Mostly I just wanted to show off my knowledge that "http://" is a "protocol identifier". :-)

My vote is stacked with tagline. Ignore these folks about the protocol identifier.

I certainly hope you're joking.

Also, don't forget the slash at the end.

Love the shot of the hunter's *running shoes* as the narrator is talking about how men hunted before they had weapons.

Vegan LOL I noticed the same thing "When a hunter had nothing more than physical enduriance with which to gain his prize.."(Pan down to Nike product placement).

The other thing that I noticed was how cinematic the whole thing was. At first I thought, oh that's a re-enactment but they (the camera crew) which at times in this "hunt" was filming from a helicopter and at other times was on wheels.. followed the runner all the way to the kill, which frankly looked like the animal was shot with a tranquilliser and collapsed not from "sheer exhaustion" but from sheer narcotics. As someone that has collapsed from both I know the dif :)

I'm calling this a Bear Gryll hunt :)

What do you do with your old body? Toss it in the trash? Technically he's still just as much you as you are.

This article is rife with the sort of generalities and uncertainties in previous predictions about this thing. Last I heard, AT&T has exclusivity until 2010.

I actually played the NES version for a while (Gameboy had been out quite a while before I got one), so I got to see it in color.

...after that every other clone paled in comparison.

in Can the Internet Replace Cable TV? on dmiessler.com | grep understanding
Some time ago I found a cute little app called TVShows (http://tvshows.sourceforge.net/)which allows you to "subscribe" to almost any show on tv and it automatically pulls torrents for you from tvrss.net (http://tvrss.net).

Then of course there's the Roku box (http://www.roku.com/), which allows you to watch Netflix and Amazon on-demand stuff right on your TV. I hear they may add support for Hulu and youtube soon.

in How to Find Your Information Within Your DRM-Free iTunes Songs on dmiessler.com | grep understanding
That's why I always re-encode my mp3s. With iTunes Store purchases (which I don't make that often), there's that extra step to have iTunes convert the .mp4s to .mp3s, but in my mind it's still worth it to get rid of any possible DRM or Tagging taint.

in An English Grammar Question on dmiessler.com | grep understanding

Depends on how many opinions they had, not how many subjects there are.

People can share an opinion (ex: My parents' opinion on the matter is that we should not elope), or they can have two opinions.

Using the singular "opinion" infers that you asked them at the same time and they both had similar replies. Using the plural "opinions" infers that you either asked them separately or that each subject had a different opinion.

Oh, and in this case, each name should always end with an apostrophe followed by an s, even if the name ends with an s:

Bejtlich's
Ranmus's

...since there's only one Bejtlich and one Ranmus.

McCain just wanted to look smart. The best way to do that is to surround yourself with idiots.

Every time I visit, my mom says something about why she's voting for McCain/Palin. She's very impressed with McCain's decision of a running mate, and tells me that "the Democrats" have spread lies about her ignorance and lack of experience.

I remember once she told me she's voting for McCain because he would do more to "combat the terrorist threat."

For the most part I smile and nod and refuse to comment.

Strange, it's for that reason that my parents don't vote democrat -- they think the dems make decisions with their emotions without regard to viable policy.

in Obama Being Exceedingly Clear About His Tax Plan on danielmiessler.com | grep understanding

McCain's trying a tax technique that Regan tried back in the 80's called "trickle-down economics" (or "Reganomics"). Basically you give tax breaks to 200K+ folks (mostly big businesses) and the savings trickle down from on high.

The flaw in the design is that, even though companies will raise prices when their taxes go up, the inverse is not always true. If you cut a company's taxes they'll realize that they can get a greater profit without cutting prices... so nothing changes and we get screwed.
