Fabulous Todds shoes at a price that doesn't make me feel like an indecent human beeing. Unfortunately, here in Morroco where I work, they are worth two months of some of my staff's salaries. So I forgo the Todds, out of guilt or out of solidarity...
A beachfront house... most definitely.

in What’s your beauty dilemma? on Carrie and Danielle
Thanks Danielle... it's amazing, reading all these answers, how much "bad hair days" have a hold on us... what I appreciate the most about your website is the fact that it illustrates so well that we can discuss our outer shell and admit that style and appearance do matter (to ourselves as well as to others) without feeling shallow and superficial... what a liberation....

Tahnks for the tip... I was thinking of going back to a darker color... you just convinced me... I'm afraid of the extensions too.
As for the a** and the belly issues, it really helped me when I read an article about "exercising" by contracting muscles (thigh muscles, belly muscles, ect***) and that you can do it just about anywhere without anybody noticing (while sitting at your desk, while walking, sitting in a car or in a bus, waiting in line, clinbing a stair, etc...) ... It really starts to show after a while....

Baby-fine hair, colored (streaked), that I can't seem to grow past just below the shoulders. They seem to grow so slowly and the ends get very dry and they split, so I always have to cut it before it has a chance to grow enough for my taste. I've even considered getting extensions, just so I could experience long hair again... Any suggestions ?

in What do you do to promote your own happiness? on Carrie and Danielle
I just put on my "happy glasses" ! I realized, years ago, as I was struggling with a lot of ups and downs following my separation with the father of my children and found myself raising to youngsters by myself full-time (as the father was living overseas, that one day I would describe my situation as a blessing and an opportunity for a better life and the next day I would describe it as "unfair" and "the end of the world" (or my world). It suddenly dawned on me that it was exactly the same situation that I was describing in such opposite ways depending on the " glasses" I had put on that day (my negative glasses or my positive glasses). I'm now convinced that the best way to promote your own happyness is to make the conscious decision to be happy and to adopt the consequent perspective ...

in What’s your best travel tip? on Carrie and Danielle
Homeopathic treatment for jet-lag... can't remember the exact name... but it really helps... a travel scented candle to remove odors in hotel rooms and a plastic or wooden door-stopper which is a very easy way to make a hotel room more secure for women traveling alone (nobody will be able to come in while you're sleeping)...
Talking about travel... I just finally got C & D's book (Style Statements)... it travelled all the way from Quebec to Morocco in a collegue's suitcase... Can't wait to get into it....

in Friday Edition: Who would you be if you were freed from your past? on Carrie and Danielle
I second that... I woulnd't forgo any experience from my past, for it made me who I am... and because I learned that good and bad (even very bad)experiences are learning and growing experiences... I try never to use my past as an excuse for not moving forward... except for little self-pitying moments that I accept and let pass very quickly...

in If you had an audience of a billion people, what would you say? on Carrie and Danielle
You have the power... Funny how today's question brought back the wish I suppose we all have in our late teens and early twenties to "change the world". But today, older and wiser, I would say "you have the power within yourself to change yourself, your life and YOUR world and, by doing so, to inspire your entourage... and that's already a contribution for a better world..
And I would also say, for the sake of our children, let's all do something for the environment and save the future of this lovely planet...

magical... when I'm at my best, when I am my most positive self.. when I'm full of constuctive energy... I know I invite "magic" into my life by truly believing that nothing is impossible and that thoughts do become reality...and I then become "magical" myself and inspirational to my entourage... This week, I'm going to remind myself as often as possible that life is and that I am... magical...

in What does it mean to be civilized? on Carrie and Danielle
Being civilized to me is, amongst other things, beeing aware that "civilization" is not the apanage of one culture or one country and that what can be construed as polite in one might be considered impolite in another. And respecting these differences and being curious and interested to learn about them...
I find very civilized the custom, in many non north-american environments, which consists in really taking the time to greet people (even in a work or business context) and inquire about their health and family with real interest instead of rushing into the business at hand, wether you are a doctor seing a patient, a bank teller serving a client, etc...

in What’s your form of genius? on Carrie and Danielle
My "genius" is being able to focus on the sthrenghts of people and to consequently bring out the best in them. When I was younger, people's flaws and weaknesses irritated me, now I find that they are what makes them human. Perfection to me is boring. Imperfection, on the contary, can be very endearing.
Also, it's the second time I'm taking over a large project that has badly started and where all parties are at odds, and it's the second time I'm making a success of it, so I suppose that this capacity to turn around a situation and rally everyone around me and the objectives is somehow part my "genius"...

Dry brushing the skin (whole body) before showering or taking a bath. It exfoliates the skin, detoxifies, stimulates circulation and immune system, tones, tightens skins, invigorates and helps with cellulite. All you need is a soft natural fiber body brush with a long handle... Many articles in the internet on the how-to and multiple benefits of the Dry Brushing Technique...

in Special Friday Edition: What’s the desire beneath your envy? on Carrie and Danielle
Hum... very interesting Q & A today.. you're making me revisit the issue of envy... I felt very fortunate to be at a stage in my life where I'm very grateful about my life and where envy wasn't that much of an issue anymore... Never felt at ease with this emotion which seemed so negative, so petty and so useless... but seeing it in this new light : as the expression of one's deep still unnattained desire.. Yes, I still feel envious : I admire and envy artists whose boundless imagination touch us and make us dream; I admire and envy entrepreneurs who have built empires from scratch & have attained the freedom to be philantropists and do good. I also envy (whithout admiring though) anyone who has complete financial independance and never has to make any compromise for material reasons... My desire, my yearning, is to have the freedom and more importantly the courage to explore and exploit all of my abilities (some of them still unexplored) to their fullest extent and to see just how much I can accomplish (and feel accomplished as a human beeing). Thanks a lot for the insight...

in What culture do you want to learn about? on Carrie and Danielle
All of them... to be enriched by them...for the sake of stretching my mind and opening more and more my horizons... also to be reminded each end every time that no culture in particular is the guardian of the Truth. Also to learn more about myself in the process... Having done three different overseas postings, I discovered what a rewarding challenge it was to have to adapt to a completely different environment where none or almost none or your pre existing references exist. "Pour obtenir une vérité quelconque sur moi, il faut que je passe par l'autre" (J.-P. Sartre)

in What’s the lesson that keeps repeating in your life? on Carrie and Danielle
Trust Divine Direction. Be open to it and try not to ignore repetitive signs that the universe is sending to steer you in one direction or an another. Although I have always insisted on being in the pilot seat of my life, I've learned (in more than one occasion) that there is a part of destiny which is not under my control... as if there were some experiences I was meant to go through to grow and to advance... For example, I was offered a very interesting professional challenge abroad which I refused a first time for no good reason. The same offer (same job, same country) was made to me again almost one year later (as the client asked that the person who had filled the position be replaced) and I refused again, and again for no good reason ... I was in a bad personal relationship that second time around, although unaware of it and unwilling to let go of it. Four months later, when the position was offered to me for the third time (since the second person who had filled it had just been in an accident and also had to be replaced), it suddenly dawned on me that I was supposed to be the one filling that position...and finaly accepted it... after that, everything that had seemed like a mountain just weeks before (selling my car, my house...etc...) was worked out almost magicaly and two months later I was in a new job, in a new country, in a new house with my two kids (just in time for the start of the school year) and almost two years later I've never regretted that decision...

in What has been your most significant beginning? on Carrie and Danielle
So intense was my first reaction when I first met him... that I should have known it was going to be my most significant beginning.. the most life-altering, the most beautiful and the most difficult. So intense was my first reaction when I first met him... that I should have known that all the crazy events that had occured in my life in the prior months were just the cosmic forces of the universe making it possible for us to meet and fall in love... just a few months before he tragiclly died in a car accident, leaving me in terrible pain, but transformed forever and forever grateful that I had the chance to know such a beautiful person and that I had the chance to experience these capsules or moments of pure & perfect happyness and harmony. He is my my gardian angel through this day, 14 years later...
