Google offering wireless broadband service isn't too surprising. I expected Google to make a move in ISP filed for a while, especially dedicated Internet access lines. Their recent acquisitions of dark fiber and Internet hosting start-ups is indication to that. This April fool joke might be just a hint of Google's more realistic plans for the near future!

I agree with Moshe Maeir, Google in the phone business would be a great addition to the competition as well!

Wireless broadband service from Google isn't that surprising. Google's acquisitions of dark fiber and other moves in the ISP field, indicate their interest in the market. There is some truth in every joke, and high-speed Internet service from Google is a possibility!

At first I thought this might explain Google's recent purchases of the 'dark fiber'. Afterall, they would need the fiber to support the bandwidth for the free wireless internet connection they are offering. Unfortunately this is just an april fool joke but Google becoming ISP is not that far off.
