in What advice would you give to yourself 10 years ago? on Carrie and Danielle
Stop listening to other people's opinions when you know they are wrong. It's okay to not know what you want to do with your life, take time out and you will find it. Treasure your relationships and not the ones that feel safe just because they are comfortable. Slow down and treasure every moment.

in Nine Shortcuts to Shave Minutes Off Your Morning Beauty Routine on Carrie and Danielle
Natural lip colours are usually the most flattering and they also don't require a lip pencil. Spend the time with a professional getting the best shade for you and you will save even more time in the morning.

Alison That's brilliant. It goes to show that conscious choice truly pays off. You may pay time and money for quality, short-term, but in the long-term, you look better, feel better, and likely end up spending less.

in What is your favorite cultural activity that doesn’t cost money? on Carrie and Danielle
I live in Brisbane, Australia and we have some great stuff you can do for free. Our art gallery is free for general entry and you only pay to visit special exhibitions like Picasso or Andy Warhol. Our Performing Arts Centre has free jazz and other concerts every Friday night over winter. The Powerhouse has free stand up comedy on Sunday evenings. Then there is all the one off events like the Brisbane Festival, River Festival and not to mention all the wonderful things for the whole month leading up to Christmas along the riverfront at Southbank. The local parks have free movies in the parks during school holidays as well especially aimed at families. There is really something for everyone!

I agree Toronto is fantastic. I lived there a couple of years ago and Nuit Blanche was a favourite of mine, I absolutely loved that experience.

in Learning from Teaching: It’s Not About Me on Carrie and Danielle
Alison I can relate. If I meet someone and they have the slightest self esteem or insecurity issue with themselves then we aren't going to gel. Something in me makes people like that feel even worse about themselves. It has taken me a long time to realise the problem wasn't with me, but with them. However if I meet someone who is happy within themselves, we will get on great guns!

in What legacy do you want to leave? on Carrie and Danielle
Inspired education. You can achieve anything if you have the motive, we just need to help people find what motivates them in the areas they want to achieve in. High self esteem for all young women, you are worth it and you are beautiful!

in In this very moment, what are you grateful for? (In no particular order of thanks…) on Carrie and Danielle
My health, something I took for granted in my 20's. My husband who has shown me what unconditional love really means. My inner strength and confidence, sometimes even I don't know where it comes from. Good friends, good food, a nice bottle of champagne or a stawberry daiquiri for when I choose to celebrate. The wealth that allows me to enjoy all of these things and freedom of choice. And in agreeance with Danielle, life - all of it! Good, bad or ugly, life is a game and I want it to be as fun as possible.

invisible.bees Jody, isn't it wild what we took for granted in our twenties, especially our health?!

in Tsh Oxenreider asks: In what way are you delightfully conventional? on Carrie and Danielle
I like having the car door opened for me and my chair being pulled out for me at a restaurant. I like having doors opened for me and I always say thank you to strangers that offer this. I like and appreciate good old fashioned chivalry!
Yes guys, some girls do still appreciate this behaviour and this is something I find very attractive in my husband.

Joannie I love all of these things, too.
Tsh from Simple Mom Totally agree! I love chivalry, and to this day, my husband still does things like hold the door open for me. Love it.

in What do you collect? on Carrie and Danielle
I don't tend to collect objects but I treasure and collect precious moments. A beautiful sunset, how fluffy the clouds are today, the relief of rain falling after a hot humid day. I can still smell the rain coming across the valley from my childhood years, the deliciousness of the crema gelati in Levanto, Italy that I have not been able to replicate since. So many things that I can see, taste or smell and make me very happy when I remember them all.

in What expert help or advice would you like? on Carrie and Danielle
I'd like a marketing expert to tell me how to successfully market my business using my own style. I am not normal nor average and marketing experts that use the same 3 things with every customer just don't appeal!

in What is your favourite form of courtesy that you like to practice? on Carrie and Danielle
I'm with you Jennifer.
I always smile at people whether strangers on the street, a fellow shopper and especially my friends and family. Nothing gets through to people quicker than a big smile and they are infectious. People often can't help smiling back!
I also love giving genuine compliments to people whether they are a stranger or not. I figure everyone likes getting compliments as much as I do so why not brighten their day too.

I expect less and appreciate more from those closest to me. I am also kinder to myself.

in What’s the best concert you ever attended? on Carrie and Danielle
Simon & Garfunkel at the Colosseum in Rome. The last weekend of our 6 weeks in Europe saw us land in Rome for the last of the free summer concerts put on by the mayor. Thousands of people were lined up in the streets surrounding the Colosseum with speakers and screens down each side of the street so no-one missed a thing. It had an amazing vibe and was a fantastic end to a fantastic holiday.

in How do you know when a decision is “right” for you? on Carrie and Danielle
I don't always know when something is right but boy do I know when something isn't right. I feel my intuition at its strongest when something isn't right and I am getting much better at trusting that. I often can't give you a logical explanation of why it's a wrong choice, which can lead to second guessing, but I do know it is not the right choice. It isn't goose bumps or anything physical, I just get a strong feeling to shake my head no and my brain says no! If someone pushes hard enough I am sure my head does start shaking from side to side in a no motion.

in What are you excited about right now? on Carrie and Danielle
I'm a bit like Danielle as I always am excited about something. I'm excited about my business as lots of opportunities open up every day. I'm excited about Spring arriving and all the lovely warm weather we are having now. It's almost beach weather and that's exciting. I'm excited about my upcoming weekend that includes a trip to the art gallery to see Picasso and a trip to Seaworld. I'm excited that we just bought tickets for Swan Lake even though it is still 2 months away. There is always something to be excited about if you look for it.

in What do you find sexy? on Carrie and Danielle
I agree with all who have said male chivalry. I think one of the main reasons I first fell for my now husband was that he was so shy but the moment a door needed opening or we were crossing the street he became confident and chivalrous. He still is to this day and I love it.
Dancing, I feel very sexy when I am dancing whether that be at home in pyjamas or out at a club. Give me the right music and I'm set.
A calf massage, can't explain it but it works.
Seeing desire on my husband's face, works every time.
Confident and carefree people are sexy.

in If you suddenly inherited $10,000, what would you do with it? on Carrie and Danielle
For me it does depend on who I inherited it from. If it was someone from my husband's side then I would let him buy a treat (max 20%) for himself to remember that person by. If it was someone from my side I would probably put the $2,000 towards a holiday somewhere I haven't been or somewhere that holds very dear memories.
In either case the rest would be invested.

in What promise did you keep that changed your life? on Carrie and Danielle
A few years ago one of my family thought they were protecting me by hurting my husband (emotionally). I realised then how precious my husband was and how my family really don't know me at all but simply have an idea of who they want me to be.
I promised myself and my husband at that time that I wouldn't let them hurt our relationship again.
Since then our relationship has improved dramatically and we got married. I now know how important he is to me, someone who loves me for who I am and will support me in my dreams. I feel so lucky every day that I met him.

in When do you hide? on Carrie and Danielle
I hide when I am feeling vulnerable. Sometimes I just know that the vulnerability I am feeling isn't justified but is a subconscios way of telling me I need some me time.

in What do you need to let go of? on Carrie and Danielle
I need to let go of the belief that family should get on and accept each other as they are. I need to let go of the critical thoughts that hit me each time I speak with someone in my family, they aren't present at any other time and that annoys me! Why does family have so much unwanted power and control?

in What’s your beauty dilemma? on Carrie and Danielle
Connie, I can relate to weight gain due to meds. I have put on 20lbs in the last 12 months (it came on pretty quick) with a new medication that is necessary. What a shock to a tall naturally thin girl when I was told just to watch what I eat. I have never had to do that before and it has been a rude shock.
However, I absolutely adore having boobs, a decent set anyway for the first time in my life.
Some good comes out of everything!

in What’s your favourite inspirational quote? on Carrie and Danielle
My favourite inspiration quote is not by someone famous, but a quote that has been passed down through our family from my great-grandmother. "All cats are grey in the dark" reminds me that we are all equals. I often jokingly use this quote but is also has a serious side.
