I didn't even know dude cut a record all his own. I knew of Jermaine and a couple of his hits, but not Marlon. Thanks, again, for putting me on.

Your opening paragraph got me before I could even finish. My word... such a powerful message.

Great post.

Nothing beats "The Thrill is Gone" for me. That was that ish from back in the day that you knew as a kid and would try to sing it with all your heart. Like you knew what the thrill was and you really missed it. LOL

Music has such a healing power to it. I just had a three hour listening party all with some good company. The little things in life..

That's right. They sure did make that song first. I completely forgot. Luther did it so well...

As they say... It's not who does it first but who does it best.

Season 3 was the last season that I watched. I haven't turned that program on since. The best part of the season are the first couple of episodes, with the bad auditions.

Some times all you have is your word. If you make a verbal agreement stick to it. This person should put themselves in the other's shoes. If one of them won would they want a piece of the pie? Of course they would.

That's not good news... That's great news. The school deserves it and Oprah was doing how she always does, giving back. The real reward is the great education that these children will walk away with.

in Why I Blog - The 2009 Edition on Conversations With Marva
Your experience of life and the way you convey it touches people, touches me. And that is why I come back. Along with the Old School Fridays...

Your way of thinking is on point and in turn your blog reflects that. Continue to do the greatness that you do.

Yeah, put 2008 in the past and leave it where it was is... Yesterday's news.

Wishing you well in 2009. May it be greater than you can possibly imagine.

Stay strong and focused. Indeed, we get those thoughts that tell us that we should sit down but you have to stand up and keep it moving.

She sure is an Icon. I'm happy to have seen her up close and personal. She had a great energy about her.

That is good stuff right there. I was wondering what your post would be on today. I'll be staying far from that place they call DC. It is going to be a mad house. I prefer watching it on television, without the crowd. I may even take the day off.

Ask he/she what they want to be labeled. I'm saddened by the fact that it's news. I'm sure they want to get on with their lives and do their thing. But they put their business out in the street so I cannot say anything else to that.

Shaq is a big kid. He is acting like a big cry baby. Hopefully he'll find something else to occupy his time and mind and drop what ever bitterness is consuming him.

What is loyalty? Sometimes we forget that basketball is his job. Like most of us, if we aren't being fulfilled at our current place of employment we start to look elsewhere for more money and more reward.

It has been 11 days? It doesn't even seem that long ago yet Thanksgiving approaches. I think a lot of us are still getting used to the concept yet ready for the change that is in full swing.

Great idea to put Jill in the mix. It was much needed for me today.

Who cares if Grandma moves into the White House? If the girls were neglected then they would have an issue with that. If they hired a nanny they would have an issue with that. They can suck on an egg whomever is making waves about family raising family. Better than a stranger, that's what I say.

Happy Belated Birthday. I hope it was a great one.

Some people don't take life as hard as others. Perhaps that smile is nothing more than a mask. But who is to say what is in that woman's heart. I hear where you are coming from.

Your last few lines hit home because I was tackling those very thoughts last night and this morning (regarding love of self and others).

I think that song is perfectly fitting for what history has been made this week. You picked a winner. We all did, actually.

in I Wish I Knew How… on Conversations With Marva
Who knows what lurks in the hearts of men and what consumes their minds? Actually, this is pretty clear considering they have the plot drawn out. This is fear or what some would consider a nightmare without sleeping. They are running scared over the power that Obama may have in his hands come election day. They can't believe he has gotten this far.

Sometimes I think that they shouldn't be mad at them but their own people. I sit in the office and see all the pale face folk talk about Obama and how great he is, I watch the old white woman walk around with his button on... And then I think to myself: Shouldn't these same white people who want to kill him go after their own for wanting to put him into office? Who do you think is donating all that money?

But I have not hate in my heart I'm just expressing a thought. Don't mind me.

Target was sold out of his CD when I tried to pick it up. But I'll be sure to cop it.
