Great post, and some very useful comments so a big thanks to all!
Currently in the planning stages of my first conference, so this is spot on for ideas and feedback. I'm lucky in the fact that the city where I live has never had a tech / business / online conference, so am hoping it will be a success.

Some great ideas and comments Chris.
May I point you all over to Andy Bounds>>http://www.andybounds.com/
He has some superb free info, and has written an excellent book called the Jelly Effect.
I've been fortunate enough to meet Andy a couple of times, business and social, and he always impresses and helps me.

Andy's talk was hliarious, and so was Trevor's, but I don't think the latter is online yet - some quite controversial comments made ;-)
It was a superb event, really top notch, and it had to be to get me camping!
BTW, love the website / blog - very cool indeed!
Best.

in How much does your company charge? on The Marketing Technology Blog
Good post Doug and spot on. I am always looking to differentiate against my competitors and try to do so in a few fun ways, as well as the serious ones. It seems to work.
I've pitched for a project recently, and I am 100% confident I will do a better, more accomplished job than the other people in the frame. It's going to go down to £££ and also whether they want a "consultant" or a big agency.

in The best computer bag I’ve owned: STM Journey on Scobleizer
Ahhh, a topic I like!
I've had and still have many bags, but the fave in terms of quality, comfort, protection for laptop and other features has to the Tom Bihn Empire Builder bag. Just superb!
Tried Booq bags - (looked great on the website and loved the orange detailing) - but didn't have the quality.
Tumi - great quality but serious ££££ / $$$$. A little "steady" though.
Timbuk 2 are great but I have a normal non laptop bag, same with Crumpler.
Bag fetish? Me?! ;-)

Many thanks for the post! Enjoyed reading it and agree 100%.
Sales and marketing 2.0 are really the very same thing - a rare meeting of minds and a good relationship - unlike many sales and marketing teams!

in Trading Places with Indian Outsourcers on The Blog of Author Tim Ferriss
Very, very thought-provoking and interesting - I had an idea what it was like, but now know a lot more.
I agree with people's comments about competition - it is all about value - cost vs efficiency and skill and experience. If you can see the value of out sourcing, and you get that value, then do it. It's a connected world that never, ever stops.

Jealous you got to go to DO.
