Vlad,

We're connected on LinkedIn but not facebook.

In my case traffic went way up in March so I was surprised to see at the end of the month I had dropped a point. So I didn't see a traffic change either.

Google internally uses a much finer scale that the crude 1-10 that we see. My guess is I was a very low 3 and now I am a very high 2.

By the way I stumbled the top 100 list.

Vlad,
Thanks for getting this back up. Sadly just in time for my recent PR drop. I guess I have to start caring about my techonorati rank again. :-)

in AdWords Introduces Ad Auctions on Go Beyond MLS
It sounds great, except like Dan said the quality factors are geared more to make Google more ad revenue not quality user experience. The click through ratio only has to do with how good a sales pitch in the ad is. It has NOTHING to do with user experience.

in Real Estate Blogs Top 100 on Go Beyond MLS
Hey Vlad,

Your top100 site comes up as expired. I enjoyed checking that from time to time both to see where I ranked and to see a great list of real estate web sites. I hope it is an over site and you renew it.

Vlad Ned, I should have probably give the heads up to my readers about that other website. Unfortunately it did not produce the results I would like. Most of the traffic I got on that website was spent on the top few blogs of the list. Maintaining of the list became expensive as well.

I may move the list back to this blog.... but am not positive yet. I would like to find a way for every one to benefit from it.

Wow cool idea Thanks.

This is great timing. Someone just sent me a PDF file that I could use as an article on my website. I really didn't want to retype it.

in Open Office Suite Scam on Techie Buzz
Dintz,

I bet a fair number. With the right marketing and packaging it should be easy to fool people. And the price is low enough that people would take the risk. But clearly people would find out very quickly that they had been ripped off.

I thought that perhaps the license would not allow someone to resell it. here is a quote from the license FAQ
"Selling a copy of a free program is legitimate, and we encourage it." Wow, they really believe in a free market free use, and the ability have complete freedom with the software.

PS I hope this isn't duplicated, I had trouble getting the page to reload after commenting.

in Open Office Suite Scam on Techie Buzz
is that much different form a book publisher charging for a book that has gone into the public domain and is available free on the internet?

Yet I would agree this is slimy. Perhaps part of it is because the people who have created Open Office have done so at great expese in terms of time and dollars only to give it away free.

Thanks for the reminder. I need to do this. As I read your post I went to my site to see if it was a feature included with Wordpress.

I realize now that all I have to do is make a different link category, good tip.

I was a little afraid of 2.7 because I knew a lot of changes were coming. I wasn't happy when they made that last changes in the layout. But some of those features sound cool.

i didn't know about your comment plugin so that is a big improvement for me

Well it's taken me a long time to get around to it but I finally installed Lucia's plugin. I saw this post a long time ago so I knew this was the place to find the best one.

Thanks,

in NAR Must Add Pro Bono Provision to Realtor Code of Ethics on Sellsius
I too like the idea in concept but i am with Ken on this one.how do you implement it.

There are many part time agents who only do 1 deal a year. Is it fair to make someone who is struggling do deal for free. I like the idea of helping people, I am not sure I like the idea forcing people to help others. I made a promise to myself to donate to charity in ever increasing amounts every year. I believe in giving back to society. But should the NAR decide how I give back?

I would love to see some kind of incentive to do this, i am not sure I like the idea of requiring it.

jfsellsius It is voluntary Ned and for those "who are able". NAR does not decide the
"how", you do. There are no pro bono police.

in Wahoo! I can’t wait to start blaming Obama for all my problems! on Lenderama.com
I think the first president I voted for was Carter. The difference between you and me is I knew he couldn't deliver all the things he was promising, but at least he was promising me things I wanted.

>If it’s harder to be successful, then people who work as hard as I do will stand out.

Yup, there is always a way to be successful. You just have to find it. Change is good for those who know how to adapt.

Vlad Zablotskyy Ned, I do know every time he and his friends are on my site. I tag them with woopra.com, but as far as even limited publicity he might gain from appearing on the MBL widegt, he has to find another blog. Glad it it was some what entertaining. ;)

I think Tom Vanderwell summed it up best by saying
>1. NAR needs you but I’m not sure they know they need you.

Right on Tom, I think that is the crux of the issue. Many of the other comments hint at the same thinig but you nailed it.

Exactly, is this a job you will want long run? What happens when they want you to promote or defend one of their stupid policies?

Todd commented:
>NAR has an opportunity to help new bloggers by educating them on ways to blog without landing them in legal or ethical trouble.

That sounds great but what I don't want to see is a complicated policy like their code of ethics that applies to blogs. It's hinted at in this part of their job listing; "* Maintain, evolve, and enforce NAR’s social media policies and guidelines"

Good luck to you (and Jay for that matter)

in Little White Lies: Your Stated Income Mortgage Borrowers on Lenderama.com
In 99% of the cases a tax return should easily document income. Now if someone has understated their income on their tax return they really don't deserve a loan anyway, do they?

Gina said "However on a full-doc loan the underwriter insisted on using his worst year as representative of his annual income "

The above is an legitimate use of a stated loan. The irony is, it is simply stupidity on the part of the loan originator. Why would he not approve a solid borrower like you describe but would approve a higher risk undocumented loan?

Interesting post and comments.

My blog is a month old. Just today I was telling my partner that we hadn't gotten even one sign up for our list yet. Coincidently two people signed up today. That would be a .34% conversion rate. Seeing your numbers give me a conversion rate to shoot for. (my first metric - yipee)
