if you can, have a chat with a pilot, they will put you at ease and answer all your questions- cured my fear of flying.

Remember- they are seriously professional people and would never put anyone at any risk.

You know it is the safest form of transport- you are far more likely to be injured in the car journey on the way to the airport.

In fact, you know you are more likely to be killed getting out of the shower than flying in an aeroplane? Kind of puts it in persepctive

If a person has been diagnosed with panic attacks in the past and is familiar with the signs and symptoms, the following techniques may help the person stop the attack. You may also try this for yourself if you are experiencing the symptoms of a panic attack.

First, relax your shoulders and become conscious of any tension that you may be feeling in your muscles.

Then, with gentle reassurance, progressively tense and relax all the large muscle groups. Tighten your left leg with a deep breath in, for example, hold it, then release the leg muscles and the breath. Move on to the other leg. Move up the body, one muscle group at a time.

Slow down your breathing. This may best be done blowing out every breath through pursed lips as if blowing out a candle. Also, place your hands on your stomach to feel the rapidity of your breathing. This may allow you to further control your symptoms.

Tell yourself (or someone else if you are trying this technique with someone) that you are not "going crazy." If you are concerned about not being able to breathe, remember that if you are able to talk, you are able to breathe.

If medications are prescribed, several options are available. Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) such as sertraline (Zoloft), fluoxetine (Prozac), paroxetine (Paxil), and fluvoxamine (Luvox) are often the first choice. Clinical trials have shown SSRIs reduce the frequency of panic attack up to 75-85%. SSRIs must be taken 3-6 weeks before they are effective in reducing panic attacks and are taken once daily.

Other choices of drug treatment include benzodiazepines such as alprazolam (Xanax), clonazepam (Klonopin), lorazepam (Ativan), or diazepam (Valium). They effectively decrease panic attacks by up to 70-75% almost immediately; however, they must be up to 4 times per day. Additional drawbacks include sedation, memory loss, and after several weeks, tolerance to their effects and withdrawal symptoms may occur.

Tricyclic antidepressants such as imipramine (Tofranil) and MAO inhibitors such as phenelzine (Nardil) have also been used, but many individuals experience side effects that are difficult to tolerate.

About 5% of the population will experience panic attacks during their lifetimes. People who have repeated attacks require further evaluation from a mental health professional. Panic attacks can indicate the presence of panic disorder, depression, or other forms of anxiety-based illnesses.

"The Great Gatsby" is such an incredible book. It really turned me on to F. Scott Fitzgerald. I would recommend reading "Tender is the Night." Just another classic by Fitzgerald with the same lyrical writing.

Well although it is true that Twitter does not charge for their service I am sure they are counting the days until they either

1. add advertising into the stream

2. sell to Google which would love this kind of service

The payoff is later in the process not earlier in the development.

I am looking forward to Twitter being more stable but I do not think that anyone is trying to hang any mission critical apps off of the Twitter feed so as long as we can be patient this will be a great service in time. I know that i am really excited to watch where it all goes.

Yea, I did that and nothing was working but I'm good now by incorporating the default theme statements and your plugin which does retrieve words from my comments.

However, since the word I was purposely searching for was in the comments, it pulled up the post but didn't expand the comments so a User might think that it was a bogus return, is that something I screwed up or are you maybe planning to have the comments expanded, maybe even the word highlighted, in the future.

I just want to make sure I'm getting the most out of what it has to offer at this point. Thx.

I actually haven't read Blink, only Tipping Point. I shyed away from reading blink 'cause it didn't get much critical acclaim. Anyways, keep reading, its fun and interesting. Tell me how your other books turn out. I'm not sure if you'll enjoy Life of Pi, I didn't really enjoy it, but I read it at a pretty surface level and am not really into the whole spirituality metaphors I believe it revolves around. However it is so eloquently and precisely written so in that fact I enjoyed it.

Lets hope you get it tomorrow. I had this same thing happen, cept when I went to track my package they said they delivered it. Apparently to the wrong place. So someone got my HDTV projector while I was shit out of luck. Luckily it was insured and after a few months UPS was able to give the money back to the vendor which then gave the money back to me.

I started reading the 5th miracle - never got round to finishing it. Cant say I liked it too much. It was a bit disapointed, probably why I never got round to finishing it. I do remember him saying he wasn't suggesting a supernatural origin in the preface, but looking cynically, he did set up a straw man claiming most scientists no longer thought life's origins were a mystery, but he saw some gaps in understanding

And we have pointed out that the predictive powers of science help in interpreting data - something totally absent in theology.

We can be more sure of the natureof the universe because of this.

You cant do that with theology, therefore its claims are not based in any demonstrable reality, therefore, they are not rational. Extending that logic, it then becomes impossible to know anything concerning the suernatural - should it exist. Again, it is not a rational position to hold.

Scientific evidence is not subjective - you can test it and see if your predictions fit. If they do, you can form a higher level of understanding, called a theory.

The theory of gravity and electromagnetic theory has been used to put objects in space and bring them back again with great precision - this underlines the reality of the interpretation.

I love the way fundies feel the need to use their qualifications (often in the wrong area).

I saw Ken Ham preach last year. He was also heavily playing on this false dichotomy. I'm also reminded of a John Wesley quote approximating "if there is one error in that book there may as well be a thousand"

In some ways, these folk remind me of "paul" talking about people with less faith and the others should not damage their fragile faith.

However, as an atheist, I have no such oblgation :-)

To be honest, I left at the interval in disgust after realising that there would be no Q&A session. I only identified one other possible atheist (based on the fact that he didn't close his eyes either during the opening prayer). I am happy to say, that quite a few people left after the first session - many looking angry.
I remember him writing on his blog that they sold very little of their propoganda nonsense, which came as a surprise to him. It was also funny when he was listing about 6 or 7 former chrches in the area which were mow warehouses, pubs or climbing walls - given his interpretation of reality, I'm not surprised.

Unfortunately, I have noticed the effects of light pollution over the last few years and the number of stars visible in some remote places has definately gone down.

Light certainly is a strong selection pressure for some species - like moths wasting all their energy on street lights, or turtles comming ashore at the wron spot to lay eggs. The good news is that it is easy to evolve a shift in wavelength detection. It usually only takes a single base. I think it will affect it, but the possible mutations required to adapt are fairly simple, so in evolutionary terms likely to occur rapidly.

I wrote a post a while back on the speed of evolutionary change in coat colour. It doesn't take that long. This does not of course mean that it will happen though. Population size and the strength of the selection pressure are also important factors.

Broncos fans, most of you have lost your mind!! I from Denver but I've been living in Minnesota for the past 20 yrs so trust me I have watch some pretty terrible football over those years. Are the Broncos a Super Bowl team? NO but are they terrible because they lost a close game to 1 of the best teams in the NFL HELL NO!! I know it have been frustrating watching the defense collapse against the Colts And Chargers over the last 2 games, but there is a reason behind the collapse. Our safetys are terrible! Lynch can't cover and when he blitz it take 5yrs to get to the QB so by time he get there the QB can swing the pass to his hot route and make Coach Coyer not want to take any more chances. Nick F isn't he always a half a step late when a pass is getting completed in from of him? I'm looking forward to seeing Cox step in and doing his job, he can't do much worse. And on Jake I agreed it's time to move on if he don't perform this week against the Chiefs, because if we lose we might as well start building for 2007.

I agree with mathias, there is still time left to save the season. Don't give up just let. We should be favorite in all of our last 3 gms and if you look at the other teams you see if we take care of businees we will make the playoffs. Cincinnati got to go to Indy, then play us at home, and then play Pittsburgh in the last game of the year. Kansas City, must go to San Diego, and the Jets have to go to Minnesota this week. Yeah Darrent Williams can't cover me right now but i still like him and i still like his confidence. Jay C played a really solid game on Sunday and the running game look's like it's finally getting on track. The Broncos season to me was a new begining. Why everybody is bitchin about the way the season ended there not looking at the postives of the season. 1st thing the Broncos played a lot of young talent this year in the playoff push and it didn't wilt under pressure it got better. Jay Cutler is that dude, finally a QB we can depend on. Brandon Marshall And Big Tony #88 showed their talents, and I have no doubts there will be even better next season. LT Eric Pears did a solid job replacing Matt Lepis this season and to me is ready to take George Foster place on the right side, who have been a disappointment. There is two things the Broncos need to address this off season. 1. Find a domiant pass rusher, 2. tighting up the secondary. Now the second one more than ever, beacause of the cowards who killed a very talented corner in Darrent Williams. Darrent you made mad and you made me glad, but I truly appreciate your talent and the way you played the game. You will always be Bronco and you will always have a place in my heart. REST IN PEACE

Jan Jensen: interesting evaluation,you make a whole bunch of assumptions...with no real points or even quality. you have no idea of powertrain, layout etc...

It looks like: plenty of room for 2. space for cargo (i.e. groceries).

It looks fairly larged size, which is good, instead of the micro crap enviros think we need. Safety has alot to do with preception. I preceive it to have good safety...certainly good visiblity to others. (ask a motorcyclist about "being seen").

just some thoughts.

I would like to see the whole shebang and then make a choice. At least if this comes out, people will have a choice.

I have one of those solar refrigerators and they work great. We ran ours on a single charged battery with no solar hook-up and it went for three weeks before it couldn't maintain temperature. I figure you could run it pretty well indefinitely with at a temperature around plus 1 – 2c. It need to work a little harder in hot weather.

I have been testing chrome since it came out, as well as ffox3 and even tested ie8 which I must say is surprisingly good...for a change ms got a lot of things right on this one, but still I'm a Google freak as well, always have been and I use chrome a lot, and like the webkit feel it dose remind me of the Safari browser somewhat. One problem so far is the coding issues, there are just not enough sites coding for it yet, I should note that I'm running it on xp as well as vista and in vista it is so much faster you barely notice it's there and in xp I can and do crash it often....I can't wait to test when the Mac/Linux versions come out! Here is a link on the latest about that....but it is great to see that finely we do have some awesome browsers out there to compete with ffox3, which btw I love! And Joey I think your header looks fine dude, I love it a little rough around the edges…just like my guys lol....Great post!!
