I had a similar situation with my own daughter. To cut a long story short, she denied me access to her children whom I adore. This went on for 18 months. During that time she became pregnant with and delivered twins. I was not allowed to see them either! All of this stress brought on severe panic attacks. In desperation I sought medical advice and also joined a local support group, which fortunately for me was for grandparents who are denied access to their grandchildren!! My point is, Can you find simliar support for yourself in your situation? Or make an appointment to see a counsellor? You need this. It helps to talk about these problems with understanding professional people and people who are experiencing similar problems. Don't try and cope with this stress alone. I know that you do not want a confrontation with your daughter in law because you do not want to risk being denied seeing your grandchildren. I can fully understand this but you need to get some help, relief and guidance for your self.
I now see my daughter and all of the grandchildren but I can't forgive my daughter in my heart. I doubt I ever will. She does not know I feel this way toward her as I hide it. I no longer trust her but as long as I keep my mouth shut, I know I can see my grandchildren any time and they are so precious to me. If you want to talk or have more questions, please email me. I would love to help.
References :

Re: http://www.misscouturable.com/2008/03/sunday-six-march-2nd-2008.html

is it just me or do the best-dressed girls in Seventeen never seem to fit the bill or fill the shoes? When you have thousands of stores and millions of customers you do a lot of business. On such a large scale even the smallest change can make a big difference.

But, when you are a mega-giant, why go for a small change when you can go big? Why not ask suppliers to reduce packaging (do those cookies really need to be individually wrapped, put in a plastic tray and then wrapped again?). This is just one example of the type of thing that WalMart has to strong arm to make companies (which otherwise might not have reformed) change their ways to a greener design.

Another idea, while I'm at it, is to have them charge for plastic bags while selling canvas or other alternatives at the register (like ikea). They can push it as their effort to reduce the plague of plastic. I know that's unlikely since they're supposed to be the bargain superstore, but it's a dream...

Re: Demolition by Stupidity

I was so excited when I saw the Post button changed to Post an intelligent and civil comment- thanks for that guys!

Re: Samsung Says: Water-Powered Hydrogen Micro Fuel Cell on the Way, We Promise

Does this mean that the phone won't go on the fritz if I drop it in the toilet? tee hee!

Re: Obama Steps It Up On Climate Change

First let me preface by saying that I'm an Obama supporter, a Christian and an environmentalist.

In my personal experience, having worked in a Christian non-profit organization for over three years, a large part of the people who have their heads in the sand when it comes to climate change and all the other environmental problems are Christians. (we live in South Korea and everything seems to come out earlier here) It really is as fast and simple to fold as it says and is a good ride. It's 3K from our home to work and he it is totally comfortable for him. We bought it for daily riding but also so he can take it on the subway or high speed train.

When folded you can roll it right along with you (instead of having to carry it like most folding bikes) and is much easier to manage than every other bike that we tried.

The bike is suitable for people 5 ft 4 in to 6 ft 4 in. James is 6 ft and he's not sure if it really is ok for someone taller, but suits him just fine. The creator of the strida is 6 ft 4 in, so I guess that he probably wanted a folding bike that would fit tall people. Of course, that means that shorties are out of luck including me- I'm 4 ft 10 and there is NO WAY I can ride it safely. Believe me, I tried...

It cost about $520 US when we bought it in Korea if anyone wants a ballpark on the cost.

So, we have had a great experience with the Strida 5 and totally recommend it.

Re: It Slices, It Dices: Desk/Bookshelf Combo. I'm a sandals wearer and people also thought that I was strange for not wearing socks...

One reason for taking off shoes in Asia is that people still sit on the floor at a low table to eat and some also use bed rolls and sleep on the floor. Why would you track in the dirt from outside and put it where you eat and sleep?

I was leaving my home with a Korean friend when I remembered something in the house. I just ran in and got it (without taking off my shoes) and my friend looked horrified! I guess I still have some behavioural adjustments to make. But, I do think that when we get back to the US we'll keep the shoes off policy.

Re: Survey: Do You Preheat Your Oven?

I'm in Korea where ovens are quite uncommon, so at the moment I don't use one at all.

Back in Texas we had a wood burning oven for baking bread, pizzas, potatoes, etc. So that we did have to preheat ;)

Re: Preserves Become Ideology in a Jar

Oh thanks for this! The biggest problem here seems to be that motorbikes use the sidewalk and bike lanes, scaring me to bits when I'm riding home at night.

Re: Airlines Shaving Costs Everywhere They Can

Since I live in the other side of the world, I hope that buzz saw is wrong. When a huge dump truck almost killed me in our car we decided that it's better for the environment, cheaper, and SAFER to ride our bikes everywhere. But in Korea the story is different. The water itself is fine, but the pipes are corroded and so metals get into the water. We use a water filter pitcher (can't install anything) but if we had children I'd probably have a test done to compare bottled to the filtered water. Whatever came out better I'd use for my baby.

Just because you get bottled water doesn't mean it has to be the tiny 500 ml bottles though. A very common 'bottled water' source is the water delivery service with the refillable 50 Litre bottles.

Re: Teen Finds Way to Decompose Plastic Bags in Just 3 Months!

Per Scott: I don't see this as some trying to be lazy, this is someone trying to solve the issue of unmeasurable tons of waste, including plastic, filling our world.
