Looks like I missed the deadline, but I'd still like to suggest Eragon. If I hadn't been watching it with accompanying Rifftrax, I surely would have gone mad.

Applecare will be your friend.
Seriously, I always recommend buying Applecare for portables. They're subjected to many more rigors than a desktop and the components are expensive to replace. You'll get more than your money's worth if you have your 'book serviced just once. My current Powerbook has had its display replaced twice and its Superdrive replaced at no cost to me, thanks to AC. It's definitely worth it.
As for losing drafts, I started using Google Docs while writing. Auto-save and off-site storage ensures that nothing unseemly happens to my work. Plus I can login from whatever computer I happen to be near whenever I have some thoughts to jot down.
Technically, you can post straight to your blog from inside G.Docs, but it doesn't offer fine control over formatting.

Yeah, i do get the vast majority of my traffic from searches. It's just that the last thing I expect to see when doing an everyday search is something I've already written about.

Speaking of searches, have you ever done a regular Google search and had one of your own pages turn up as the first result?
That happens to me from time to time and it always kinda weirds me out.

in The Prisoner: I’m Hooked on Webomatica
I got into this show when I was unemployed in Los Angeles and needed to fill my time with something. The central library had all sorts of shows on VHS and The Prisoner was one of them that I quite enjoyed. I only got about 10 eps in though, so off to Netflix for me! Thanks for the reminded.
Also, the music is pretty good too. There are several releases available, including the remastered original recordings.

in Trying A Different Front Page Design on Webomatica
Yeah, the "Read More + word count" definitely helps. Makes the front page seem more like an index/launching point, making the recent stuff easier to scan. And that's good; before, if I didn't subscribe to your feed, I'd have missed half your posts.
Good stuff.

in Google eBook Thoughts on Webomatica
I wouldn't be surprised if Google's "ebook" model followed similar idea as Google Videos. In addition to all the public domain content that Google has been harvesting, the service would allow users/publishers to post their own content and set their own prices, with a lot of it being posted for free.
Download it, sync it a la iPod and away you go, assuming the device is compelling enough.
Built-in text-to-speech would be nice as well.

in Netflix Offering Free Streaming Movies on Webomatica
I just did the math again.
18 hours is 25 complete ~42 minute programs, which translate to a complete season for any standard drama or two seasons of a sitcom per month.
The main limiting factor would be the size of Netflix's library, which I hope will be vast and plentiful.

in Netflix Offering Free Streaming Movies on Webomatica
This, I think would be absolutely fantastic for checking out TV shows, much more so than movies. Streaming an on-demand episode of a recommended series would be a great way to find out if you like it.
My plan would give me 18hours worth of viewing per month, which is more than an entire season of a sitcom.
I can also imagine myself revisiting old shows that I enjoyed, but not enough to invest in the DVDs, so long as the shows are in Netflix's library.
They just need to hurry up and get that Mac version going.

in Now The Apple iPhone Sucks? Please on Webomatica
Nah, The iPhone doesn't suck. But I think using the name "iPhone" is overly narrow and restrictive from a marketing POV.
The mobile computing applications are the real paradigm shifts here. Being able to surf and email on a handheld with Apple's legendary elegance is breakthrough. It doesn't make sense for the company to brand it as a phone when that capability is the second fiddle. I remember reading somewhere that the iPod was called "iPod" because Steve didn't want the device to be boxed in as strictly a music player.
Though with the Cisco suit, there's now an excuse to change the iPhone's name before June...

Related to #8, track down and install WP-Cron. Then you can schedule routine backups of your sql db without having to remember to do it. I set up a gmail account for the express purpose of receiving daily backups from the handful of wordpress sites I manage. With 2.7 GB of storage, I figure I can get about 10 years worth of daily backups...

in Star Trek On iTunes on Webomatica
Speaking of spin-offs, a friend and I have long maintained that Data and Geordi should have gotten their own buddy comedy sitcom. Geordi as a hep cat, Data as his square friend, and loads of uncomfortable situations.
As for dropping dough on Trek, a while back Amazon had a package where you could buy all the films plus all the seasons of every show (except the newly-released animated series) with 1-click, for about $2500, which was a better deal than buying each release individually, but still...

After a run-in with one of my cats, my PowerBook's non-mag charger does the same thing. It takes precarious positioning to actually glow, but it usually charges without problem. Of course, YMMV.

Honestly, I'm open to a new cast, crew and ship, maybe with one or two veterans at the helm. Like "A New Adventure with Tuvok" or something.
And yeah, I'm curious about the next trek movie. Here's a round up of what's known about it: http://trekmovie.com/trek-xi-movie-info/

in Battlestar Galactica: DVD Movie Plans on Webomatica
I've always thought that straight-to-dvd Star Trek movies/mini series would be great for the franchise. Fill in some of the gaps in the canon with stand alone stories. Maybe follow up of some of the episodes from any of the series, much like "Wrath of Khan" followed up to "Space Seed."

Awesome! Thanks for the shout out. Though, for some reason tunequest is accepting pings. I normally get notified via email when they happen, but the link above didn't register on my "bribery" entry. I know Spam Karma didn't eat it; it just didn't show up.
Hmmm....
Anyway, I noticed the re-vamped feed when I fired up NetNewsWire this afternoon. I hope FeedBurner treats you well.

The Pumpkins ARE back together, at least officially. And they're being coy about the band members. Only Corgan and Chamberlain are confirmed, but the official site (smashingpumpkins.com) claims a new album "soon."

Even though I'm not in it for the money as well, which I freely admit there's not much of, I've been surprised by how the extra incentive of running Adsense can be a motivator. Each post I write becomes another potential avenue for revenue. While that's not my primary goal, it does act as a nice background nudge.

I know it kinda defeats the raison-d'etre of the Wii, but I read a rumor at some point that the GameCube controller would work with it. But I've not heard any confirmation of that. Any indication that it's true?
As a non-hardcore gamer, I'm seriously interested in the Wii, but my gaming space is a bit cramped and I'm certain I'll bust a knuckle or someone's face by mimicking the swing of a bat. It would be nice to have the option to sit back and play if so desired.
