Like it is a fake docking station. You can plug in your keyboard, peripherals, and your macbook and charge away. That is pretty awesome in my eyes...and would possible sway me over to getting one if i went external. (There is a magsafe extension cord, usb cable and obviously the display connection to make all this happen)

Re: 5 Things to Love and Hate about the New Apple Laptops

Well #4 is not 100% true. The new macbooks are actually .5lbs lighter than the plastic books. Of all stripes. And the new MB is even lighter than the 12" PB. But it does feel like the screen protion is heaver. The new MBPs on the otherhand did gain .1lbs over the previous ones. So you are only half right.

The feel "solid" which adds to the weighty feeling.

Re: iPhone: The Frustratingest iPod Ever!

I hate the portrait mode song list. Because if you are crazy enough to click on a song there while you are in shuffle, it will then continue to shuffle the tunes from that album, not the library. Grrrr...

Oh wait another confusing one. Getting the mobile appstore content off your touch if you manage manually. You have to click on the menu in itunes. Huh?

Re: 2009/01/26/apple-multi-touch-patent/

I HATE patents like this. They are so vague. I am sure there were easily 6 companies working on ways to "use multiple fingers" to interact with a "personal computing" device. Apple just got their paperwork processed first. I am all for protecting IP but Apple can't hide behind patents to eliminate competition. My friend who works on the iPhone team is really excited about the Palm Pre. He wants competition to spur Apple in to making a better product. Let's hope that this "patent" and "IP" doesn't inhibit revolutionary innovations. (There is one company in my industry who has a patent for something totally obvious, and gets about 50% of their annual revenue from settlements related to the patent. They have essentially stopped innovating and product development in order to collect money to "protect their IP")

Re: Now Available — Developing Applications for webOS webcast

Will synergy do the same for tasks, and create a global bucket sources from different apps/locations (exchange, computer, online, whatever)

Re: Are bloggers & social networks killing the big shows?

The last few shows I have been to seem smaller and smaller. With less and less good traffic. It used to be enough to have a good location. Now location doesn't even matter. It's hard to get out of the office for local shows. And I like in tech-show central, the Bay Area! Tradeshows are effective, are hard to attribute directly to revenue, and decreasing in influence. Hopefully we can go back to using shows for what they are good for, deepening relationships.

Re: Tumblr’s CEO brainstorms microblog monetization

Just signed up for tumblr. But I don't have any friends who tumble. Using Twitter, Facebook and Wordpress to host my blog. Tumblr is like my online notepad for blog posts and random thought. Like twitter but not. Twitter is a great way for me to
1. get a quick distraction
2. See what industry leaders are thinking
3. Do some adhoc market research via search

So far twitter is winning out for me with a combo of network size, relevancy, and just enough features to be helpful.

How to monetize this? That's tricky, but I like the ideas of subtle, unobtrusive ads. And knowing about what my friends are up to. But I really hope that these sites can help companies connect with their audience, and monetize that. Salesforce's Appexchange is a great example of how "api" access leads to more revenue, I am sure one of these microblogging sites will be able to do the same.
