Virginia is starting her Junior year and it freaks me out and makes me so sad to think she only has two more years and she is out of our house. Next summer we will be visiting colleges. Wow. Maybe it will be easier with the others but Virginia, the first one out, that's going to be hard.

Re: Today is a gift. Are they confusing the issue here by making Android apps available or were Chrome Packaged Apps not getting enough traction? Are the rules different because you are from the social media world rather than the traditional media world? Are our expectations different for social media than they are for traditional media?

Re: The future of podcasting, 6 years later

What gets me about this article is..... 10 years of podcasting. We can't just go back to sugar or honey. Drinking coffee back, say what you want, but I hate it. Real sugar is as much, or more, of a poison for diabetics as potential hazards of sweeteners like Splenda. Yes I am sure we have over sweetened in general, but we also over salt as well. I think there is a human disposition to sweetness as well. Why does chocolate taste so good and it has for many, many years?

When you're a diabetic, you're dealing with a whole other set of circumstances and life becomes more complex I am sick of diabetics getting the short end of the stick. So much attention is paid to low fat, but so many foods purported to be healthy are loaded with sugar, which goes to your point, but as diabetics, we need viable options. This is bad and disappointing news in my opinion.

Re: Apple Raises Cellular Data Cap to 100 MB

When are they going to increase the base amount of iCloud storage? 5Gig is an embarrassment.

Re: A content marketing trick you learned in elementary school

Love this idea, but I cannot figure out what top level category we belong in. I think it all about very short term thinking. This campaign and that campaign. You do the campaign and then it's over. That's fine for traditional media but in the social world, as you have pointed out, there is an opportunity to have an ongoing relationship. Shockingly many businesses are still not attune to the new social marketing realities. They are attempting to use the new tools but with the same old rules.

Re: Kony 2012

Same with me. I had not seen the video and it was my daughter who came and said have you seen this yet? She changed her twitter and Facebook profile pic.

Usually she's only interested in trivial junk on tv being a newly minted teenager. I was glad to see her take on a real issue.

Re: The Slow Death of Flickr

As an old school social media guy like you cc, it is very sad for me too see this. Yahoo took on some of the most loved social media properties and have wasted them away. Heck, even Yahoo itself was once so loved and is a pale shadow of it's former self. Time marches on and so does technology. Unfortunately, Yahoo has not been able to keep pace.

Re: Scripting News: Angry Birds on TV

You know I really did not like that commercial at all. After college, I had an idea to rent an rv and just travel around for a month before jumping into the working world. I didn't do it, but so wish I had. I have another idea to travel around in the summe or late fall and visit all the major and historic baseball stadiums.

Re: Are You One of The Crazies?

Much as I love me some social media, I have to say when I get to go to an in person networking event, for example, it's like a dip in a cool pool on a hot summer afternoon. Any kind of unlicensed music or lip syncing in the background used to be grounds for a video shut down.

I like the campfire metaphor. Built the campfire and turn no one away who wants to come and sit. Sometimes the campfire is built for you and all you need to do is stay out of the way. Amazing how many businesses are still shooting themselves in the foot trying to "protect" their content. If I am right I believe Kanye literally gave away half of this album on the Internet months before it's release anyway and it hasn't hurt a thing.

Re: I Always Wanted to Be an Artist

An architect. I also wanted to be a movie reviewer because I admired Rodger Ebert so much.

The greatest gift of the Internet is that it allows you to create in any form you are comfortable with. You can write or use audio, video and photos.

Re: Did Facebook Bring Us Email 2.0?

I think it's messaging for what I call the 140 generation. It doesn't need to be an email killer because young people will kill email themselves over time. This is a slow play for Facebook, which is very smart.
