in Should Indiana be interested in Scott Skiles? on Inside the Hall
A realistic possibility, yes. In fact, it seems almost set in stone that he's going to step to the head of the class, just because of his ties to Indiana.
Does that make him someone I want to see coaching at Assembly Hall? No. He's an unproven recruiter and perhaps too much of a "my way or the highway" type of personality that would make recruits turned off to his ways.
One good thing he probably does have going for him is ties to Tom Izzo. I would rather see him serve a year or two as an assistant to Izzo (if he hasn't already...sorry, I'm posting this new thought without much research) and then go out and try the college ranks.

You need to work on not ruining your arguments at the very end by saying really, really dumb things.

Me? No. I liked Recker. I was disappointed when he left and sad when he got hurt. I think if he hadn't gone back to Iowa, things would have been a lot different with Recker.

I just find it interesting that all of a sudden Calipari is interested in this kid. I mean, Indiana has a basketball program. Rutgers? And Miami (FL)? That's all the offers he got, and now suddenly he's being courted by the team that spent a large chunk of the season at Number One?
Do we need to call the EPA to clean up the oil slick coming out of Memphis?

Oh well.
Does this mean we, as Indiana fans, can whine and bitch and moan and complain and demand that he sit out a year for "transferring" schools and call him names and insult his family and his friends and his girlfriend, like Illinois fans?

Didn't you already do this with Luke Recker?

Having a committee to bounce ideas off of is a good idea. That way the AD doesn't exercise complete and total power over the process. And I think we can all agree that the less Greenspan's hands are involved in this mess, the better.
I do agree with you, though, that I don't care about the coach. I'd take Matt Painter in a freaking heartbeat, and last I checked, he's a Purdue guy. But, you're also right in the notion that you have to spend some money. You're not going to lure a top guy/good guy away from a decent program without putting down some cash in order to do it.

The only way that this makes sense is so that the IU Athletic Department doesn't have to go around changing all of the embroidered towels and other monogrammed niceties at the coach's house. Plus, all the players can keep their shoes!

Did Wofford beat them by 24? And make it look like a professional team versus a high school team?

isn't a win in november still a win?

Duke did beat Wisconsin pretty handily in the head-to-head matchup. Just for argument's sake.

Wofford beat Purdue's ass back in november too...does that make them a 5 seed?

I guess that gives me plenty of time to try and weasel some tickets out of saddened UMBC, gonzaga, and Play-in winner fans who won't come back to the RBC Center, right?

They tipped during the day in that game versus Cleveland State back in the day.

in Breaking down the Charlotte Regional on Inside the Hall
Carolina is undefeated this season in road AND neutral court games. And they've got a 33-or-something-else-obscene in-a-row winning streak in the post season in games played in North Carolina.
For instance, they pretty much ran roughshod over NC State at the RBC Center.
So, even if Indiana can beat Arkansas, they don't stand a chance against the Tarheels.
Anyone going to the games? I'm heavily thinking about it (if i can find a ticket).

Villanova won't let Wright go. He's very happy there, and they're very happy with him. He basically can be at Nova until he retires.

There was another traditional team that once took a chance on an up and comer from Army who built the program into a national powerhouse and won three championshps with that coach from Army.
Take your pick: Indiana or Duke. That's a pretty good track record with "young up and coming talent" that you've so decidedly and ignorantly panned.

Why are you so enamored with underperforming and lousy ACC couches? Crap, let's get Seth Greenberg. He just won ACC coach of the year TWICE!

Nope, they are simply recruits. They are allowed to text, call, and talk to one another as many times as they want a day. There are no rules about recruits talking to other recruited (and signed) players.

If he's in love with the history and tradition of the game and a place like Indiana, he's already a fan favorite in my household.
That, and he has a pretty damned fine first name, too.

in White and Gordon headline All-Big Ten teams on Inside the Hall
I would definitely agree that it does appear that he's working on some of the things that he had been criticized for earlier in the year (it does seem that all of a sudden he's a lot more aggressive toward getting offensive rebounds).
I think the frustrating thing is that he's doing it alone. Neither Sampson nor Dakich seem to be working with him to improve his game, they've just taken any semblance of a leash and letting him "do his thing", which is really frustrating as a fan when you want to see your favorite players getting better.

But, Willis, he's "seen a lot of basketball", so he can anticipate when there's about to be a turnover AND he knows a foul when he sees one. Just ask the commentators yesterday.

I just have this bad feeling that there are only two games left.
I still have a hard time swallowing how any team with a three point lead and time running out fouls someone on a lay-up. Let them score and then let them start the hacking on you. Play some more smothering defense, don't let them get off perimeter shots, and keep hitting your free throws. High school teams can do that. I don't get it. I just don't get it.

in Hoosiers fall to Penn State in Happy Valley on Inside the Hall
Bud Selig can do that plenty well enough on his own.
I watched the game and was disgusted. Why you even think of being near someone when they're going for a lay up and you have a three point lead is beyond me. I thought these players had been coached in basketball.
