@ctitanic
You do have the right to criticize someone's opinion, but you don't have the right to say that someone else is not allowed to express their opinion, and this is exactly how your original statement came across.
@Dissonance
Your comment was very well put, and I completely agree that the op-ed have no place on the front page. Unfortunately this has been a growing trend lately and there are some which take it too far. I find myself coming here less and less because of this.

@ ctitanic
Who are you to judge other peoples vernacular? People place different meanings on individual words. The word "Junk" could mean any of the following:
-Garbage
-Dilapidated equipment
-Poorly constructed
-Not something I would buy
You're taking the literal meaning of the word without any kind of support beyond the original quoted words.
If Steve (or anyone) wants to call the current netbook offerings "Junk", that's completely their right as it's their opinion. For you to come along and say they don't have the right to voice their opinion is completely absurd.
@ doogald
I don't think it's necessarily that all the Apple stories are negative. I really feel it depends on who the writeup originates from. Some writers can be very impartial and present the facts, as well as convey their opinion without intertwining them. Then there's others who treat their opinion as gospel and proclaim it like the town crier.
In my opinion, if you aren't able to write an unbiased article, you shouldn't have your works published. There's a time and place for opinions and attitude, but when people are looking for unbiased information, check them at the door.

in XM/Sirius Merger Sucks Seriously on Mobilitysite
How about you take a look at the big picture instead of just focusing on your own immediate surroundings?
Think of how long it's been since the actual merger was approved.....only a couple months. The point, GIVE THEM TIME! It should be obvious that as an interim solution, they're providing the "Best Of" so that some content can be enjoyed cross company.
Since both technologies are radically different the only viable option is to develop new radios which work with both XM and Sirius......which again, takes time.
Eventually I see both companies aligning their programming and being able to offer more options to both types of subscribers (while allowing original subscribers to continue using their existing hardware). Once more however, this will take time. Do you see a pattern here? Until then, you aren't out anything because you were originally paying for 4 subscriptions anyway.
The only cause for concern is meritless whining such as this. If XM and Sirius rushed to combine everything and then had countless problems, you'd be complaining about that as well so sit back, relax (a lot), and patiently wait for things to fall into place.
Remember, Satellite radio can't be a monopoly when no one is forcing you to pay for it. You don't like the service being provided, cancel it.

Yes it's a hoax, however IMO Windows Mobile has fallen by the wayside. It's clunky, convoluted, and a pain to use (I've owned several WinMo devices over the years so my opinion comes from experience).
So based upon my experience and opinion, my comment is valid and far from trolling.

"[1] Apple is trying to sell you a new machine, and new software. If you buy a new machine with Vista, and all new software, you’ll have few of the problems if any they talk about in the Apple ads."
And the likelihood of people buying a new Vista machine and all new software to go with it is slim. People want to continue using their existing software with a new OS instead of buying it all again. Why do you think Microsoft has so much old legacy code and compatibility modes still built into Windows?
"The other reality I know, is that people and businesses who are spending their own money and actually look at value for the dollar, buy PCs[3]. [3] The more fanatical value shoppers buy PCs with Linux if they can deal with the narrower software/driver availability and increased IT demands."
That's a pretty rose-colored reality you live in. I see immense value in both of the Macs I own.....more so than the Windows PC's I own.
Your statement is nothing more than an extremely biased opinion which tries to say that people who buy a Mac don't put the same value on money, that someone buying a Windows PC does. RUBBISH!

These recent ads are pure Gold!!
How many Microsoft ads do you remember from the last 3 years? Now compare that to how many Apple ads you remember.
It's very evident that Apple knows how to market their products successfully. Whether it be highlighting new features, or making a direct comparison as to why Apple/Mac/OSX is better.
Now before all of the idiots come out of the woodwork crying "Apple Fanboy", I use Vista and XP at work and really don't have any complaints about either. XP is rock solid and Vista has come a long way since it was first introduced. I do feel that OSX is nicer and easier to use however, and much prefer it.
I'm honestly quite confused about this whole new ad campaign from Microsoft. First it's Gates and Seinfeld, then Seinfeld is out and everyone has become a PC. The campaign (and I use that term loosely) seems to be all over the place and hasn't really defined any sort of idea, or picture. If anything, I think it's confused consumers more.

As another thought, all the Windows fanboys have cried for years that Mac users have an inflated sense of self-worth, feeling that they belong to some special culture because they use a Mac.
Isn't that the exact same thing that MS is trying to do here? Make PC users feel better about their decision by artificially creating their own little "PC Club"?

I completely agree with your comments, wholeheartedly!
I switched from Windows to OSX and couldn't be happier. I've spent less time keeping my machine working, and actually WORKING on what I want to.
These new MS ads are simply an indication of how MS is trying to recover from their poor product track record, and the fact they've lost touch with the average consumer.

"Khris you sound like you’ve been using computers for a total of maybe 10 years…."
Actually I've been using them for over 25 years.
"Granted I’m not old by any means."
Actually it's very evident that you are young. Your immature attitude stands out very prominently.
"Have you ever tried to get anything to work on a Mac properly that isn’t Apple software?"
I have several pieces of software which are not designed by Apple, installed on both of my Macs without issue.
"Mac users aren’t adept at using computers much"
Right, that's why most photo, music, and graphics work are done on Macs.
"I think you should poke around on this site ;) One thing PC users can do that Mac users can’t"
Sorry, but you aren't the first to rely on that lame excuse of a site to support their invalid arguement. Sadly, people feel threatened by Apple. So much so, they have to resort to creating such sites to make themselves feel better. Do you feel better now?
"I dare you to try to establish a HTPC using an Apple"
SageTV. Look it up.
"I believe Apple users have this deluded sense of higher self-worth and they believe they’re part of some secret club that others don’t know about and if they choose to use Microsoft based computers they are ignorant."
I believe the only ignorance here is being demonstrated by you.
"It takes brains not to ruin a Windows PC"
You are correct, however it also takes brains to realize that running a system which doesn't require any Anti-Virus software is a huge benefit!
"To get a virus on a Windows PC you have to be a complete imbecile and using a Mac it might be a tad more difficult"
Not a complete imbecile. I've seen several very intelligent people get a virus on their computer simply because they aren't computer literate. Not knowing a computer like the back of your hand in no way makes someone an imbecile. Your COMMENT demonstrates being an imbecile more than anything since there are very few (if any) genuine virus' capable of infecting OSX.
No where have I said that my Apple is superior. If I really felt that way I wouldn't still have Windows machines running in my house.
You have no grounds for your arguments and have resorted to petty insults, biased opinions, and ignorant comments.
Thank you for providing me with the best laugh I've had in awhile! Enjoy your evening. :)

ctitanic: I'm not putting any words in your mouth. You stated in an earlier comment "I could not have said better Mikey!", in essence agreeing with everything that he said. In his comments, he said "The people who use Apples are clueless and are easily duped", so if you couldn't have said it better, you obviously agree with that statement.
MikeyMike: So sorry for accusing you of not owning a Mac. However your comments are still nothing short of ignorant.
I am not clueless, or easily duped. I did not fall for the commercials (although they're hilarious because they're true). I switched to a Mac because of it's simplicity and ease of use. I've spent countless hours actually USING my Macs rather than countless hours tweaking and performing maintenance on Windows to keep it working as it's supposed to.
Macs really do "Just Work", where as Windows requires constant maintenance and attention.
It sounds like you're bitter or pissed off that Apple managed to profit from using an already "proven" operating system. It makes sense rather than continuing to kludge code together and calling it Windows Vista. The Wow Starts Now?? What a laugh.....I'm still waiting to be wowed by Vista (which I use every day at work and do like, however I feel that OSX is a MUCH more advanced OS in comparison). I run a Windows Home Server, and an HTPC on Windows XP so I am extremely familiar with Windows and it's "quirks"
You can believe whatever you want about me, as I will do about you. Know this however, fanboy status is usually granted to those who blindly follow others and base their opinions on what they're told. I've based my opinions on knowledge and personal experience, which exempts me from that elite club.
If you aren't using your Mac, send it my way. I'll gladly give it a good home.

Speaking as someone who had the attitude of "Apple Sucks" for many years, I have to admit I was completely wrong.
When I actually sat down and opened my mind to the possibility of using something other than Winblows, I was extremely surprised by the ease of use, and power that OSX offers.
Yes, it "Just Works", it really does.....but like everything out there, problems do arise. NOTHING is problem free.
To use the argument "If they just worked their wouldn’t be tons of Mac help forums on the internet now would there?" is absolute rubbish. It's an extremely poor attempt (flawed logic at best) to cast a negative shadow on Apple products. The argument has absolutely no merit whatsoever.
To MikeyMike and ctitanic, it's painfully obvious that neither of you have ever used a Mac and therefore have no right to make any complaints about the platform or OS. In order to have an educated opinion, you must have knowledge about the subject matter......which in this case you don't.

Those "stupid" Apple style attacks have obviously been extremely effective as it's forced Microsoft to launch a new campaign in the hopes of getting the consumer back in their shackles.

I currently own both a WinMob device (and have owned several in the past) as well as an iPhone.
Both have their strong and weak points.....some of which were touched upon, others of which were exaggerated upon.
My favorite day to day device is the iPhone. I gave into purchasing another WinMob device so that I can take it where I'd rather not take my iPhone as it's an attention grabber. (I'm in Canada and I have yet to meet another person who has one)
I'm neither an Apple-Fanboy (I own an iPhone and a 5g iPod) or a Windows-Fanboy. Not having MMS or cut/past on the iPhone really doesn't bother me....I'd use them if they were there, but I'm also not going to cry like a little girl since they aren't.
Browsing on the iPhone can not be beat. Period.
As for typing, I've had no problems adjusting to a virtual keyboard. As someone else has mentioned, it's a pretty damn smart keyboard too as most of the time it figures out what you are typing and auto-corrects any errors.
A lot of the features the OP was whining that the iPhone doesn't have, I personally don't use or care about, and I'm sure I'm part of a large population who feel the same. Granted, other people will care about those features, but then they should buy something that has those features to keep them happy.
I get irritated by seeing numerous people whine and moan that Apple hasn't added additional features such as MMS or Cut/Paste. I bought my iPhone because of what it can do......not what I hoped it would do in the future. Sadly, a lot of people bought one with the hopes it would have additional featured added later......Sorry.

"to me the Asus Eee is only comparable with one of those toys from the One Laptop for Child campaign."
What a stupid comment. I love my Eee PC and I've personally turned half a dozen people on to buying one because it's so useful! My mother carries one instead of a Palm Pilot or WM Organizer because of the full keyboard, and the ability to run full versions of common programs......not "Pocket" versions. It makes an incredible little computer to tote around in server rooms when you need to Telnet or Remote Desktop into a Router or Server.
"If you are looking a cheap laptop capable of doing all that your teenager child wants to do, do not waste your money and time”
You're right, because the teenager mentality is MORE MORE MORE and they want instant results. The Eee is designed for people who understand technology and can look beyond the specs to find a genuine use for it. They don't expect it to do more than it's capable of.
