in Why Mommy Blogging is No Longer a Radical Act on Suburban Turmoil
I think what we are all noticing is the failure of a decent economic model to emerge to support writers who blog. In its absence, we are getting some base common denominator stuff that is led by advertisers and the (too often) inauthentic spokespeople who want to represent them. We need a new way!

Hear hear. I would love for this topic to come up at one of the BlogHer panels in a few weeks.

thanks for your encouragement to advocate--and for all of you who didn't slack and paved the way for me. They were very apologetic and fair. Almost makes me want to believe in ATT again.

Facebooked and emailed, off to tweet.
i met a librarian at SXSW (she was asking for unwanted stickers for her students) who told me getting a project funded through DC was the highlight of her year. Donors Choose is awesome, and so is your endeavor.

Now that's a cool project. I love the infusion of humor to the awareness and request for support messages. Very humane!

Hey Deb! Yeah, I liked it too. I just wish I'd stumbled on it before Christmas...ahem. Oh well! Happy New Year to you, by the way.

in Tumblr’s CEO brainstorms microblog monetization on Scobleizer
Charging users fees is looking in the wrong direction for revenue. We need to think of users as the suppliers, not the customers. Twitter would be better served to generate proprietary ways manipulate and package its abundance of user generated content. By targeting B2B analysis, and by creating trafficed channels beyond Search, Twitter would have revenue streams, some of which could be used to pay quality.

I hope you get what your soul needs from a little break. You are absolutely right, people don't need to post everyday. Especially now that readers will tell us when you are back.

in Lifestyle Investing: “Compound Time” Like Compound Interest? on The Blog of Author Tim Ferriss
Interesting. I think about it more in terms being able to bend time than I do in creating a greater "value" for your time that would translate into a higher salary or even capacity--those are just additional benefits. If you think of time as linear, you'll be stabbed continually on the point of your own line. When you are in the zone doing what you love--even if that is doing nothing sitting on the edge of a river- time bends to a much happier shape. That's the real compounding (and compelling) interest.

Bex--
I've spent many years in the education, social service and NGO fields. I'd like you to consider that a very simple, clean room with some supplies and mats is adequate but not opulent. All children deserve an uplifted environment that conveys a sense of care and connotes the importance of education. Sometimes cutting corners to build at the bare minimum doesn't accomplish the goal--though it sounds like it was indeed created for very little money!.
Tim--Great crowdsourcing story!

in The Grand Illusion: The Real Tim Ferriss Speaks on The Blog of Author Tim Ferriss
People are so funny. But now that I see how people feel about that little prank, I think it's time to say:
I am the real Tim Ferriss.
I thought my ideas would sell better if they weren't from a single mother of 2 teenagers, so I hired a hunky male model to make some videos and travel around a few hours a week as my lead character.
I'm sorry if you feel it was deception--it's just marketing 2.0, and it worked well in Beta through Second Life.
###
LOL... my God that was funny! Deb, I almost accidentally headbutted the wall laughing on that one.
