in Someone Tell Samuel Jackson That Rosa Parks Wasn’t Just A Seamstress on Jack and Jill Politics
Time to change the paradigm away from Hollywood folk doing this. Time for teachers, social workers, community bankers, intellectuals (Ok, I also include Michael Eric Dyson in the Hollywood category) to read and even create text for the teleprompters. Perhaps real people can sniff out the mistakes or factual errors and give the statements some life. Otherwise the average fool will take a celebrity's word for it and not investigate. I mean, the only saving grace from the weekend was thatr Tyler Perry, TD Jakes and NeNe from Real Housewives weren't there or evident...

Roger Simon of the conservative Pajamas Media (of which I'm a member) acknowledged that many strident folks feel angry and helpless over the election of Barack and invading other blogs (trolls) is the only way they can blow off steam.

Well, there's also masturbation, running laps.

"I won" is all these jerks need to hear to set them off. But the reality is even with this statement Barack holds out the open palm. We're stronger united.

Assuming you're correct , that's 11 million more folk roaming to kick your ass, vote for the O man.

The only potential despots I've seen here have been on the right.

Try help the situation, not hurt it. But you can't can you? It's not in your nature. You're like al Qaida, et al. Easier to attack, rip, denigrate than build. Which is why the President wasn't just refering to the Middle East when he said "We will outlast you." Is it so tough to find common ground...or walk to the middle?

Then again, it's tough to walk at all with a goat's erect wang lodged in your fundament. Relax your sphincter. Ease it out. Apply ointment. Rest. Then we'll talk...

last I checked, fellas, it was red states, red districts who relied the most on govt. cheese in one form or another. be it miltary installations, the military as employer of last resort for the average redneck sot, farm subsidies, GOP congressional pork, federal land, and of course the dirty little secret as to how many white folks truly depend on federal and state entitlements, from medicaid to Medicare-D.

Just sayin'...

They are supposedly the "model minority" but there's a crazy underbelly. Asian males who loose their minds and spill blood. Perhaps the admissions office at VT should let in more black folks? It'd be a safer campus...

Town I was afraid of Asians being stereotyped. It's my understanding that this guy came all the way from China to get at her, and he decapitated her. I don't think he was a student, and he was only in the US for the past 2 weeks.

When (not if) Barack's reelected, can we have regular folks--soldiers brought home, single moms, firefighters who've saved elderly victims--speak and/or introduced people and songs etc at concerts, events...even balls?

I'm a little, well, shell shocked by celebrities who invaded DC. I dont need Steve Carrell and Jamie Foxx teaching me about Abraham Lincoln. I don't need Nick Cannon. I don't need Hummer limos pulling up to supposedly "green" or green-invoking balls.

Not a gripe. Just a thought. I don't mean ostracize Kanye West or Susan Sarandon or . I mean minimize the swirl of focus on them.

I will speak up for a fellow writer and Marylander. Aaron's a tortured genius type. And yes, he's gotten a little flaky since he left the east Coast's more reasoned bosom. Look--Picasso was an asshole, Faulkner was a drunk. Even Charles Schulze wasn't Linus as an adult. So we cut him a break. But we still need to wake him up.

I am thawing, popping advil, getting ready for Midatlantic ball so I will make the only negative comment of the day: Adrian Fenty and Diane Feinstein might well be the Nagin and Blanco of Mall crowd control. LAWD HAVE MERCY. Seeing elderly black women who've travelled on a bus in the wee hours not weeping from joy during the speech, but weeping from pain from being cold, lost and herded into steel fences by clueless DC cops and 17 year old Guardsmen & soldiers was a bit much.

Otherwise. I havent cried duirng the National Anthem before today...

malletgirl02 I was there as well. I agree wth you it was a clusterfuck. The closed metro sations was especilly annoying. For example La Efant plaza was close, and we had to go all the way to the next staion and go back around, it took us an extra hour. They said it was crowded, too crowded, but the next station was much worst. Well par of it is my dad's fault, if we had gone my way and transfered to the blue line we wouldn't had that detour. I was seriously thinking I should had just stayed home and watched on TV.

I hope you had fun at your ball.

It got to the point where I was rooting for him.

I think he just went, damn it, I'm going to play this role as if this is my last role in the movies, and I'm going to make them remember it!

You succeeded, Ricardo. And with your group, Nosotros, for better roles for Latino actors. (Note: The website is under maintenance right now, no doubt because of Montalban's death. Keep trying.)

Rest in peace.

That comment by Ms. France is radical even for many American biracial folk. And what IS Toger Woods doing these days? LOL

whiterosebuddy Yes, it is transformationally radical in that it asserts pride in blackness and embraces black. What a revolutionary concept?!

Tiger is home with his babie(s)trying hard to rehab that knee still...he really tore it up bad to win that Open.

I just hope he can come back with a knee strong enough to shatter Jack's records.

Veejay Singh ...saw him at some Golf awards...I think it was the one for the highest paid golfer of the season..of course Veejay won, and was presented the trophy (honor/check) by last year's winner, of course that was Tiger....and Singh turned to him & quipped....'don't hurry back'

Singh know he ain't never as wealthy as when Tiger is out ..whether it is to redesign his swing or rehab a kneee....it is all money to Singh.

BBC America sucks, but for the nasty house show and the weight loss show. Gordon Ramsey make me puke...

But you know, Star Trek was great, and was a launchung pad for the sci fi of tdoay. As for Batman, it was INTENDED to be camp, and was clever. You have on now which people think is making some sort of statement.
I'd go as far as to say that I'd stack Gilligan and the happy POWs of Nazi Stalag 13 against Heidi Montag and any and all reality shows, all sitcoms and half the 'dramas" on network TV (CBS-Fox-ABC-NBC-TBS) now.

MsKitty's picture
MsKitty The beginning of the end of BBC America for me was when they stopped showing EastEnders. But that was a blessing in disguise because that led me to a couple of sites where I am able to, ahem, get a hold of UK programs. As a result when BBC America adds something new to their lineup, most times I've already seen it months earlier. For instance I just started watching season 7 of Spooks (aka MI-5), and I think BBC America has only gotten as far as season 4.

But then again, what happened to BBC America is typical of a lot of the cable channels getting far away from their original purpose (I'm talking about you A&E, Bravo, TVLand and TLC). So it's not just network TV that's putting out crappy product.

She's very pretty. "Too pretty" in that "mixed-exotic" sense white folks and marketers love? How does this mix, so to speak, w/the paradigm darker skinned women are staking out w/the new First Lady as their symbol? Interesting.

PS--her mother is an American black woman. What's the message there--can't find a "good brother" so go get yourself a wealthy Frenchman? Hey, no argument here. Whatever floats one's boat...

whiterosebuddy "Mortaud also identifies herself as “black,” which is rare in France when speaking about someone who is biracial. Presumably, she learned this from her black American mother, along with a worldview deeply influenced by the African-American experience."

I have always believed that when black women started to raise biracial children that would be when our world became transracial. Because, it is mothers who give children their sociologic view of the world and as long as it was white women raising biracial children...nothing would change as those children struggle to identity with blackness and can't seem to accept that their claiming blackness does not mean they are rejecting their white parentage. Folks like McWhorter and Woods and Shelby...suffer from that type of racial ambiguity creating a guilty sense of rejecting one race in order to embrace blackness.

Black mothers though cut to the quick and say...baby you black...just as Halle's mother eventually told her...you are what the world sees you as.

Black mothers have the power to rule the world...just intermarry with men of all nationalities and we can turn the entire globe...BLACK

love it!!

I know I'm dating myself, but I recall my dad and uncle watching The Prisoner (along w/the Avengers) when I was little, then I saw it decades later on PBS. So am I an old jerk if I say yeah, TV WAS better, smarter back then?
blksista's picture
blksista Some TV was "better, smarter", back then. What's the diff between Batman and Star Trek?

Understand that ABC brought in The Avengers, and CBS Secret Agent and later The Prisoner during the height of Brit-o-mania in this country, led famously by the Beatles and the rest of the British Invasion cultural bunch. The networks were trying to get ratings.

However, this certainly led to certain segments of the nation to rely on PBS for Brit TV, and miniseries like Prime Suspect, Tinker, Tailer, Soldier, Spy, and The Lathe of Heaven as well as BBC America (which still doesn't show everything that's televised in Britain and if it does, it's a year or two late). Whatever they seem to do is quality, thinking TV. Class does tell.

I'd sure like to watch what is on Grenada TV or Channel 4 one of these days. Prime time.
