in Why I Don’t Care if Your Blog is DoFollow or NoFollow on The Lost Jacket
Great job! ;-) Always glad to see case studies where actually my approach works. It works for me, I sometimes even drop links in comments btw. ;-) but sometimes I have the impression that many more people don't believe it could work for them than actually try to implement it.

I'm not logged in but I still see it. Example: http://digg.com/d1o6CK
For non-Digg users it should forward to the source like any non-scammy URL shortener.

in The blogosphere is alive, well and kicking on The Inquisitr
Those "blogging is dead" articles are classic link baits and they work as you link to all of them. This method is called "pull a calacanis". You badmouth a whole industry to gain attention and links. I read the Wired one and it was so obvious and stupid that I won't even argue with that.

in SEO Is Good, But Not the Same as Reputation Management on Marketing Pilgrim
Well, it's the old "SEO is *ull*hit" link bait whether it's "just joking" in the text does not matter, people just read and remember that SEO is about "gaming Google".
If you like this title you surely will love "Rob Banks, Help the World!" or "Eat Babies, Help the World". Stupid sensationalist tabloid writing style.

"Game Google"? No, sorry, this article is crap due to reinforcing good old anti-SEO prejudice.

in The rules of business blogging on billso.com
Hey Bill, thanks for the mention, I feel honored. Indeed blogging for educational reasons is not quite the same as business blogging I refer to in my post so some rules have to be adpated to this context. For instance I do not recommend to blog using your real name if you blog privately. Now are students blogging privately or in a business manner? It depends.

Sadly the form has no text box for "URL of site that has been optimized". This way you can review and bad mouth your competitors.

in Dear Digg – Please Ban My Site on Andy Beard - Internet Business Systems Discussion
Andy, I guess you missed my Digg tutorial: http://seo2.0.onreact.com/how-to-get-any-story-...
There is also a "block Digg" code linked in it you might want to use.
Digg does not want read ABOUT marketing or SEO, they prefer to get marketing and SEO messages served instead. Ads Apple, WII and the likes do not even have to be duisgised as articles.

Tad I am aware of the block Digg code, but that doesn't help the situation. It doesn't prevent a story being submitted.
I am fully aware Digg doesn't want to read about marketing or SEO, but there is a whole load of news I highlighted in my article which is Digg worthy, from multiple sources, not just my blog.

in Moving The Free Line But You Want Jam On It Too? on Andy Beard - Internet Business Systems Discussion
While blogging to advance the industry is fine, blogging for only a fraction of the people you could reach is shooting your own foot. The real challenge is to write in a manner that everybody reads and understands while still advancing the industry.

Tad would you link to and vote for content that includes Wordpress plugins that barely work with the current version of Wordpress?
Would the fact that it is published by an SEO Consultant make it better?
Even my own Wordpress SEO article is now out of date, as it includes plugins I would no longer use.
These are just examples
I linked to one of Darren's sites as an example, but I could easily have also linked to Maki - voted the top social media blog in the Search Engine Journal awards.
As far as I know Maki doesn't do any social media consulting, doesn't reveal niches, thus the only "proof" is that the blog he writes on is successful, or being the top user on Sphinn.
I have a huge amount of respect for Maki, I think he is a great writer and researcher. However based on Lee's article, but more so the comments, it seems that there is some kind of pent up disrespect in the community for people who visibly only write a blog, and haven't been visible in the industry for long.

Comment Sniper is funny. It says "free download" one the site, then you downlaod the "trial". After installation and upon first launch it says "your credits are used up, you have to purchase a key". So it's free like on a slaveship. You are free to buy you out.
