in Why Perez Hilton Should Not Have Deleted His Original Michael Jackson Post on Seth Simonds
I can see how a BLOGGER would do that. Yank the post in a fit of FRICKpanic however PEREZ? He's created his brand on being over the top. Ive read him (I know. I know) since he was page sixsixsix (actually thats not all true--I STOPPED reading him after he switched from that) and liked his chutzpah and not caring.

yes the post would have been mean and inappropriate given the fact MJ passed but no MORE so than lots of what he posts and his inexplicably offhand gay slur hurled at will.i.am (seriously. you could punch me in the face without warning and Im not going to call you a dirty Jew. SERIOUSLY.).

ok.
no mo' rambles.

I guess I see how Minerva Mommy Blogger might have yanked the post and hoped no one noticed but Perez?

he's just changed.
afraid.
wimpy
and *I* think 90% of it is he feels the tide turning on HIM after the incident last week.

in How To Start A Movement [Video] on Seth Simonds
Ive watched this a few times now and love it more each time.

SO THE ANSWER TO LIFE FOR ME: be different yet be AUTHENTICALLY who you are and not "different' for the sake of standing while others are seated.
and embrace that core community. HARD. dont worry about numbers as when you are number one (not like the foam finger #1 but the #1 above) then eventually the #s may follow and if they never do? you wont even notice.

in Do You Have an After-Work Ritual? on Lifescript Health Bistro Blog
I was definitely the QUEEN of working all the time before I found a ritual. Not in a bad way even as I lovelove my work (writing) and when Im mired in fiction writing I find often I DONT wanna leave my characters just because the clock says 6p or 7p.
All that changed when I had my daughter as I really needed to draw the line and STOP WORKING and be *present* with her when my work time was done for the day.
For me it's all about the physical.
I need a TANGIBLE reminder that Im done working and am now wearing a different hat or, for me, bandanna.

I have a plethora of bandannas.

Pattern for the day job work.
Different pattern for the volunteer blogging.
Pattern for METIME (journaling)

it all serves as a great transition reminder when Im shifting from one MODE to the next.

lauriesanchez Hi, MizFit! We love your bandannas on Twitter! : ) And this is really a cool idea, because it's obvious to your daughter, even, when you can be interrupted. Love it. And great to hear that the creation of a ritual really worked for you, too!

in Out With #FollowFriday, In With Connected Communities on Seth Simonds
I love it and not because Im honored to be IN IT!
I almost dread fridays at twitter because it's such a mass of names and @ symbols.
One week I tried to do one tweet per person I recommend and use adjectives I REALLY felt described them----but that friday I tweeted all day long...

it is all about relationship building.

as you pointed out previously it's about LISTENING, hearing & helping.

Seth There's some middle ground to be had, methinks. You're already high on the karma train for your linklove Fridays. I like posting photos though. It takes a bit longer to format but the results are friendly.

I'm with you on listening, hearing, and helping. It's so easy to focus on the listening and forget that truly hearing means a resulting action.

in Guest Post - Getting People to Talk Behind Your Back on Chris Brogan
This was an ah ha! moment for me in a way.

I am influenced by realword 'endorsements' of products by people whom I know to be early adopters (had that experience with my first Flip a few years ago) but tend to read blog posts with a cynical eye at times.

The irony is I do many reviews at MizFit (nothing 'sponsored' or paid & always with the up front clarity to company I will speak my honest thoughts. Though I won't usually take on products I don't at least *anticipate* I'd like) and would be disappointed were other to read MY musings with same jaded perspective.

That said, I created a MizFit Seal of Approval for products which go above & beyond my expectations.

Only given it once.

Thanks for getting my saturday morning head *thinking*

in More Than Listening: Being Present on The Dating Papers
amazing post.
and something with which I struggle daily being a full time writer and full time babymama.

hence the BE PRESENT tank I wear in the majority of my videos.

a reminder to my viewers, sure, but more to ME.

in Are You Important To Me on Chris Brogan
So very true and I can't imagine what an effort it is on your part---but you do make all of us readers feel important and welcome.

That's another reason I always have a commenter of the month interview as well.

So that my readers can learn more about the other commenters and, in a selfish way, so that I can slowly get to know my readers on a moer intimate level as well.

All that said, my Applebees sucketh here in Austin.

They need to transfer in some peeps from the restaurant where you dined ;)

in Guest Post-Want To Catch The Next Big Idea? Use Your Hand As Bait on Chris Brogan
Love it. Such a good point about having the idea and the, as my people say, chutzpah to take that next step.
To 'feel the fear & doing it anyway'
I also love how you point out the bringing others on board.

IMO great ideas wither & die when kept to self in hopes of launching/creating alone.

What is joy abundance & success if not shared?

Thanks for a great read to start my Saturday.

in No Comment on Chris Brogan
Such an interesting (and comment provoking) post.

I know it is different for me depending on the blog.
With MizFit it is a lot about the comments and the community.
With other blogging I've done it was far less so.

in Analysis of blogging on the net: why do we comment? on New York Philosopher
Hi Adam, I think so much of it for me is what my goal was when launching MizFit. I wanted to create a community of likeminded people who were there to support each other. As I mentioned in the post/interview which sparked the post to which you refer: I wanted to be merely a launching point for discussion as MizFit and, in a way, quickly become irrelevant as the Bumbling Band took over and carried the commentversation along for themselves.

it has been a fun almostyear at MizFit & I look forward to seeing how things evolver.

take care,
