in The Power Of Passed Links (continued) on A VC
i work in games and this would be a metric i would love to get my hands on, and more importantly find some way of stimulating the pass along. its always said if you can measure it, you can optimise it.In terms of undersatnding your dashboard and getting a full perspective on where your traffic is coming from, this could swing spend away from advertising and towards more compelling content creation.

i'd second the vote above for "from good to great" (when i started my job the ceo gave it to me and said it was his bible).
i'd also add guy kawasaki's "art of the start". bootstrapping lessons that everyone can benefit from

in The Old Advertising Merry Go Round on Chris Brogan
I’m conflicted. I appreciated what you do here and I don’t think you should have to do it for free. As a visitor it doesn’t make a difference to me whether or not there is advertising on your blog (I don’t think it compromises your integrity). However the level of engagement that I will have with the advertising aside from branding will be minimal.

in Why Are You Investigating Social Media on Chris Brogan
social media is another channel to communicate to people with. it is not something as scaleable as direct response as search or banners, but it is great for the "softer" side of things like changing perceptions and branding.
