Inventor Fusion Tech Preview Ready for Direct/Parametric Mashup

Thanks for the heads up for the Inventor Fusion beta. Will definitely have to play around with this some more.

The circular context menu is neat. I see that Solidworks 2010 Beta also has a Mouse gesture support to execute the most relevant commands. Per the what's new PDF: You can use a mouse gesture as a shortcut to execute a command, similar to a keyboard shortcut. Once you learn command mappings, you can use mouse gestures to invoke mapped commands quickly.

To activate a mouse gesture, from the graphics area, right-click and drag in one of eight directions: Straight up or down, straight left or right, or along a diagonal.
When you right-click and drag, a guide appears, showing the command mappings for the eight gesture directions and highlighting the command you are about to select.

Re: Ask the Reader: What Would You Do if You Got Laid-Off?

Daniel! Love it man! I bookmarked that yesterday to link here if no one mentioned it!! Awesome. Everyone check this out FOR SURE. It may give you some ideas.

For blogging after getting laid-off, I'd suggest something that could at least bring in a little cash :) - see thekeywordacademy.com - takes a little bit 4-6 months but it's definitely possible to make some cash off blogs.

Re: Ask the Reader: What Would You Do if You Got Laid-Off?

Besides the obvious networking, update resume, and getting back into the corporate rat race, I'm surprised no one has mentioned making it on your own as an entrepreneur? Forbes has a recent article on exactly this topic:

http://www.forbes.com/2009/01/08/mitra-laidoff-...

Or be like Josh and start a cool blog! =)

Re: The Big Book of SolidWorks Selections Tricks (In One Little Post)

This is great stuff! While reading this, I'm reminded of a tip from the conference about selecting internal edges when you are converting edges from sketch mode. Typically, when you select a face, it will grab only the outside edges, but if you select that face and any internal edge, you convert the inside edges instead. Maybe this is common knowledge, but it was a revelation for me!

Re: SolidWorks World 2010: Sappy Self-Help? I'm so glad I got to meet you there! AMAZING story. ha!! definitely on the resourceful side.

I'm not sure about exhibitors. Seems like that would be the case.

Re: SolidWorks World 2010: Sappy Self-Help? I was one of those that had to think 'outside the box' to make it down to the conference. =P

What about if your company becomes an exhibitor? I think you get some free passes as well?

Re: SMACK!
