Great post Ryan, couldn't agree with you more.

I'd like to add one item to your list, although some may not agree with me. I cannot stand, nor do I understand, when people put much of their content up on the web in PDF format. For whatever reason, I've noticed a seemingly high number of winery websites using the dreaded PDF format, which does nothing but slow down my browsing experience. If you want to send me a PDF file via email, I'm OK with that, but PDF should not be used on the web in my mind.

Tim--the $$ wasn't the only thing that prevented us from going with four corks for the overall rating. For whatever reason, we just didn't feel the 'wow' factor while we were on-site. It's a nice winery, nice tasting room, etc.--but at the end of the day, nothing really blew our socks off.

Good stuff Brian--glad you had a better experience than we did! We couldn't agree more that in any services-based business, the level and quality of service can vary from time-to-time. We certainly plan to give CDV another chance at some point in the future--and who can argue with their solid wines for less than astronomical prices as you point out?

Cindy--not only does the tour include lots of walking, but it includes lots of stair climbing as you traverse the multiple levels. My wife is nearly six months pregnant and it was nearly too much for her. I'd suggest NOT doing the tour if your mom just had hip surgery. If you do wind up going to the castle, stop back by and let us know what you thought!

Thanks Jeff, sounds like we had similar thoughts. Turnbull was definitely not a favorite of ours, but it wasn't the worst place we've visited either. Would be curious to know what you thought about the other 20-odd wineries you hit up during your time in the valley. What was your favorite and why?

Sometimes the day-job gets in the way! ;) I think a great first-step to begin promoting the new widgets would be to write a blog post on your respective blogs to let your readers know the widget exists! Just like a blog, a widget is NOT an 'if you build it, they will come' deal.

Jason--you're right, we just picked up two bottles from the Napa TJ's for $3.99 each this week. For that price, you absolutely cannot go wrong. Another good option, we picked up two bottles of the '05 Skrew Kappa Napa Cabernet Sauvignon for $9.99 each tonight at our local Safeway--check it out.

We're looking into the status of the Wine4Grilling with Trinchero Family Estates, but they're being (surprisingly) a bit difficult. We just picked up a box of the Red at our local World Market (they had the white as well), but granted, we're in the Napa Valley so that may explain why it is still in stock...
