You're an INTJ? Me too. That's one of the rarest personality types; less than 1% of the population has it. I had a draft of a blog post about this for a while, and now I'm inspired to finish it up and post about it for tomorrow's blog post.

I haven't had a really good conversation in a while, either. I come from such a different place than a lot of people, though, because of my (non) religious, humanistic views, and then my libertarian (lower case "L") views of "live and let live". It's hard for me to get too deep into conversations with people without them becoming, at best, religious disagreements.

There's a balance between "having fun" and "becoming a prick", and I THINK I've managed to avoid becoming a prick. At the very least, social media isn't part of my personal identity, but making friends is a huge part of who I am. So I try to keep the social media interactions to people I am friends with or would like to be friends with, and I avoid trying to grow any of my networks unorganically. (My two major projects are my blog that I've had for almost 5 years and the Rob+Amber podcast that keeps up with people we already know and love).

I also keep personal things private, and wish others would do the same. Everyone knows my deep hatred of this: "Ho-hum. I'm going to send this sad little tweet so a bunch of people say 'awww, what's wrong buddy?' to me."

It is entirely proper to put your maiden name in parentheses when you are not using it but still would like to acknowledge it. Jane (Smith) Brown. Alternatively, you could use the term "nee" to indicate that you once were and are no longer using that name. Jane (nee Smith) Brown.

Having it hypenated indicates that you hypenated your last name upon marriage. Jane Smith-Brown.

Having it without indicates that you are using both, with your maiden either as a middle or second last name. Jane Smith Brown. Wasn't that what you were doing? In that case, no wonder you didn't feel like yourself!

I skipped all this business altogether, although I do love Mr. Rob Blatt... and his beard.

that's me in the photo, all the way to the right, squished up next to my husband.

There were moments in the weekend when we would all just kind of stop and look at each other and say, "I love you guys!" and hug each other. It was very Woodstock-ish! The weekend was amazing.

It's called Angry Camp, btw, because in Montreal I felt sort of left out; I'd never been to podcamp before, and all of these people were so into the internet and stuff but I really wasn't. I like to throw parties, though, so while everyone was in sessions, I rearranged my hotel suite (room 1405, which will live in infamy) and made some snacks. I kind of thought everyone would think it was lame that this new girl was throwing a party when all anyone wanted to do was hang out with their laptops, but everyone came, and we ended up having an AMAZING time. I can't tell you everything that happened there (what happens at Angry Camp...) but after that we were about as bonded as it gets. During the party Tracy said we should just get together for a Camp, so we could have fun, but no conference. I think we thought of a name like "Drinking Camp" or something, and then we said we would need sponsorships. "It needs to have more drama, then" Tracy said. "We should call it Angry Camp! Then people will sponsor it! We can have it in my basement!"

Something happened, though; we decided we couldn't wait until January, which is why we hosted one in New York. :)

I tried just about all of them. The green and black "DOS" one is hard to read, but fun to look at.

A lot of them are gorgeous, but you can't tell at a glance what email is read or unread because unread is a very pale color and read is white. It's frustrating.

Having lots of followers, or few, is a personal choice, and having thousands of people you follow is quite easy if you don't feel the need to read every single tweet.

I use Tweetdeck to keep track of my followers.

I also don't see the big deal in announcing your 500th follower, or you 500th tweet. It's a milestone, a fun little blip to shout out. I have a problem with people who shout out everything they do business-wise and never interact, but what you're talking about doesn't bother me (even though I don't do it).

I also don't have followers/followees that do that. So it might be a different crowd thing. Most of my twitter friends are mid-20's and up.

My dogs would enjoy being walked at the faster pace a skateboarding walker would give them. When I walk them as a group (I own three), they always try to go juuuust a little to fast for me. If I could skateboard, I would totally skateboard-walk them.

Our weekend was amazing. It was (half)-jokingly described as the "Woodstock of the Internet".

It wasn't about networking or marketing, it was about fortifying friendships between people who like to keep in contact via social media. We had amazing conversations that had nothing to do with the internet, there were no "sessions", and we all got to know one another as people. The first one was at my apartment in New York City, Tracy held the next one in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and the next one will be a gathering of people at SXSW.

We all pitched in, buying groceries, cleaning, baking, cooking, organizing field trips, etc. It was awesome. You should come!

It's creepy that it's written in a way that makes it sound like the little toddlers are picking their clothes - we all know they have no idea what they're wearing - but otherwise it's no better or worse than other "look how cute my kid is" websites. The difference is this one has a hipster vibe. It's vintage hats, not "Daddy's Little Princess" pink tee shirts. But it's all the same "my kid is so great" sentiment that gags everyone who doesn't have kids.
