Here is what burns me - Brian Ibbott put the show together for his Coverville 500. A show that showcases a lot of his cheese...to bad.

I listened to your show today. Excellent article (blog post) to bring up. Which brings up a question that I have: If people are looking for the more social aspect of life and are wanting to connect, as podcast producers (and I am one as well) the competition to be heard just got a lot more competitive. If this is the case, Why do I podcast?
That is an answer that everyone has to find on their own. My reason, I like music and I like to have fun with the productions. I also want other people to hear it. Am I trying to make a big statement - Not most of the time.(I will leave out episode 26 of that consideration)
What Jerry Del Colliano has told me in his blog is that people are taking time to listen to what they want to hear when they want to hear it. (One reason why I try to stay away from time sensitive stuff on my shows) You can listen to each show when you want to. Competition for listens just got tougher. People are not going to be drones and listen to podcasts all day (I do but I will get to that in a min) They are going to be doing there thing. If you have a good show that is consistent and releases on schedule then your chances of drawing an audience that is hungry for the content that you are providing greatly increases...(whew did I say all that).
As for your question...
I have been looking for alternatives to iTunes for a while. I use to use my podder but it would consistently miss episodes of shows that I was subscribed to. Songbird seems to have an option as well as winamp 5.5
I am not happy with these answers either but see that I am not a programmer I have not figured out how to make my own catcher.
BTW that song is not blues...it may have blues in the title but that ain't blues...That's JAZZ! (Woohoo! I love that style of jazz I don't hear enough)
