"Just shake people’s hands. It’s not a huge deal, but it’s a class thing that most people would expect out of a Division 1 head coach. His assistants do it. His players do it. He should do it too."

I'm pretty sure I saw someone write that the assistants similarly did not shake the IU players' hands, but I did not see for myself whether that was true or not. Can anyone confirm or deny?

in IU issues release with further details on sanctions on Inside the Hall
"I read another coach saying to follow all of the rules it would take a personal assistant"

Uh, isn't that what the compliance office is for?

I'm actually in the camp of thinking this is being a bit overblown, but making calls from home and not logging calls? If we were talking about some obscure, vague, difficult-to-comply-with rule then I might think differently, but as a recruiter in college basketball these particular rules don't fall in that category.

I am bothered by the thought that Sampson would lie about the 3-way calls . . . why would he do that? He would have to know that the details of the report would come out . . . it's like telling your parents you got an "A" in Algebra when you not only know you got a "F", but that parent-teacher conferences are next week and you know the Algebra teacher is going to *mention* that you're failing his class!

I hope some member of the media is willing to stand up and risk access to the program by asking hard questions . . . and continuing to ask them until they get answered.

Would you ask DeAndre Thomas what adjustments he may have to make on his game if he's going to be playing, what, 60+ pounds lighter than last season?

in Upcoming.org, my new calendar on Scobleizer
Is it just me or is anyone else getting tired of entering a ton of information from scratch?? I feel like I'm re-entering my life in all different aspects all the time these days--events, music, movies, friends, pictures, written content. When the "next big thing" in social networking after Facebook comes along, I'll be re-entering this same data, or similar data, all over again! I get all my crap put up into Google Calendar, but now I want to share that same information over Facebook, or Pownce, or wherever, and import/export tools are *way too few and far between*. Christ I know that makes me seem like an old fogey for complainin', but this is gettin' ridiculous. I'm a person, not a data entry robot! Must I be left behind from the social network revolution??

Does the facebook plug-in leverage your iLike.com music selections and preferences? I read something that said it's not here but it's coming, or something. I'm not interested in re-entering all that data.

in How do you keep your stuff private on WiFi networks? on Scobleizer
Can anyone recommend an easy-to-use SSH setup for Linux? I've got a Mandriva Linux running on a secondary box (I do very little or nothing with it most of the time) and wouldn't mind at all setting it up to run SSH. I did set my main windows box up to run SSH and I set up a tunnel that way, but I never got it working on Linux. I think one of my problems was figuring out how to configure users for Linux SSH, but a full-on, easy-to-use SSH server setup guide for Linux would be super-helpful (and one for Mandriva extra-helpful). So far I haven't been able to find one.
