Genius, really... let's consolidate credit, remove competition and make banks establish brick and mortar establishments throughout the country. That can't be anything but good for the American consumer... right?

But it is a said day for all those people getting laid off at Wachovia. One of my ex-co-workers at Plaza Home Mortgage when to Wachovia and just got laid off. Morgan, I swear, I just started hearing the words on CNBC again yesterday, "Is the worst over now?"........I feel like reaching into the TV, yanking those people by the throat and saying, "F NO!!!"

Wachovia's been on a drunken binge of acquisitions for years. This had to come around and bite them sooner or later. They can close their wholesale window but it still won't save them from themselves.
