EZ_Tracks is total garbage. Be careful clicking through there. You might end up with a $10/month charge on your cell phone bill.

in How OraNA.info Aggregates Blogs.Oracle.com on Eddie Awad’s Blog
Hey Eddie,

I think that's fair. Everything stays in the mix but you don't have to kill yourself keeping up.

We want you working on your next web 2.0 brainstorm. ;-)

Do you think so? I didn't the audio was that great. I think it was better than some, especially the earlier ones. I think the audio on the ApEx podcast was the best so far.

in 6 Useful Links from Around the Web (2007-08-31) on Eddie Awad’s Blog

Eddie and Dan,

This was a useful post. I've been a long time user of 7zip myself.

I just downloaded and paid for the pro version of PDFRedirect. It has a lot more features than the free versions I was using.

I also downloaded a couple of those free MS programs.

Thanks,

in Top 10 Ways to Know Your Software Project is Doomed on Eddie Awad’s Blog
11. No comments in the code because if it was hard to write, it should be hard to figure out.

12. Developers are responsible for ALL testing.

This following is absolutely true. My day begins with a 1/2 hour status meeting everyday. My day ends with a 1 hour status meeting everyday. On tuesdays we have an extra 1 hour status meeting in addition to the 1 1/2 hours we are already meeting everyday.

That's 8.5 hours per week on status. Better than 1/5 of the entire week (for a 40 hour week. bwahahahahaha.)

On some days, I have to stop what I am doing to respond to status emails "that must be responded to immediately". That's usually during testing.

Welcome to my world.

in New Oracle ACE and Website on Eddie Awad’s Blog

Eddie,

Congrats! You deserve it!

Free open world and the really cool sweatshirt!

I'm not too sure about the director thing. I'm not sure what the 12 month commitment thing is all about. I'm also not sure that the bigger names won't automatically get it. It's like too many people got the ace so now they need to make it ace Sr and ace Jr.

Oh well, I still like the sweat short. Very soft. ;-)

in What You Should Not Blog About on Eddie Awad’s Blog

Eddie,

I apologize for not commenting more. I've been busy. heh

Just kidding.

You should get your mom to give you the recipe to your favorite Lebanese meal and post it. I don't know much about Lebanese food.

Then we'll believe you've been too busy eating!

Enjoy your time and family. Have a happy holiday break.

in When The Combination of an Oracle Sequence and a PLS_INTEGER is Deadly on Eddie Awad’s Blog

Hi Eddie,

I think the best solution would have been an to use an anchored declaration and declare mrp_forecast_dates.transaction_id%TYPE. Then the programmer would have been assured of a proper data type match.

Just my .02. heh

in What’s so special about the world cup? on Eddie Awad’s Blog

Hey Eddie,

I can't stand most sports but a few years back I had a friend that I worked with who was from Brazil. He couldn't decide if he was a soccer nut or a geek so I created a doom level of a soccer stadium (complete with fans and soccer teams) and we death matched through it.

Now that was a geek world cup worth watching!

heh

One more set of .02, ItToolbox blogs are on moveable type.

I actually started blogging 1 Feb, 2005 but when I saw ItToolbox looking for bloggers in March, I switched away from blogger.com. I had about 5 or 6 entries on blogger before I deleted the blog.

in Oracle Rootkit on Eddie Awad’s Blog

Hi Eddie,

The DBSA already exists in many larger organizations. With all of the compliance regulations and issues in recent years, it's important to have someone responsible for database security that understands the laws and regualtions around data at rest. Understanding rootkits and keeping up with the latest from both Oracle and hackers is an important part of the job.

Thanks,

LewisC
