First off honey, you want to make sure when you post something on the net, you don't come off sounding as stupid as the subject matter. Because is cut short with cause...not casue...and "he is not a pretty boy by NO means" makes you sound like the "HICK" most people think country singers are! It usually isn't proper english to use double negatives in the same sentence...is not NO...

Anyway as a parent of a teenage daughter, I shake my head at the prospect of buying another CD. For Christmas she wanted that Billy kid and next I'm sure it's going to be MD...I am disgusted at the name. These are singers and CDs that will never grace the boxes in the closet. I personally have record albums that are pushing 30 years old...these kids won't last 30 days, until someone new comes along...Everyone has to be a copy cat these days...you kids are all LEMMINGS...look it up and try a little individuality for once...

Let me tell you a secret....Americans don't know what Americans are doing. Take today, for instance. My Schwann's guy told me that last Thursday someone with a whole lot of American IOU's went to the money markets and almost bankrupted this country until the Fed stepped in with 50 billion dollars. I was amazed; I immediately googled the story and found it - down to the 50 billion dollars. Then I had to go shopping. Three hours later I got back on to Google and couldn't find the story, much less any references to it. Who knows what's next - we here are in deep doo doo and most of the people are in lala land.

chickekn Interesting on the comments, most people understand that sometimes you have to work with the company or you find another job. I don't feel sorry for the ones that decided to change jobs, this is the United States and they have the option to make that choice. THEY WERE NOT FIRED!

The initial post indicates that they were forced out, they were not. The company was trying to work this out and I believe there was a note made regarding "unless undue hardship caused to the business". So the company is to be applauded, the gentlemen that left the company made their choice. Wake up and smell the coffee folks, another twist to make it sound like they are the big bad company.

On the question of why God "allows" terrible things to happen and Sam Harris' argument -- We live in a fallen world and God created us with free will. The fact that God is all powerful does not equate with God controlling every aspect of our lives. I do believe God intervenes, particularly in response to prayer, but God obviously does not stop all acts of evil in the world. What the adversary has intended for evil/harm, God can turn to good. I think it is important to distinguish this from the concept that God does horrible things to people so that good will come of it. This is what messes with people's faith. God does not create these hellish events. I like Gregory Boyd's discussions of this question that I think most people of faith never see adequately answered - he discusses it in 2 books, "God At War" and "Satan and the Problem of Evil". I am in the middle of the first book and am finding it addresses these questions in a systematic way that is accessible yet intellectually rigorous and spiritually satisfying. Sam Harris is right that most Christians don't adequately solve this apparent conundrum. That doesn't mean it can't be solved, just that few address it honestly and unflinchingly. I like Boyd for this reason and recommend his writing highly to anyone interested in these questions (if only to answer those like Sam Harris). On the question of this particular tragic event, I think it raises a number of disturbing questions including:
1) if Cho was on psychoactive drugs as several sources (including roommates have reported), were they SSRI's, known to cause violence and aggression (and labelled as such in other countries outside the USA). If so, he would join the long list of school shooters taking these medications. 2) was the police and campus response to the first shooting simply a matter of mistaken identity (eg they thought the boyfriend was the shooter) or was it possibly reflective of different attitudes towards violence when it is perceived as "domestic" in nature? (probably too early to tell) 3) where did Cho learn to handle automatic weapons so professionally, given he apparently had no military experience? 4) and of course, gun control and media violence questions and many more Let's also hope that this news event doesn't completely take away any media attention to the hearing on Attorney General Gonzalez that was postponed to the end of the week. Last thought - Let's not forget to pray for the survivors (in addition to victims and their families), who often deal with survivor guilt and self-blame after school shootings. And for Cho's family. I cannot imagine what they are going through.

I voted this AM about 9:30 on an electronic machine. There were two pcts. in the church. Mine wasn't as busy as the other pct. This was the first time I used the electronic machine and it was easy. When I was done there was paper on the side that had all my choices. It was very clear, easy to read. All in all it was a very good experience.

I just moved to Kane County from Cook County.

I talked to an intelligent woman yesterday. She said she really like Judy Tobinka in the beginning but then after all the TV ads she thought she was crooked. I think that's a shame. First of all I can't belive an intelligent person would just look at the ads, and not go further to find out about ther person. I wonder how many people went that route. I love politics. It is so interesting . Why can't people find out things on their own?

How can teacher's unions and other unions endorse someone that doesn't make the pension payments? You can bet your life that no one is shorting the politicians pensions. I think this election is a disgrace.

To Just Observing: Binge drinking is a problem in other countries--the difference is those kids don't have access to a car as readily as American kids. Most countries have a higher age restriction for obtaining a license.

To I love alcohol: Your kids are gonna drink argument doesn't hold water...Sure a parent can gather up the keys but unless they sit guard at the door they cannot guarantee someone isn't going to leave.

And let's not forget what can happen in the house. Studies show that sexual activity, date rape and unprotected sex increase when booze is involved. That can lead to unwanted pregnancies and STDs. You can bet if my daughter gets knocked up at some house party where the parents allowed booze I'll be suing them in court!

The bottom line is that kids are going to do what they are going to do. But as a parent it is my job to teach them right from wrong. If they go out and drink and drive or get pregnant I'll be there to support them. But I won't contribute to it. I don't ever want my child to look at me and ask "Why did you let me do this? You were supposed to be the parent."

I just returned from Ireland and when I asked how they managed to pass a smoking ban that covered the entire country, the answer was always the same, worker's rights! I agree! All Americans deserve the right to work in a safe environment.

i like the Pub, too. I'm 5 minutes from one, ten from another, 15-20 minutes from a 3rd...just in the right place I quess. I also love the awesome support one of the stores gives to the neighborhood elementary school!

I'm curious to know what bank you have been dealing with.

I deal with a local bank that does not charge fees for taking your own money out or for seeing their tellers.

I want to avoid any bank that behaves that way.
