So now a network is a black box?? Shouldn't be much different than importing from a local drive. All it has to do is create a pointer to the file on the network and nothing else.

I disagree. I have a fast computer and fast network and iTunes takes ages to add something that is over the network. For something that just needs to update an internal database to point to the file on the network it should take less than a second. What iTunes is doing is beyond me. I think it must read the entire file for some reason.

One can also not disable this stupid searching for album artwork. It will do this on any file even if its not a song. To not be able to turn that feature off is ridiculous.
