And you are totally right your recommendation of being a lifelong student. In truth, that is one of the beauties of blogging. You immerse yourself in the culture and you are able to sift through amazing amounts of information. But you are always current and updated in your knowledge!

Re: Making your website work harder

This is a fantastic idea! It will be of monumental importance because there are so many smaller businesses who are missing out on the much larger picture that the internet can give them!

Something you might want to touch on is search engine optimization as well. I consult heavily in the area and would love to give a hand if you thought is was worth it.

It is one thing to have a website and have great content, but search engines need to get what they want in order to index it effectively!

Re: http://blog.cristinafavreau.com/2006/12/whats-holding-you-back/

Great thoughts Cristina! I find that the networking /marketing events that I attend are 100% more beneficial when I ask more questions than I answer. People generally like talking about themselves and their ideas. And once you get the know what they do, you can refer customers to them (when appropriate).

It is rare that someone takes a genuine interest in what you are doing, so there is a better chance they will remember you! More times than not, by just listening, you get more referrals than you could ask for. It is all about branding yourself AND your business.

Re: Using Questions to Connect and Build Relationships

Great write-up! A few things I will be trying at the next event! The key is each question engages the other person, and not necessarily on the business/sales pitch level. It is more about asking the other's opinion (and we know people love to share those :0) ). Fantastic..

Re: Your own words

Great article. It is nice to comment and create discussion. I leave comments everywhere I go. It is fun to see what someone else is thinking. All of the programs say that they are graphical, then you install them and it is a tiny fraction of what you expected..

Which has me thinking.. I have been thinking about starting a wiki for a while now. I have a lot of readers who get into freeware and open source. What do you think about starting a free ware wiki? There are several on the internet now, but none of them are very simple to navigate and most of them just have a listing of the software and there links. We could write reviews and experiences.

Its just an idea. I am writing a book and I though of putting a wiki up for that too..

Let me know what you think!

Re: Today’s free files

Here are a couple:
http://freewarewiki.pbwiki.com/
http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/index.cfm?a=wiki...
http://www.pricelesswarehome.org/

This is probably the best looking one but just has links to everything:
http://freewaretank.pbwiki.com/

That is really about it for wiki's that offer any sort of decent information about software. Google is amassing a wealth of data, and has already been asked to release search results. Whether you have an account or not with them, you can be associated by ip address and sometimes mac address. Even if you delete that cookie that google saves, when you go back to the site, google will simply reassociate your pc with the old search results. I strongly believe that AOL is the first in a string of these releases.

Browsing anonymously is slow, like you said. Another place to go for information about the topic is eff.org.
