in My 2008 Top Online Friends on The Broad Brush
I'm so happy and honored to be considered one of your top friends. I hope you know that you are one of mine as well. More like family really but you know what I mean. I love that you took the time to think about some special people and write a little about them. Some of them I already know and admire and some are new to me so I'll be following them too. Any friend of yours is a friend of mine and has got to be a great person.

I can't even begin to put into words how much you have enriched my life. You have such a wonderful, kind, caring and generous spirit. What you put out into the world always comes back to you so you'll always be surrounded by amazing people.

You're in my thoughts every day and in my prayers every night. Happy New Year my friend!

in Pepsi, are you listening? on The Broad Brush
Did you see Pepsi's suicide campaign? http://tinyurl.com/6c42c3 If Pepsi really wants to know what's going on they should take a look at http://www.summize.com/search?q=%23pepsi to get a feel for what people think about their recent ad campaign. Talk about tasteless.

tojosan Yes, the suicide ads is a big fail. I'd like to think that happen in isolation in a way. I'm willing to wager the main corporate folks would never have approved.

in Who Cares Advertising on Chris Brogan
If you're looking at a row of items that you want to try but have never had before then knowing which one was voted #1 might be a good idea - unless of course it's a baseless claim. Does anyone believe advertising claims anymore anyway? If I'm trying something for the 1st time I tend to go more with what works for the people I trust.

in Twitter to bring “Death to America”! Twitter as a Terrorist tool? on There's a Blog in my Soup!
The bottom line is that everyone, not just military service members or government officials, needs to observe OPerational SECurity or OPSEC.

The Ten OPSEC Points everyone should observe are:

Don’t discuss current or future destinations, ports of call, or bases.
Don’t discuss current or future operations or missions.
Don’t discuss current or future dates and times of exercises or missions.
Don’t discuss readiness issues and numbers.
Don’t discuss specific training equipment.
Don’t discuss people’s names, military occupation or operations.
Don’t speculate about current or future operations.
Don’t spread rumors about current, future, or past operations or movements.
Don’t assume the enemy is not trying to collect information on you; they are.

Be smart, use your head, and always think OPSEC when using email, phone, social media etc

in Do you really know who is following you? on Twittermaven
This is not far fetched at all. Why wouldn't terrorists use the media (new media and social media included) to further their goals and get information? Everyone else is using for their businesses.

Hell, they wouldn't even have to work all that hard either since nightly the main stream media loves to point out America's weaknesses and vulnerabilities.

warrenss Dayngr, that is great advice. We should all be conscious of security and identity in social media. Sometimes the social media ideals of transparency and authenticity require more vigilance, awareness, and security.

Thanks,

in I am not an American on Scobleizer
I think it's awesome that people feel secure enough in our amazing country to speak their minds. Freedom os speech is a beautiful thing.

I do have one major issue though with your post, it's the part where you say It’s enough to make me want to move to Australia. America is great because of it's diversity and because great people fought to make it as amazing as it is. If you love it, stay and help usher in change. If you don't then maybe you should go elsewhere.

in Small Town USA, Would You Live There? on thattalldude
Work is the #1 thing keeping people away from small town America in my opinion. It is what's keeping me away. I'd love to leave the big city behind but work is an issue. Small towns have better housing prices but lower paying jobs. Another major issue for me is technology. I need cell phone service that works and is competitive along with internet service that is the same. While living in VA in a not so big city area and not so small town area everything took forever in the technology department - but at least there were options. Schools have to be top notch too.
I'd move to a small town in a minute - especially now that I'm a mom.

Noah said ...TWITTER society manipulating public opinion like it does, negotiations are going to look like Jimmy Carter’s shit smile with Hamas.

Noah, maybe that's your twitter stream but that certainly isn't mine. Nonetheless, it's not about whether people are for or against the war. It's about supporting our troops through correspondence.
