in FactCheck.Org Defends McCain Against Obama Oil Claims on The Washington Independent
The so called "maverick" has shown himself to be anything but a maverick the way he has embraced the Bush legacy. Any tax break to industry, including big oil is a sham. Yes we need to reform our industrial tax code, but in order to do this you cannot lower taxes and leave remaining tax loop holes that in some cases drop corperate taxes 7-10% on top of the 10% just given them. This is why this country is broke today and why we continue to give breaks, big government contracts to companies that have moved outside the US and hide their profits, while we reward them with "corporate wealfare" contracts. With the recent profit margins enjoyed by the oil companies, they should be paying off our defecit so the country would be more solvent and better off. I mean isn't Iraq about the oil?

in White House, CIA Forged a Saddam-Al Qaeda Connection? on The Washington Independent
This comes as no surprise when you look at Joe Wilson's trip and findings, the rapid calls especially from Cheney's office about unpatriotic, traitors, etc. that challenged this Administrations allegations. The cries from Bush?Cheney and Co. came so fast and furious it only confirmed for me what I truly suspected all along. The pretext for war was a lie. This finally was born out for me several months ago when ExxonMobil, Shell and the others somehow quickly regained their oil fields in no bid contracts that they had lost when Hussien nationalized them.

in Obama to Shift Event Strategy on The Washington Independent
I hope when Obama does make this change he will come more to criticize the stance McSame has taken with regards to energy, the economy, the war etc. with the facts. I fill that he would strongly benefit if he made it personal and direct, not nasty, but in a manner and style that those who hear it hear it as a specific, rather then a generalized statement that fit all the Republicans.

in McConnell, Mukasey: Bush Will Veto A Delay of Even Ten Minutes on Retroactive Telecom Immunity! on The Washington Independent
It is funny to see this filed under the heading National Security. Should not the category here be National Telecom Insecurity?

in The Answer: Cut Arts Funding on The Washington Independent
It is assinine for this to be allowed. We have troops in harms way who can't get food, ammunition, spare parts for vehicals and other essential basic supplies our forces need. There are recent reports that some of our aircraft for air defense here are unfliable for this very reason as well. So we spend billions so a couple of Pentagon generals can be assured of a lucrative position within the areospace/defense industry. When the hell is someone going to stand up and say "enough already".

in ‘It Becomes Almost Impossible To Find A Purpose In What We Do.’ on The Washington Independent
This young officer's letter is like so many others serving over in Iraq who are not allowed (blocked) from speaking their minds through emails, YouTube, FaceBook and various blogs. They are blocked, letters screened for anti Iraq senitment. It wouldn't be surpirsing to me to find out that a majority of troops feel this way, however their desire to serve with their units and stay with their commrads is twisted and distorted into pro war propaganda. Why do you think the suicide rate is so high for our service men and women?

in What Ever Happened to the Fairness Doctrine? on The Washington Independent
It is not surprising that this happened under Republican rules, which had this happened to Rush, or O'Reilly these same individuals would be howling. There are ways to punish this stations managers and the group controlling them. Boycotte is an immediate way. Another is to use this and any other cases like this to protest the re-issuing of this station's broadcast license when it comes up for renewal.
