in Sonny Landreth, A Master Of The Cross Style Slide Guitar on GuitarFlame.com - Guitar stories from a semi-pro guitar player
I've been a fan of Landreth for a number of years. He's fantastic! He recently passed through Nashville, and unfortunately I wasn't able to catch the show. I bet it would have been great. Thanks for posting these videos!

in Dave is learning how to play the guitar on Dave Delaney : Dave Made That
How great would it have been to be able to play with Albert Collins?!? Glad to hear that you're finally giving it a shot. Looking forward to the vlog.

in A song from another time on GuitarFlame.com - Guitar stories from a semi-pro guitar player
Ha! It did sound a little flat at 1:21. This is a nice rendition of Patience. I'm actually a little surprised that Scott Weiland would do a cover of a GnR song. Nice!

in Don Ross and his magic acoustic guitar on GuitarFlame.com - Guitar stories from a semi-pro guitar player
I don't play much fingerstyle either, but I also greatly enjoy watching fingerstyle guitarists play. It's amazing what sounds they are able to get. Watching Tommy Emmanuel a few weeks ago really blew me away. Don Ross if fantastic as well.

in Tal Wilkenfeld,22 yo, Jeff Beck’s new bass guitar wonder!!! on GuitarFlame.com - Guitar stories from a semi-pro guitar player
Hey Ovidiu, I've got Tal's album and it's a very good instrumental jazz album. I've also got the Crossroads DVD which is fantastic...Her playing with Jeff Beck is amazing. I think she's going to be doing some great things in the future.

in What’s the story with a relic? Tell me about it! on GuitarFlame.com - Guitar stories from a semi-pro guitar player
I agree, although there is something undeniably cool about a guitar that looks like it's been played. Really played. However, it does seem a little wrong to take a perfectly beautiful new guitar and bash it around until it looks like it hasn't been taken care of.

in Electric guitars, a never ending source of “must have” things! on GuitarFlame.com - Guitar stories from a semi-pro guitar player
Great find, Ovidiu! I actually don't have a mousepad at work, so I may have to pick one of these up.

in Instructional videos thought. on GuitarToyBox
I have to agree. However, maybe it's just because the Note4Note videos just aren't very good. The nice thing about books is that you can play at your own pace rather than watching a video that was targeted to the lowest common denominator. Sometimes, if I'm learning a new technique or want to watch a master, I'll check out a DVD, such as a Paul Gilbert DVD or an Eric Johnson DVD, but I rarely want to watch a third party give instruction about another player's technique on a video.

in Gibson now suing people who sell Guitar Hero on GuitarToyBox
This is getting ridiculous. I happen to live in Nashville, the site of Gibson's headquarters, and they are a great asset to our community. However, it's moves like this and when they sued PRS a few years ago that really make me dislike what they're doing. I have a hard time buying any Gibson product knowing that it supports decisions like this. It just seems so petty.
Cheers,
Dave
