cualquier otra cosa que nosotros no aceptamos en nuestra cultura.
Imaginen lo que dirían de nosotros por intentar que eso no ocurra, que si vienen a nuestro país se adapten a nuestra cultura, a nuestra lengua y nuestras costumbres. Sería lo lógico, ¿no?
E imaginen lo que opinaríamos nosotros de un documental hecho bajo esas premisas: que tratamos "mal" a quien no se adapta a nuestra cultura, no olvidemos, en nuestro país.
Supongo que todos opinaríamos que no es real, que lo que no es aceptable es que vengan de fuera a cambiarnos o imponernos nada.
Entonces, ¿por qué encuentran normal que venga alguien a Cataluña y no quiera adaptarse? ¿Por qué loan en ese documental a alguien a quien no le da la real gana de aceptar que aquí hay dos lenguas oficiales y que tiene el deber de conocer las dos? ¿Por qué se supone que si esta persona viene aquí, vive aquí y trabaja aquí, en su vida diaria tiene que obligar continuamente a los demás a hablar en su lengua? Cuando, no olvidemos, aquí las dos son oficiales.
Y no entiendo por qué cuesta tanto aceptar que si viene alguien a trabajar en un puesto público en Cataluña, yo como catalanoparlante no tengo derecho a que esa persona me atienda en mi lengua (insisto, oficial aquí).
Me parece absurdo perpetrar un supuesto "documento" con esos argumentos.

Sólo por curiosidad, me gustaría que el señor Peon Negro dijese en qué se le ha separado, segregado o discriminado por hablar en castellano, porque jamás he conocido a nadie a quien le haya pasado eso en Cataluña.
En cambio a mí sí que me ha pasado entrar en muchos sitios y que no me entiendan si hablo en catalán.
Mucho odio y mucha historia, pero pocos hechos demostrables. Es todo una mentira. Muy conveniente, por cierto, para algunos.

Don't you just hate those comment spammers? I get dozens every day. Fortunately my spam filter lets me blacklist a lot of the words most of them use. I don't mind comments that actually say something decent, but the ones that are just garble, or just strings of words related to porn or drugs really get my goat! Well, it seems to me that it has now come down to Barbie vs. G.I. Joe. But that's no insult when you think about it since the toys had (still have) major following. The fact is Kevin would have been a great pick but CEOs like the ones who interviewed him want to see that you have always aspired to be like them and you're always working toward that goal. They said he didn't seem like he knew where he was going and they wouldn't be sure if he'd stick with it. I say that shouldn't matter but then again I'm not a corporate cloan. Still, when you need to disqualify people, stuff like this works against you. We all know Kevin WILL land on his feet, just like Kwame did.

Now, if Jenn did strategize that flying under the radar was the thing to do, then it was a wise thing to do. After all, Kwame was accused of the same thing and he made it to the top 2 as well. When Jenn "hesitated" - as one of her competitors said - to take the PM role in the M&Ms gig, I thought, "Smart!" After all, if they lost, the PM had the best chance of being fired and she could secure her place in the top 4. I say if this seems to be the strategy that helps you survive then play it!

That being said, I'm conflicted. I want Jenn to win simply because she's a woman and I just about always root for the home team. But she hasn't proven anything to me this whole season except that she knows how to argue effectively (good quality). But she also steals credit and even if it's the corporate thing to do, I'm not for it. She also hasn't got a creative bone in her body - who couldn't understand that wheel concept Ivana was trying to explain? Puh-leeze! I suppose being able to delegate is a good thing, but Jenn just seemed to act like she was a little clueless to me while doing the tasks. But boy did she show her strengths when it came to showing off for the corporate folk. In the end, she knows how to play this big business game, or so it seems, so that works in her favor.

And Kelly? Well, did you take a look at his face while the ladies were going at it? I saw "duh" written all over it and I've seen it many times before. There really is no clear cut winner when you look at those types of things but Kelly was the favorite among the CEOs and that may be enough to get him top honors. Again, it's not like Jenn losing the apprenticeship means much. She'll go head up some other corp instead. As far as I'm concerned, they all (the competitors) are winners and will get what they want out of life just because they beat out a million other people and made it onto the show. Good for them!

HELLO! What is an hour compared to what the budget cuts will do?

One outcome of the budget cuts will be overcrowded classrooms. Let’s not even begin to speculate on which schools will be affected the hardest by the program cuts.

Seriously? We complain about where we stand as a country, when compared academically to other countries? Seriously? C’mon now!

I agree w/ Beverly. I, too, live in Michigan and keep my thermostat at 64º when I am home. With temperatures being near 0º much of the year, everywhere I go feels too hot. Who wants to have to carry their coat around when they are shopping? You would think with Michigan's economy these days businesses would turn down their thermostat to save some money. Yet everywhere I go, I sweat. It doesn't make any sense.

Magnetic motors? Batteries? Toomas Karmo (posted above)seems to understand the ramifications of the delicine in fossil fuel as outlined in James Howard Kunstler's book and the futility of an 11th-hour scramble. Yes, the powers that be have had their agendas, but the point is moot - when the fount of fossil fuel stops flowing, mass production of magnets, batteries, solar panels, wind power turbines, and the like will be impossible.As a country, the U.S. (like many others) is ill-equipped to contend with a lack of fossil fuel. Our rail system (run on fossil fuel), large-scale food production (fossil fuel driven), and personal transportation will leave us all stranded and hungry.

Initially, after reading The Long Emergency, I envisioned a garden plot on our property here in Vermont, a chicken coop, horse, etc., but quickly realized I have no animal husbandry skills and a seriously flawed green thumb. After the "emergency," where would one buy seeds for crops? How does one cook daily on a gas stove that has no gas?

The brilliant thing about Kunstler's book is that, while dark, it does invite you to take a look at the most mundane details of life and realize how reliant we have become on such a finite fuel source.

While Horizon might be an organic manufacturer, I think that they don't necessarily have the 'green' philosophy. It has be said that they give their cows only the absolute minimum of pasture (i.e. access to it).

Actually Mark, LA is seeing an immense amount of new transit--that is working. What you're describing is low quality transit service: infrequent and unreliable. With rapid buses, dedicated rights of way, and frequent service, buses can work in most places--especially LA which has an enormous population and areas with relatively high density.

Vill undvika kristen höger stämplarna, men det blir så lätt fel. Nej, jag tänker i första hand på Copeland och Hinn (den senare har jag väldigt svårt att ta på allvar).
McArthur räknar jag nog dit.Piper känner jag dåligt.
McArthur har jag inte läst någon bok av men jag har varit inne en del på hans websida. Det har inte fått mig att vilja ge mig på några av hans böcker, om jag ska vara ärlig. En del av hans svar på Q&A sektionen gör mig nästan mörkrädd. Hans syn på kvinnor och miljö tycker jag inte om, och jag tycker den är helt obiblisk dessutom (ex detta: http://www.gty.org/Resources/Questions/Theology... /> Men jag är ingen McArthurexpert, ska akta mig för att säga för mycket... kommenterar bara det jag läst.

Skulle gärna läsa mer av Martin Luther, men jag bor i Holland och att ge mig på honom på holländska blir mig övermäktigt. Undrar vad den engelska titeln är?
Ska kolla på Amazon.

Min McLaren favorit är Generous Orthodoxy, under den något missvisande titeln Generös Radikalitet på svenska.
Många rekommenderar Kristen på ett nytt sätt, men den har jag själv inte läst (borde läsa...).

Du säger att du är helt överbevisad om att Bell och McLaren är en cancersvult.

Båda har många fiender i USA, bland annat bland högerkristna (ursäkta uttrycket, jag hatar egentligen stämplar på kristna), och det tror jag i första hand har att göra med att de inte har varit rädda för att säga att en stor del av USAs kristenhet inte predikar evangelium i sin fullhet, utan att de predikar ett försvar av den amerikanska livsstilen.
Och jag har förstått att det ofta dyker upp kritiker som inte ens har läst Bells eller McLarens böcker.
Så ta det försiktigt innan du sväljer ord från kritiska röster och säger att du är överbevisad. De är kanske inte så insatta som du tror.

Personligen var det länge sedan jag träffade på en person som var bättre på att presentera evangeliet än Rob Bell.
Bells böcker och predikningar är fullspäckad av radikala Kristusbudskap, respekt för inkarnationen och respekt för Bibeln. Jag förstår inte hur du kan missa det.
Som jag har sagt förut, på någon annan blogg, jag minns inte var, ibland känns det som att du och Bells kritiker har läst en helt annan bok än jag. För jag förstår inte hur man kan komma till helt andra slutsatser.

Du beskriver också ofta EC som en gärningslära. Där håller jag heller inte med. Snarare predikas det att goda gärningar är en konsekvens av tro och gemenskap med Kristus. Helt i sin ordning med Bibelns budskap anser jag.

Det är tråkigt att höra att du inte har läst något alls av McLaren. Hans produktion är stor, jag har inte läst på långt när allt.
Men jag tror att innan du fortsätter att kritisera McLaren, läs själv vad han har skrivit, annars är det du säger inte trovärdigt.

Tack för dina fina ord på slutet. Tror nog att det stämmer även i privata livet. Jag försöker i alla fall att först se människor, och inte bilda mig en förutfattad uppfattning innan jag känner personen.
Nackdelen med bloggar är att de flesta inte känner varandra. Det är lätt att "gömma sig" bakom bloggen, och inte se människan bakom, speciellt om man känner sig sårad eller påhoppad.
Ändå tycker jag att jag ofta har lyckats nå ett slags samförstånd med andra som jag inte har haft samma åsikter som. Man förstår varandra, även om man inte tycker lika. Det gäller speciellt i debatterna med kristna, men också med ickekristna.

Nu vill jag inte slå mig på bröstet och säga att det jag skriver om är det enda rätta. Jag är en kristen med fel och brister, jag är inte teolog utan bara lekman.

Men jag har svårt att få grepp om VAD det är som du tycker är fel i det jag skriver. Jag tycker det är tråkigt att bli stämplad som villolärare, utan att egentligen förstå varför.

Är det för att jag råkar rekommendera McLaren och Bell?

Det är jag ju i så fall inte ensam om.

Men tills nu har jag inte sett dig förklara MED EGNA ORD vad du tycker är fel med deras budskap. Har du överhuvudtaget läst något av McLaren och Bell själv?

För övrigt har jag en del tankar om hur du debatterar på din och andras bloggar:

Du länkar ofta till videoklipp och webbsidor från för mig helt okända pastorer och bibellärare, nästan alltid från USA. Jag har svårt att ta till mig långa videor från personer som jag inte vet var de står, eller vad de predikar om. Om jag inte hittat något som relaterar till diskussionen inom fem minuter, så stänger jag av. Jag har inte all tid i världen. Och bloggvärlden har mycket att erbjuda.
Om du vill länka till något på Youtube, gör det som ett komplement, men INTE I STÄLLET FÖR ett eget formulerat svar.

Jag säger detta också av omsorg, därför att jag tror att många har svårt för ditt sätt att debattera. Det är väldigt yvigt, mångordigt och det är i allmänhet svårt att få klart för sig vad du EGENTLIGEN vill säga. För mig räcker det inte att typ säga att "man ska vara trogen Bibeln".

Men det är jättebra att du har öppnat för kommentarer.

I so hear you! I have to have my computer and my Blackberry at all times. Anything that I do not put on these two devises usually gets lost in the heaps of paper I have everywhere. I do not have enough hours in my day to write notes and then transfer them on to my computer later so that I will be able to save the files. I also type significantly faster than I write so I actually get more complete information down to refer to later when I'm typing.

Its the old practice what you preach. No word of a lie I once went to a technology workshop and the presenter was using an overhead projector for her notes!

For me, your post speaks loudly to what I personally see as the key piece to "Universal Design for Learning". We need to look at all learners and help them discover (or allow them ot discover as the case may be sometimes) the technologies that work for them personally. It seems acceptable to use gadgets to make life easier/more efficient/safer...etc. everywhere but in our learning. There are so many that still seem to think these gadgets are distractions rather than learning tools.

As for my childhood tree, it was a mix of ornaments from my dads mom and my mom's grandma. It had a lot of fun interesting glass ornaments, each one different and beautiful.

You know the first time someone mentioned that he was the first president "of color" I was caught off guard. I never paid attention to the color aspect of this race. It was more about issues, policies, how they spoke, etc.

Off the subject, I put the comments with my approval only because I was getting a TON of spam about some lottery/gambling site on a regular basis. This has pretty much stopped them. They leave a comment and realize it has to be approved then they move on.

My Dad and his twin brother (God rest their souls)...always read the obituaries before any other part of the newspaper. I found it morbid. I always asked, "Why do you look at that every day Dad"?

My Daddy told me, in all seriousness...there are two great parties in life...an Irish wedding, and an Irish wake.

Hey Natasha! Firstly, I dont think you come off "serious" at all. Thats not to say you come off as a total joke, but I feel like your bubbly side comes through. Pressure can be a good or bad thing, depending on how they are using their pressure. If they are being mean about it, you should stop going or just find another meeting altogether. Also, are your meetings at night? By then youve had meal after meal so of course your weight will be up.

Rest easy, girlie. Time is gonna keep on passing with or without weight watchers so you might as well just keep going.

Chips were my biggest downfall, theyd be labeled, "Less Salty" or "O" trans fat and even "Baked". And I never knew squat about this stuff so Id buy it thinking Id be making a healthier choice. What I failed to realize is that while maybe the idea of all of this "healthy" stuff was good, I was still going home and downing that entire bag which took away all of the healthy effects.

I eat organic apples with Skippy Peanut Butter. Its not the healthies thing in the world but its waaay better than the chips and dip.

Awesome, third times a charm, right? My first and only weight watchers meeting was horrible, all of the women were in their 70s or 80s and extremely thin. It was awkward for me so I know what you mean about needing a leader for inspiration!

Today was the first time in a long time that I didnt care about my weight. I just went about my business and it really did not occupy every single thought. Its kind of nice to not think of yourself as fat. I may need to step away from the scale as well.
