My advice, don't move back to IL, as they allow the permits at 15! (We're "Driving with Miss Jordan":) In Iowa the age is 14 but I know you won't move there...LOL.

On a personal note, I've had trouble getting some e-mails to you, are you sporting a new e-mail address with your new blog?

Hi to the Roche's, stay buckled up!

Re: Last Second Victory

Congrats to Steve and the team!!! Is there anything better than High School Sports?? (Middle School too for that matter). You would swear these kids are convinced each game is the most important game of their life, they rejoice when they win, they ache when they lose. So refreshing from some of the pros who just want to cash their check no matter the outcome.

Re: Mattman Is On a Roll

I'm sure you'd agree he's acts exactly like his uncle(s) Bob! Seriously, sounds like the boys are both thriving, you have the right to be proud!

Re: Sir Edmund Hillary Dies

I read about this on the front page of the Chicago Tribune this morning and thought about you and your quest for Everest (at least the base camp). I always found it inspiring that an acrophobic had such "high" aspirations. On a sad note, I said to my kids, "Sir Edmund Hillary died", they all stared at me blankly..atleast I got a teaching moment in first thing today!

Re: Happy Birthday, Steve

Happy Birthday Stephen! At any rate, birthday wishes still go out. Tell him that the "15's" DO count...I'll be 15x3 this year!

Re: Dancing Around the Maypole

Frank - I remember a few may pole celebrations from my youth, mostly during girl scout meetings where they used every holiday as an excuse for a craft or a dance. My most precious memories of May 1st though have to be the May baskets my mother would help us create to put on the doorsteps of friends, ring the bell and run, only to hope the friend (if it was a boy) would open the door and chase us, catch us and kiss us. My mom rocked on this day..no styrofoam cups with pipe cleaners filled with popcorn and circus peanuts.. we MADE real cool baskets or a variation of a basket and put the "good" stuff in them. Quite an act of love from a woman who had seven kids and carried the tradition down through the baby of the family...me.

Happy May Day!

Re: Chicken and Biscuits Take Me to My Happy Place

Wow, I've had the pleasure of eating (and preparing) both of these delicacies. I could literally taste them going down my throat as your described them, ala Violet Beuregard's gum! Add a little slosh or cauliflower salad and it would be the perfect meal!! Hope Sheryl is planning to put it on the menu in December..yummy!!

Re: Matthew is 17

Happy Birthday Matthew! I do see Micheal Phelps but I'm struggling with the Statue to Liberty. Actually, on the second one I see a big Indian head, feather on top, eyes, nose and chin! Too bad you ate them. I bet you could pay for the boy's college if you sold them on ebay!

Looking forward to seeing the Roche clan next month!

Re: Treadmill Hint #13: Walk Straight

Ouch! The photo of your shin made me shudder! However, the new photo of you and the boys made me smile...what a handsome trio! We're moving the "taller" of our to boys in to the dorm at University of Iowa today..mama bear may have swollen eyes this afternoon!

Re: Three Things I Never Taught My Sons

Frank - It's never too late to teach your kids things. Three things Matt will need to know by this time next year (and I speak from experience)...1) How to do his own laundry..correctly. 2) How to check the air, put in air and change a tire...correctly. 3) How to assemble a piece of furniture that comes in a box, especially one that says "no tools required"....correctly. Life lessons for the college freshman!

Re: Do You Want an Honest Answer?

The only person right now that I really wantan honest answer from is Blagojevich!
