in Gooruze Preview on Andy Beard - Internet Business Systems Discussion
Andy,

Thanks for writing about this. I've been almost inactive on the Web for more than a week. Glad that I checked your blog today.

Though I've spent just a few minutes (uploading pic, adding blog feed, etc.), but here is something that I don't like:

* To ensure that these external RSS feed belongs to you, we ask that within 5 days you post the text avinash.gooruze.com somewhere in the first few lines of a blog post.

They could use microid instead. Why one must add his Gooruze profile URL in a blog post in order to validate a feed?

A few days ago, I removed the coComment extension from my browser because the new version seemed to trouble more than the old version.

in Safari on Windows: Pleased so far on Get A New Browser
I love almost everything about Safari for Windows, except these three things:

a). I badly miss tool tips in Safari.
b). After heavily using Firefox for 3+ yrs, I've become used to "Ctrl + Enter" command. Why doesn't Safari support this?
c). Why won't the pics show up when I save 'em using the "Save Picture As" context menu option? :/ I've tried three or four times (.png) and the pics just won't appear in the Windows Explorer. :S

(a) and (c) force me to return back to Firefox, SeaMonkey or Opera.

in Write Blog Posts Not Articles on Instigator Blog
Excellent post! I think that now a days, if we talk about a blog, people directly take it as a professional term. I'm surprised seeing mentality of some people.

A few days ago, someone added a blog to StumbleUpon. I stumbled upon the blog and liked the writing style of the author. It had many small posts that were pretty helpful. After 4 or 5hrs, what I saw was just crazy. Someone left a negative review about the blog just because it was a personal blog.

I still wonder what the heck was that. Do such people even know the proper definition of 'blog'? Just because a blog is of personal nature, someone leaves a negative review?

Activities like this make me sad about the future of blogging. If you look around in the blogosphere, the future seems to be really dark because most of the blogging-newbie types start a blog with the main goal to make money.

I'm already bored seeing hundreds of money-making-and-traffic-boosting-crap blogs popping up every day in the blogosphere.

in BlogCatalog Updates on Andy Beard - Internet Business Systems Discussion
Andy,

I was pretty happy when I read this post a few days ago. So many cool new feature additions.

But today, when I logged into my Blog Catalog account after 4 or 5 days, EVERYTHING is gone because of their data loss. You may have seen my blog community, profile and friend's list over at Blog Catalog. Loosing EVERYTHING is a bit too much data loss, don't you think?

Though I won't be active on Blog Catalog anymore, I wish them good luck!

Andy Beard From what I understand it was quite a blow, but these things can happen if your resources are a little stretched.

in Google Adwords: Save a couple bucks… on The Marketing Technology Blog
That sounds odd. I wasn't aware that Google AdWords doesn’t automatically filter out the actual domain that the advertisement is pointing to.

Thanks for posting about this on your blog! I'll have to check if they aren't showing my own ads on my personal sites.

in MyBlogLog New Features – The Abusive and the Incomplete on Andy Beard - Internet Business Systems Discussion
The mass-mailing thing sucks, IMHO. I've left two comments on the official MyBlogLog blog. Let's see if they approve the comments. I'm waiting to see the *unique* answer of these MBL folks.

EVERYTIME, they've come up with a *solution that creates more trouble*. I read on their blog that everybody should leave the community who sends spam to them. WTH?! And who'll care about the time that we spend in visiting a blog and joining its community?

They say that managing 918 communities is just too much for a single person. I say that I can manage reading 5000+ blogs in a week and I know too many others who track much more blogs than I do.

IMO, they've built a pretty strong medium to promote spam over at MyBlogLog without providing us MBL members any single option to block the messages before they reach our profile pages.

MBL is the first company that's pissing me off everytime it releases a new feature.

And one more thing that I forgot to write in my first comment: You may want to change the link color, though it depends on your wish. COLOURlovers might help in the color selection.

You may want to adjust the white spaces. They make things look like they are out of control!

I think you may already be fixing these things..

in My Favorite Wordpress Plugins - II on VinodLive
Nice collection, Vinod! There are a few plugins in this list that I find highly useful for every WordPress user. By the way, there is a question: Are you sure that all the plugins listed in this article work perfectly in WordPress 2.1.2 without breaking anything?

Thanks!

in Pet Peeve: Why do companies still send me my password through email? on Bob Caswell
I'm completely agree with whatever you wrote in this article. Sending password through email is not a good business practice.

Anyways, I don't care even a few companies do that because it's my habit to use a 5 to 8 characters long password during the signup process. No matter if it's a big company like IBM or a new startup, I do change my password after receiving the account activation email.

Even in the current Web 2.0 era, I've experienced a few Web 2.0 startups sending passwords included in their account activation email. They really need to understand that this is the year 2007!

in 2007/03/17/snipitron/ on Mashable - The Social Media Guide
One more thing that I forgot to write in my first comment: Whenever you bookmark a website, the service caches the whole web page and stores the page as a part of your project. It's something that I'm yet to find in other social bookmark sites.

If they explain what their extension is doing by launching MS DOS and executing some code *every time* the bookmark button is clicked, I'll give it another shot.

The idea is really neat. When I was reading this article, I was pretty happy thinking that Snipitron is gonna be the best social bookmark site for me. But, after trying their Firefox extension, I'll say that at the moment, it sucks!

Everytime I click the bookmark button, it launches MS DOS and executes some codes. The second thing that I didn't like about this service is the bookmark procedure is too slow.

Sad to know you are sick. I wish you feel better soon! The terrible thing is that I'm sick myself. The same type of sickness: running nose, fever, body ache, etc. I don't live in China though..
