I really just wanted to say that #1 is really very important - Working registration I can say that I was happy to see a number of people who had never been to a podcamp or any camp for that matter. Also - really liked having it at the school that we did, because we had a ton of students ask about what was going on, even signed a few up right on the spot. We were able to give them a breif intro to what it was all about. I really encourage future podcamps to really market to college students, as I know from experience being involved in community was really an influential part of the past 2 years. Cheers.

I was thinking of that the other day - but LinkedIn has the overall goal to connect people to people and potentially to careers. Your profile is mostly professional and educational data, a really well laid out resume. When it comes to hiring and looking for a job, physical appearance is one of the things that tends to lead to discrimination(even though it is illegal) - I would say LinkedIn possibly left it off for that reason?

To quote Bryper "I would also like to know the context of the situation a bit better before launching into a judgmental rant." That is exactly how I felt when Chris invited me to join the conversation.

On that note, I still feel that way and can't even begin to think about what the right answer is regarding the actions of the other students. For the simple fact it would be misconstrued as abusing an officer, I personally would have stayed away, and who knows what could have happened if the mob mentality were to set in.

Also, I wonder too if it is a case of racial profiling but it frustrates me that its the first thought that comes into our minds. Not that it isn't possible, or that it's not a critical question to ask, but it is frustrating none the less.

...because this discussion isn't only about the content of the video, but the citizen-journalism and media that surrounds posting videos like this on youtube, I am curious if any of the students involved have made their story public in blogs.

Great idea. I was just sending my resume out to several places looking for part time help with "new media" ventures, and was looking at a way to spice it up without getting in to making a full blown portfolio page, and this... this looks like the answer.
