SWPriest,
Your comments bring up quite a few good points. Rather than trying to address them here, watch for another post on large assemblies.

in Project Update on Jeff's Tool Shed
Brian - My top level assembly has 4 sub-assemblies and each of those is comprised of sub-assemblies that are comprised of sub-assemblies. For this project, it's what makes sense. It allows for control of equipment by floor or area. The bodies is a result of imported data and the fact that I'm working with a group of people who are inexperienced with 3D modelling.
Jason - I don't remember the dll file, not that it would matter. SolidWorks is still working on figuring out the "why" of it all.
Devon - Workgroup.

in SolidWorks World 2009 here I come! on GabiJack.com
Gabi,
I agree with the others, you deserved the invitation. I'm looking forward to meeting you, too.
One thing about the CSWP event though...the press dinner is scheduled for the same night, so you might have to sneak out with the rest of us.

in Stumbling onto “new” things on Jeff's Tool Shed
Stephen,
One of two things are happening here. Either you're joking, or you don't read my blog often. If it's the latter, you should know that I was never seriously considering strangling anyone. Many of my comments, outside of the actual info, are facetious. Your comment does raise a question, though. If it had been his fault, would it have been ok to strangle him?

Brian,
I do use the hole wizard when applicable. Using unfold/fold depends on where and when the holes are applied in process. Best example is if a hole needs to straddle a bend.

in SharePoint on Ricky Jordan's Blog
Ricky,
I used SharePoint at my last company and found it to be a great tool, assuming everyone, who was supposed to, used it. It's easy to set up and manage, and a great way to store documents that need to be revision managed or just controlled.
I'm sure you'll have no problems figuring it out.

No, Anne, I'm not on their payroll. However, I do believe they have a great product and if they were to ever come calling, who knows? :-)

in SolidWorks Help Files & Tutorials on Jeff's Tool Shed
I would suggest reading the help files. I don't, presently have any examples of how to do it.
In the feature manager tree, under lights and cameras, you can add new cameras. I'll try to post a video soon on how to set up cameras.

I'm not sure I understand your question. Do you mean the cameras or how do you design cams?
If you're referring to cameras, that can be a post unto itself. Actually, either one could be. Hmmm, perhaps a new topic...

I wish I could give you a good answer, but I don't know. I never tried CircuitWorks.

A no-no? That would explain why my sons hide from view when I'm doing that in the car...as well as telling me I'm 'weird'.

No worries, Matt. Your post about scanning feet was great. I can just picture you trying to assure those women that you had no evil intent, blushing the whole time.

in SolidWorks 2008!! on Jeff's Tool Shed
Josh,
Having only seen what dissecting can do, and not actually having used it, my inclination would be to think that one could have fewer library features. The biggest gain, IMO, is that more complex sketches/features can be easily re-used without having to actually recreate them. I really wish I'd had the time to beta test. Actually, I wish I'd been able to get my connection to work quick enough to download the beta version. I'm sure I could have made the time...

Kholish,
I apologize for my delayed response. It is not possible to save to a different folder with DriveWorksXpress. However, you can do it with DriveWorksEngineer.

in Acrobat 3D - Free sneak Preview on Jeff's Tool Shed
Hey Gary,
No problem. I don't know what the sneak preview entails, but Adobe has done some great stuff for those of us that use 3D CAD programs. I just need to immerse myself in the copy I have.
Have fun!

in SolidMap - My Thoughts on Jeff's Tool Shed
Hi Steve!
I'm glad you enjoyed the review and congrats on winning a free license. SolidMap isn't a worthless product, but I think it still needs to mature somewhat. FYI - you might want to download their latest offering. I believe they've added the 'compact' mode.
