I'm sure you have. Other than the kids wearing upside-down crucifixes, we don't advertise much.
We are teachers, cops, lawyers, business people. We value intelligence and achievement, so it is not surprising that we gravitate towards positions of influence and responsibility. We dress and behave commensurate with that kind of place in society. I'm, taking the time to respond because your original piece seemed thoughtful and not motivated by the majority assumptions people make about Satanism. I'm sure your teacher was delighted to receive another assignment that had been exhaustively researched. On Wikipedia :)
If you'd made the effort to dig a little deeper, you would have realised that Satanists don't need to beg Satan for forgiveness of any 'sins'. If we make mistakes, we learn, pay for them and move on.

b) I'll admit that I took some liberties with this... I wasn't going for research value, but instead for a teacher-shock value
I mixed LaVayan Satanism with dashes of Wicca and some good old fashioned made up nonsense (Google "Vierendelen" and you'll see what I mean)....
That's how Wikipedia was helpful- in my creation of this mishmash of scare tactics- not in actual research value.
But I'm glad someone picked up on it! ;-)

As a "devout" atheist, I completely understand the "value intelligence and achievement" part... one of the things "we" hate most is stupid cows who believe what they're told, and follow doctrines because they're supposed to.
I'll check out your suggestions, because I have a tendency to ... gravitate ... toward the darker things in life, and have always had a curiosity for these things. But I doubt I'll be converting anytime soon... ;-)
