in usll on Major League Soccer Talk
I honestly think the problem with attracting the casual fan, is the fact that in most areas of the country where fans have an opportunity to see an MLS or USL team, there is very limited coverage on both TV and radio. In the Chicago market, we get some coverage a one off article, here or there, and I don't blame that on the writers because we do have writers that try (it is getting better though). However, on TV and radio, there is very limited exposure, little to no mention on the nightly news and no mention on the Sports networks. The casual fans needs exposure to the game before they will be willing to follow it.

in Seasons Greetings From GolTV on EPL Talk
a good gift from goltv, a return to Dish Network. Dare to dream, though I highly doubt a return when they are fighting over fee's in court.

in Why Americans Don’t Get Soccer on EPL Talk
I think feet are a very valuable tool in all American sports. You will see and hear from the great NBA, NFL, Baseball, and NHL, that a key to their abilities is not only their hand eye coordination but their footwork. This is especially evident in basketball, that even though it is a very hand oriented game, you can not be successful without great footwork. Perhaps this is the reason that there is alot of love between soccer and NBA athletes. They understand the need to move your feet.

in GolTV Acquires TV Rights To 2009 European Under-21 Championship on EPL Talk
Any word, on if there is a chance, even a miniscule one, that Gol TV will come back to Dish? I guess the worse case scenario is if you package your Dish through AT&T, come February of next year, I believe AT&T will start offering DirecTV, instead of DISH, and maybe give a nice intro package. DARE TO DREAM!!!

The Gaffer Not a word unfortunately. Right now, the chances of GolTV and DISH Network signing a deal are very, very slim. You'd be better signing up for Verizon FIOS or DirecTV.

Cheers,

in Poll: Electronic Signboard Advertising in EPL Matches on EPL Talk
i voted distracting, however though I believe they are annoying, they are a necessary evil, as teams continue to look for new ways to make money.

in Where Have All Of The Transfers Gone? on EPL Talk
Agreed, the transfer season is silly, and it would make sense to conclude it before the season begins, so we can focus on the games and not who else is on the verge of a move. However, whether you shorten the season to 10, 15, or leave it at a month, a large number of deals will conclude at the end of the period. It is human nature in all sales negotiations to wait till the end of the month/quarter/year to conclude the deal. Why? Desperation, if you need to close the deal or move a player or buy one, you are more willing to (depending on your needs) pay up or get a discount.

Oh and why do people go to Spain and Italy, I think the weather and culture (i.e. food) may help, but I'm definately not an expert on continental climate or cuisine. Keep up the good work, and be thankful the silly season is almost over.

in MLS and the Mexican Federation: A Beautiful Friendship on Major League Soccer Talk
I've heard this somewhere before, and I don't recall where. It may even have been from you Kartik, but is the FMF and MLS ultimate goal to have a club system that crosses borders. They both already travel alot, whats another hour or two in the air. In that scenario, you get the US $'s and the Mexican talent. I dont' know how you decide what teams participate and how promotion and relegation would work, but could that be the long term plan for the FMF and Sum????
