in GilroyDispatch.com | Police, fire near deals with city on Gilroy Dispatch
The city is already paying more in overtime as of February hen they laid off a dispatcher. That person was "bumped" by someone who did the job 18 years ago and has to be "trained" for over six months and sent to a 3 week POST academy (mandated by state law). Since the 911 center was already short due to a frozen position and there was overtime every month, the loss of a seasoned employee with a trainee created even more overtime. Ask them if this senior employee is done with training or are they still incurring overtime to train them. Now factor in more OT to cover "furlough" days so that some people get a "unpaid" day off while others come in for time and a half ... there's government thinking at its best.
Mr Bone and the dispatch ... do a little inquiry and see how much the city paid in overtime every month for their 911 center prior to 2009 and how much since the layoffs ... you might be surprised.
Considering how much the city pays for 911 employees (including benefits) ... how much did the city pay this employee they laid off for however many years they worked for Gilroy only for them to take that experience and use it at another agency? Nice money spent making sure other agencies have fully trained and qualified personnel.
Gilroy is the prime example of "good ole boys" and backdoor handshakes, selective ethics and "everything we have come to expect from years of government training".

I agree it is becoming ugly but I would caution against throwing in the towel. People like NT Insider and Vested Interested are part of a dedicated group of agitators whose sole objective is to post meaningless nonsense and downright lies so that the truth is suppressed.
It is no surprise that these trolls have come woodwork at this current time when the news about Nortel is becoming more obvious. And to those that support them: Wake up! They are only catering to your own delusional desires, that is, to prop up your worthless NT stock! Best to move on and get back to reality.

there are those who want to destroy AAN!
They will use all available methods to discredit AAN.
To provoke and attract the AAN from another ID as the blog of Dead to NT stock cult.
I think, Mark E is doing just fine and all the accusations about being negative on NT stock makes him just glow in the dark. My opinion only.
We, the critics of NT stock (stock) we say show us some positive numbers to talk about!
We are open for discussion or an argument!
Don't blame the messengers!
Show us good wins! Show us profits!
We see new orders declining $500 mill a quarter!
Public and the blogs like that one is the last to get real info about Nortel or NT.
i would never trust Mark Evans to put my money on NT stock one way or the other.
Only idiots can claim that Mark E is biased_negative on Nt and is the reason for NT stock to go down from $1200 to current $0.55
Talk about that, Sir!
haha
It's not because someone posted a critical post on AAN!
Customers who buy for $1 bill will never check AAN! Never!
They pay the research firms to buy reports about NT. That's the real life!
What the paid research reports say about NT?
They say what Mark Sue said. NT has no cash to survive!
Call Mark Sue for explanations.
He is available!
He has to answer your calls!

if you two are just talking then talk. dont start writing some crap and extending the discussion to somebody else who has nothing to do with this blog. if you are just talking then your own posts seem so emotional.

possible but over half of MEN will be laid off. Cisco and Nortel culture are radically different. most management would be replaced by Cisco management so in a way it will be good. whoever stays will max have a job for a year or two.

Can't see Cisco getting involved unless they hack up MEN to their liking.
There is apparently alot in MEN that would be redundant or product
Cisco would not want (metro next, atm etc).
I do suppose the money they give Nortel would be enough to create more packages so Nortel could layoff more people, including MEN employees? More than likely however just another Rumour.
I am so anxious to see how NT survive once they get rid of MEN, CDMA and LTE and fulfill their ambition of just being an enterprise company.
I wonder how long it will take to totally disintegrate once they are left with just their enterprise division?
My guess is not long.

otherwise Joel wouldn't be working there under employee vote let alone promoted
the wrong specialists at the top, yoo many pay happy chiefs with too many disgruntled Indians makes for disaster
...as the CEO primal screams the employees he wants to fire to work harder
... add contradiction with lack of credibility, and presto... you have Nortel
challenged to make sales for years it survives selling assets and paper than product, and now that is tough to sell too...headed to zero like a clown tripping over its feet directionless... maybe the employees should have more of a say of who directs them =)

They've got to be pretty worn out, and down, by now. Their collective career outlook has been changing constantly for years - layoffs, yes, this week, or next week, tmw, no, that is, the headcount is to be de-risked by 10%/10 people, whichever comes first - next last quarter, or Thursday. Unless.
That depends on the budget, which is readjusted by 20% 20 times by next week, if not tmw, looking forward. Expand into reduction to consolidate the streamlining of negative growth upward.
Tell the world that 30% less fluorescent bulbs overhead at Nortel means 30% less overhead on Nortel products bought last year by week 30 next quarter so that thoe 30% offset the 20% of 10.
No?
Just check back in tmw; things may have changed by then.

Z is not even worth paying 1 nortel share at 51 cents. he creamed the business in 3 years, something no Nortel CEO has done in over a 100 years.

you and all who you can find should offer publicly to put your entire salary on the line and work for $1. only then will management Director and above get the hint and take a pay cut. until they are humiliated, they will only fill their pockets, thick headed and thick skinned as they are.

Police Crime Analyst earned $89,544 in 2007 and $92,232 in 2008 (no OT pay)
PS Communicator earned from $81,338 to $99,389 base in 2007 (Total OT was $57,262)
