My first chance to see you will probably be at the Boot Camp.
I'll be looking - need a new 3D controller...
Steve

Re: Richard Doyle - The Man, The Myth, The Legend

I echo your comments about Richard. He certainly loves his job. I feel fortunate that I get to see Richard at every SW User Group meeting I attend, since we both live in central Texas.
Steve

Re: Richard Doyle - The Man, The Myth, The Legend

I figured that you'd be there earlier than I and I really didn't have a chance in seeing you before someone else did. I'm just trying to help generate some more interest in SWW2007 and maybe yours and all the other fine SW blogs that are out there.
I look forward to meeting you and discussing SW in New Orleans.
Steve

Re: 3DConnexion and Acrobat 3D

I can't wait to hear your story about 3D Acrobat. I'm trying to start using E-Drawings as a method other than PDF's but if 3D Acrobat is better, then maybe we'll go in that direction.
Keep up the good work,
Steve

Re: Acrobat 3D…Damn!

Jeff, I'm eagerly waiting for your review as well. I have already coined the term "on-line parts manual" before here at work using E-Drawings and have waited before any further testing is done because I saw Adobe 3D at SWW2007 and wanted to see if anyone is/will be using it. If you're that excited, it has to mean that this works in a way we haven't seen before. I'm mainly concerned about BOM's along with drawings and seeing this in a 3D setting so that our field personnel can look at the model and select which part needs to be replaced and have the knowledge of how and where it is placed in the actual model.
Steve

Re: SolidMap - My Thoughts

Greetings, Jeff. Loved your review and I guess I didn't expect any different answer than you gave us. Two nights ago, at our Central Texas User Group meeting, we saw Solid Map along with a small review from one of our users. His thoughts were the same about price and ROI. He also said that any good modeler could find all this info now without SM. The only good side to all this is the ability to graphically see what links go where.
I'm goning to try this myself mainly because SM gave away 2 licenses during our user group and I won one but also, because as you've said, it would make things easier when you inherit someone else's part file.
Steve

Re: Can you see into the future?

I don't remember "Drafting Dan" but I do recall "Peter Puck" which was a hockey puck that came on TV and taught us about the great game of hockey. Now, I say that to get to my point, I also remember my Dad's Popular Mechanics magazine which told me I'd be driving (flying) cars around the turn of the century. This hasn't happened, which means it is hard to tell the future.
I like the "Minority Report" interface for designing parts. I don't need no stinking monitor.
Steve
BTW, Jeff. I grew up with Calvin Schiraldi who pitched for the Sox in 1986, so I'm a sox fan myself.

Re: More stuff in the works…

Jeff, I have an idea. I'm in the process right now of looking at a new Dell workstation (actually 2) and I have been given a 16:9 24" monitor to use as well. I have noticed that my mouse movement, from left to right, on this landscape monitor has increased. Is there a mouse (wireless or not) out there that can be programmed to work in a small rectangle that would limit my wrist movements? In the old days while working with Cadkey, I used a SummaSketch II tablet in which I could limit the space required to move from one side of the screen to the other, it was a 3x3 square.
Steve

Re: What the heck was I thinking?

Jeff, for the few that I've done, I've always started off with, "Let's learn something together". Most have said here that getting the audience interested is important, and I agree, but you have to remember, 'The topic is King'. Discuss ways to make parts different, like my favorite new feature was the ability to mirror flanges. Talk about grouping feature and putting them a folder. Talk about naming these features. I hate nothing more that opening a model and seeing :Extrude1, Extrude2, Cut1 and Cut2, etc.
Use this oportunity to not only teach sheet metal but to teach modeling in general.
Have fun...
Steve

Re: Time for a change

Does this mean we won't see your Red Sox logo at the discussion group? Not the video but you guys doing this. :-)
See you @ SWW
Steve
BTW, any chance you'd be giving away a spaceball?
**Hey Steve. Our VAR, MLC-CAD, has to be one of the best. They are always at our local user group meeting and have time to set down and discuss what's going on. They put on great release parties. They understand the importance of an active user group.
Steve

Re: Another Chapter Begins

Welcome back, Jeff.

Re: Thoughts on SWW

Hi, my west coast Red Sox fan, I'm sorry to read, in this drivel, that Stump the Chumps II won't be shown, what a drag. You should see the crap I have to put up with here dealing with our old US PN system (two different formats, 6-3 and 3-6-3) and now with our Global system Smarteam we have Wx?????? numbers. The x stands for what country is was created in (not owned) and that would be U (USA), M (Malmo, Sweden) T (Talamona, Italy) R (Rio, Brazil)and C (China). I don't have a problem with the new numbering system and/or the new PDM system it's just that I have to keep all this togehter and remember which CAD system to use with each.
I love my job...
Steve
