cool tip i will try that.

my trick for hard boiled eggs is i hold the egg about 4 inches off the counter and just drop it on its side. it almost always breaks/shakes all the shell lose and i can remove the entire shell in 1-2 pieces in about 1 second.

also, cooling the eggs in an ice bath right after you boil them is important if you like a nice bright yellow color yolk when they're done. :)

ahhh you write a script first, got it ;) i know there are some podcasting transcription tools...maybe they would work for video. i have actually considered setting fire to my old PC just for the pure satisfaction i would get out of it. my new Mac boots up about three times as fast, and that alone makes it worth it - let alone all the million other reasons. :)

I grew up on a Mac, then went to PC land for far too long, now I'm back on a Mac and it is SO much better. I put all the specs of my new Mac recently on my blog if you're curious which one I chose.

Question for you, Jim: did you transcribe that video yourself or did you use some sort of software tool to transcribe that text for you? I'd love to find a tool to transcribe videos automatically...

I didn't realize those were still unrealeased? I saw one a couple weeks ago at a cafe in Palos Verdes and I just assumed it had recently gone on the market...

Great tips! "Flow-inducing hobbies" are a great idea. I took last Friday off to go skiing and didn't miss work one bit. It required my full mental/physical concentration, so thinking about work wasn't even an option. :)

Tim, I'm a loyal reader of this blog and I think it is absolutely awesome you take time to read a lot of the comments and respond to them.

I'm not sure if you knew about it...but there are some plugins for Wordpress called "threaded comments" that allow you to more easily reply to comments, and reply-to-replies etc.. - which is super helpful for a highly active blog like yours. If you google "wordpress threaded comments" you'll see what I'm talking about.

You might be happy with your current process of replying to comments, but I thought I'd just share that with you if you were unaware of it. :)

The only thing holding me back from a mac is my thrifty side that is telling me to squeeze a little more use out of my pc before I go mac...but I'll be there soon.

I think I'm one of those tyrannical consumers. I often delete and flag messages without ever opening them...but I like to think I'm usually accurate?

I use gmail for all my email addresses and haven't looked back. There is also gmail for domains...
