the Facebook connect function here didn't work, it put the page into an infinite loop, drawing over and over.
the virtual world was pretty nice looking. can two people be in at the same time?
nice camel, though it was floating in the air in much the same way bricks don't.

So, are they going to forbid government military recruiting films froms being shown on youtube, such as films where soldiers are shouting "Kill" during training, and firing weapons at humanoid targets?
I suppose government endorsed murder propaganda will be considered ok, it's only the unlicensed murderer's that will be suppresed.

Wouldn't you love to be the guy in charge of telling terrorists that you aren't going to allow their posts to appear?
"Sorry, your post doesn't meet the standards, it will not be shown."
"Show my post or you will regret it. You and all the rest of your family. And city. And your old elementary school. "
"Hmm, upon a second review, I see your point. Post away. "

Will TubeTheVote be providing equal coverage for the Libertarian Party candidates?
If TubeTheVote does not provide equal coverage to Libertarian Party candidates, it will show a heavy bias in favor of state power and against the rights of individuals to live their lives peacefully and honestly, free from government aggression.

Hi, Torley,
Nice to see you in Mashable.
I went out to your island "Here" the other day.
Nice place.
I'm sitting in a rocking chair next to a submarine in Caledon at the moment.
Caledon is a good example of the user created content idea working quite well.

One should in general treat stories in the Second Life Herald with the same attitude one would give to stories that appear in "The Onion".
Not that the story mentioned isn't a valid story, but the Second Life Herald resembles Weekly World News more than the Washington Post.
Personally I'd like to see an exploration of why Lively doesn't have any menu options enabling users to communicate through Google Docs and Google Groups and Gmail and so on.

Electing yet another statist is unlikely to produce a desirable effect, if history is any guide.

I didn't miss the point of Photosynth, I just thought of something I think is different and more advanced.
Your response, however, seems to miss the point of my comment completely.

Here's my spinoff from Photosynth:
instead of using multiple still images as input, use videos.
instead of using pictures taken at imprecisely know positions and times, place the video cameras at precisely know locations, and network the cameras so that the time each frame is taken in synchronized among the video cameras, or at least have each frame's time known precisely
the feature finding part of the process would work the same
using the approach, it seems to me that it ought to be possible to end up with a 3D model of the area being viewed, that you could look at from any angle, and run back in forth in time.

Hello.
I am looking for help with uWorld. I was running version 1.16 with no problems but now that it has been updated to version 1.20e I am unable to connect using my username and password. I am able to connect as a guest.
I am in general looking for a help about uWorld from a person who speaks both Chinese and English.

I wish Microsoft would accept that it made a mistake and continue selling and developing XP just like it has been.
I bought two computers for my kids today and after much looking at specs I finally decided to pay more money for less hardware for two computers from Dell with XP Pro instead of buying other systems with Vista.
On Gmail, I'm in no hurry to have any new features. They are testing a thing that makes pictures pop up when your cursor passes over senders names, I hate it, and I have to keep telling it over and over to use the older version. If they make an update then I suspect I'll be stuck with it unless I switch to basic HTML version. I don't like anything to pop up as I move my cursor around.
I'm registered with delicious and digg but I hardly ever use them. They might be able to come up with a new version that would get me to use them more.
I don't check Twitter often enough to be aware of the downtime except from reading about it.
I am eagerly awaiting Firefox 3 and the Flock browser that will be based on it once FF3 gets released.

What happens if the person trying to use your computer holds a properly sized picture of you up to the camera at the proper position and orientation?

Try the last release of Opera 8. That seemed to work alright for me.
About Firefox, are you loading it up with extensions? That might account for crashing.
If you haven't tried Maxthon Classic and Maxthon 2, that might be worth trying.
Firefox 3 beta 5 seems to work pretty well to me.
Flock does fine, it's what I'm using.
I spend a lot of time time surfing, with lots of tabs open, sometimes multiple browsers with lots of tabs on each, sometimes on multiple computers, and I don't find the browsers crash all that much.
I'm fairly easily aggravated. Perhaps it's the not the browsers but the machine, operating system, network connection, etc.?

Rather than filtering out feeds in different languages, I'd like some feed software that will translate the feeds.
The virtual world company forums for Hipihi, Novoking, and uWorld all have feeds available, but 99.9 percent of the text is in Chinese, which I don't read.
A system that let me subscribe and see the posts Google-translated into English would be wonderful.

Hipihi is now in open beta. It's easier to get an account now.
The interface has changed a lot since Hipihi started.
We English only people could use some help from some bilinguals. There is a partially translated English interface but it's far from complete.
My specific question at the moment is how to use the backpack. How do you rez an object in the backpack's common area into the world as an object.

If folks are expected to spell Adam correctly, shouldn't Adam reciprocate the proper spelling courtesy by spell checking the headlines of the articles he posts?
Yesterday's headline, "Are Chartiable Tie-Ins the Key to FB App Success? Dank Apps Thinks So", at http://mashable.com/2008/04/17/dankapps/, has what should be "Charitable" spelled as "Chartiable".
Mashable should work harder to have proper spelling, proper grammar, complete sentences, and correct word choice.

but maybe it can try to add this: ask you to 'speak' password silently, then match with its record?
