The bottom “star” is just a bit smaller than the top, but both shine bright in the twilight. As it turns out, these two objects are actually the sky’s two brightest planets -- Venus and Jupiter (there’s also a fainter nearby star called Spica in the constellation Virgo). While this “conjunction” of these two planets occurs about once a year, there won’t be a Venus-Jupiter conjunction until the year 2008. Venus is the second planet outward from the sun. It's the brighter of these two brilliant worlds. Jupiter is the fifth planet out. It’s about five and 1/2 times farther away from Earth than Venus is right now. Jupiter is farther away, but it shines nearly as brightly as Venus because it’s so huge -- more than 11 times greater in diameter than either Venus or the Earth. Get outside and look up -- it's pretty cool.

Re: Why (Do) I Teach

wow, who knew chuck norris had infiltrated our young

Re: Why (Do) I Teach

PS, if you are responsible for teaching this kid english/grammar/spelling/writing -- i'm going to come over to your house and drop kick you. geez, tell this kid that computers spell check for you . . .

Re: New Design

I dig the new look

Re: Magnets Open All the Same II

I'm thinking hub city project should look at these

Re: Where I’ve Been

can't believe you haven't been to Idaho. geez, i thought you were someone that had seen teh world

Re: Causality

Wow, awesome! may the gods give you great strength in your noble journey

(i'm listening to the Odyssey on audio books . . . )

Re: Road Tripping

Have a great time.
