Talking to my sister, Mary, who lives far away. Sitting still when my baby, Imogen, falls asleep in my arms. Cuddling in bed at the end of a long day, for a moment all the stress, worry and fear goes away. Walking for hours on a Saturday with a huge coffee, Dan and Imogen, and knowing I get to do it all over again on Sunday.

I complain about so many things, it's hard to just choose one. I'm not sure when I became a constant complainer, I hate hearing myself do it. I can't believe it's me, but it is. If I must choose one, then it will be the one I use every time I see a friend, go into a shop or grab lunch. My body. After two pregnancies, my body has become unrecognizable to me. I suppose if I'm honest, I want to be perfect, I want the ass I had at 18, but unless I radically change my life I don't see it happening. My wish is more time and support so I can take care of myself as well as everyone else in my life. But that's just another complaint.

I have found walking to be my salvation. It doesn't matter how stressed, how tired, or where I am in the world I can walk for hours. I fell in love with city walking when I lived in London, never a dull moment. The same is true of Vancouver, how could you ever tire of looking at the ocean.

We have a daughter together, and I know she'll grow up being treated with dignity and respect.

Smiling has always been my secret weapon. My Grandmother told me two things were essential to being ageless. Moisturising and smiling. It's true. The other day, I saw this rather ordinary woman slouching and looking bored. Then something amazing happened. She became engaged in conversation, sat up straight and smiled. Turned out, this rather plain looking woman was beautiful and much younger than I initially thought.

"Never Explain, Apologize or Justify," is something I heard which resonates every time I'm asked to do something I don't want to. I try to live by this, but from time to time find myself justifying a decision. This a work in progress.

I wanted to be an actress in musicals, 50s-60s style, sadly they went out. I attended performing arts schools in the US and soon realized I liked behind the scenes better, but every year when the Oscars come on, I feel a twinge of regret for not being in the audience. Who knows maybe my daughter will play Molly Brown in the remake of The Unsinkable Molly Brown.

I've always admired Catherine Hepburn, she was ahead of her time, and led a movement in fashion. She insisted upon wearing pant suites in film, and even wore them to the Academy Awards.

I saw my husband fly into rocks at break neck speed, bounce across them, and go down in water-I thought he was dead. I was terrified but had to pull myself together. This happened two weeks after suffering a brutal tragedy. For the longest time, I couldn't leave the house, I lost faith in the world, I thought the ground would fall from under me. It took several months for the fear to leave, but now I'm not afraid of anything other than something hurting my family. I know the difference between real and created fear. Fear can make you crazy if you let it.

I'm happiest when I slow down and participate in the moment, rather than react from auto pilot. Lately when I'm doing a million things all while carrying my baby around, she'll turn to me, lock eyes and smile. It's during these moments that I realise how far away I've been from her and any sort of happiness. Happiness is a work in progress for me. My life is completely out of balance, I've come to accept that I wont have peace and therefor complete happiness until I change how I work.

I think my voice to other people is full of humour and encouragement--my husband says it's comforting. Where this breaks down is in the voice I use for myself, it can be pretty negative at times, and it chills me to the bone when I hear it. Again, work in process.

I hide with when cash flow issues appear in my business, I become paralyzed and cant do anything, so I just turn off the computer and go for a walk. Then when I've talked myself down, I turn the computer back on, and start collecting.

I never have. When in doubt treat someone as you would like to be treated. If you're in a bad relationship, then get out. If you love someone and they don't love you, then you must accept this...The books I have read make either the man or the woman (usually the man) seem like an idiot that you can mold...and no relationship will ever work when you start from this place.
