Garrett's points are ridiculous and off-subject. Is he advocating for a system where students study elsewhere in the U.S. rather than abroad? His assumption is that Harvard students are out of touch with the whole of America. Harvard students do represent the whole of America (while perhaps not proportionally). There is nothing here that actually suggests that studying abroad is a wonderful and worthwhile experience. Instead, he laments that students are out of touch with their countrymen, a point that is arguable, but more importantly, unrelated to the value that studying abroad provides.
