in Chicago 2016 Update: Chicago still in hunt for 2016 Summer Olympics on Daniel B. Honigman's site
I can easily picture a zealous Daley seizing entire condo buildings, etc, under eminent domain by mayoral decree, for use in an Olympic ceremony that will last a grand total of 12 minutes, only to tear the same buildings down immediately afterwards, "because they weren't green."

in Tidbit of the Day: McDonald’s to offer premium coffee on Daniel B. Honigman's site
I tried a McDonald's cappuccino at their coffee bar on George St. in Sydney, and thought it tasted like liquid styrofoam with a bitter aftertaste. Actually, it was like throwing up a little in your mouth, with a vague coffee flavor. So, no, I probably wouldn't try it again.

in Chicago 2016 Update: 2016 Olympic bid cities announced on Daniel B. Honigman's site
And of those six cities, two (Madrid and Prague), maybe three (if Tokyo ever gets some signs in English), of those are actually viable competition.

in State Street Macy’s to return to ‘Fields’ status? on Daniel B. Honigman's site
KKR should either turn the Macy's back into a Field's or make it a roller rink/4-H showcase/Jai-Alai arena/circus prop and equipment emporium and testing ground. I'm going to email Mr. Kravis about that right now.

in Federated (cough, Macy’s) replaces marketing chief after 15 months on Daniel B. Honigman's site
I've always experienced superlative service from every department in Nordstrom, in more than one store, including Michigan Ave. Nordstrom doesn't need anyone's seconds. But Macy's State Street, which is "doing badly," isn't doing anything to ingratiate itself with customers who actually go in the store. You would think that Macy's State St management and employees would be making a special effort, but they aren't. (Looptopia doesn't count. Window displays don't count. African plants don't count. A survey doesn't count.) No one in that store gives a badger's ass.
